      How do you do i.e. in a chassis where holes in the tube frame are forbidden? Asking to learn bc that's what I look out to weld. Do you just make them small as u can and hide em where there's less stress to substain?

    Zinc fumes are tasty !! I love when I weld my casters on.. right away the Mr troll says what happens when you need to change it now you can't unbolt it!!? Good thing I know how to fix stuff ... and break it.

    • @WilliamMoser
      @WilliamMoser 7 років тому +4

      plus weld is so much cheaper than bolts you have enough money left over to pay for a few grains of abrasive and more weld if you need to reattach the wheels later. If you do it really fast the rubber doesn't even melt! bolts come loose easier than welds too.

    First I was like "He can't do a chamfer! Only a simpleton... OOOOOoohhhh - he's going to fabricate it." Then I was like "GASP! He's changed back to a double chamfer? Well that's cheating! He ca... OOOOOhhh - he re-fabricated to get a better radius." Such a roller coaster ride. I laughed, I cried, it was better than CATS. Now, fetch me my fainting couch. I just bought my first grinder for the house. I do it for a living but I haven’t owned one til now. I grind the weld on steal door frames then smooth it out for paint. Blew my mind when I saw the differences between the discs I use st work and the ones I have for home. I’d never seen a flap disk before. I smooth metal out nicely,all day,everyday with a fifty grit(give r take) disk that is paper thin.

    Quick tip for tacking square stock i learned. Always tac in the corners at the edges so you have a point to later start or end your full weld. And you are able to move it atleast in one direction if the tac pulls a little. If u then first think about which diagonals you tac on the outside and which on the inside. You can then tac all 4 corners of a frame and just easily push or pull it back to square just by hand.

    Perfect explanation of 2t/4t. You should try out a variable amperage "tigbutton" finger controller. They work great. They need a few easy modifications from the way they are sold though (cheap wiring connectors and awkward button bracket). Here's a full install video: ua-cam.com/video/hICn-rTizl8/v-deo.html

    Love the faux bends. By the way, at least on my welder, when in 4T, upon the first button hold I actually don't control pre flow but instead get another amperage in addition to the welding amperage and the "end" amperage. So three amperages to choose from. Super useful for welding Aluminum for example, since you can set the start amps like 50% higher, then just release the button once you got a puddle, weld, then downslope. Thought it worked the same on other machines.

    Late, I know. You can achieve this radius @15:00 by cutting relief lines to the bottom and the sides of the tube. Bend the sq. tubing where you want it by hand and tack weld the cut portions to place. A friend of mine did industrial-type rails for staircases like that. Elegant a.f. I hope no one else wrote a comment about that!

    I love your welding videos and humor man! I showed my gf and she said it wasn’t funny. We’re not together anymore.

    In industrial welding, there are torches with little joysticks where you could adjust everything on the fly

    Nice 👍👍 liking the series. And Tig tips I'm still practicing. I'm lazy, I cut radius on square tube and fill in with with flat. Doesn't look to bad.

    You just convinced a generation of (how do I say this nicely)...umm, people, we'll just go with people...you just convinced these people that they can put a bandsaw blade on a chainsaw...and I love it.

    Great video, Tony. Just getting into Tig and your chilled videos are perfect for learning. FYI, the "T" in 2T/4T I believe stands for "Takt" (cycle or period) or "Takt Zeit" ("cycle or period time" in German. Although some manufacturers state it stands for "Touch". In physics, the symbol "T" denotes "period" for this reason.

      interesting. I always read it as "time" myself but never had a good reason.

    Where can i buy chain bar for band saw blades? Need to do some square cuts and my laser angle grinder miss its imperial metric regulator.
