Hi Janiel, your video was the perfect one for me, I needed a refresh on this recipe I'm a full-grown Haitian man and it's been years since I didn't cook. After a few months with the covid-19, I come back on it. Then last night I decided to cook myself the codfish on white rice along with the red peas purée. Thanks for your clear and limpid explanations.
Im a full blown american with a full blown african/jamaican boyfriend. Ive always loved to eat carribean food yet now since moving into my own place, having a stronger relationship and your cooking recipes I have gotten SOOOOOOOO much better at cooking different cultures in the carribean community!. Keep up the great chef work
Thank you for the recipe, I made it this morning except I didn't have a tomato. I improvise and use crushed tomatoes and green onion. Thanks again for sharing. 👍👍👍
Thank you so much for this video. I was intimidated to try this dish but I know I can do it now. I"ll definitely be watching more of your videos. Thanks again!
I wanted a recipe without ackee and this looks delicious. Going to make this tonight. First time I've tried saltfish. I'm going to have it with dumplings. Edit: pinching the saltfish by hand is the best way if you have children or dont want to deal with the bones. Edit: Turned out delicious, I couldn't even taste the fish tbf.
Thanks for sharing I’m gonna try it my coworker wife made me some salt fish with black rice, shrimp and peas deliciously good😋 seeing your video I’m gonna try making the salt fish myself.. keep sharing I’m watching 👍🏾👍🏾
I’ve used this recipe several times now! Thank you so much for your recipe... it’s simple and your video gets straight to the point! I add a bit of ketchup right before it’s done, to get rid of the oily taste. So bomb! Just sliced some avocado while I wait for my plantain to finish frying. Thank you again!! 🇦🇬🇦🇬🇦🇬
I found your channel on Wordpress -- and I'm glad I did! My family is originally from Portugal and we have a dish that's almost identical to this, which brings back fond memories. ❤️ NIce work! Have a great day!

This looks so wonderful. I wonder if you have any idea what substitutions can be used tor the tomatoes and peppers. They are nightshade vegetables (as are potatoes) and people who suffer from gout attacks should avoid nightshade vegetables. Perhaps Daikon radish and mushrooms and carrots? I have never been a fish eater so really don't know what veggies would work. Thanks.
White rice😋😋😋. In my country🇵🇷 we add some tomato paste. If we do it like u too but we leave the veggies raw add some pitted olives and hint if white vinegar olive oil avocados the carabine ones not the little ones. We boil some root veg and green bananas and yummy😋😋😋💯💯💯. But yours look yummy too w heat.

Infatuated with this video ! Thanks !
Looks delicious queen 👑
If you can't get salt fish is it OK to substitute with fresh cod / pollock / haddock?
It’s not going to give the same flavor, but it’s worth the try with cod but just add a little seasoning for taste. Hope this helps.
Avacado and boiled eggs with White rice too!
Looks AMAZING 🤩

Loved this recipe, have you heard of the oxtail pie.
Looks tasty I would add 2 tomatoes
Great Video, however I missed the part of the Scotch Bonnet peppers, she keeps saying not to add it, then completes the video without it.
It looks amazing and delicious! At which stage did you add the scotch bonnet?
Sherene Alexander i added it after lol but usually it’s added in when you add your onion, bell peppers etc. 💕
I too wondered about the scotch bonnet as it wasn't added in this video
I love making salt fish. I normally make mine with rice
Perfect
What did you do with the scotch bonnet pepper?
Seymour Kitty lol added it after because the person i was cooking for doesn’t like spice. It should be added in with the onions, bell peppers etc
@@cookingwithjaniel ty. Figured that and thats what I did. Tha ks again.
Seek The Lord While He May Be Found !! HE LUVV YOUU
Add two cans of Ackee and I’m good to go! 😋
Thank you definitely it
When do you add the scotch bonnet?
At what point did you add the scotch bonnet pepper?
Hi, how long do you boil your plantain for??
simon B palmer hello
Boil all the hard foods (dumplings, bananas & plantains for roughly 20 mins)
Looking Good.
Making this with boiled dumplings right now
Ronnie GoLightly enjoy 😘
Lovely
What if you don't have time to soak it for 2 hrs? Can you boil it for extra?
Yes, you can boil it extra. But not too much to get rid of all the salt. You still want a bit of saltiness left in the dish.
I just try it with the blue package pollock! It come out GREAT! Thank you for your video love ❤😇🙂
Is this for breakfast or dinner? I know a lot of Jamaicans eat this for breakfast
Both! 🤗😊

Elle Jee i added it after lol but usually it’s added in when you add your onion, bell peppers etc. 💕
@@cookingwithjaniel Ok thank you!!
Thumbs up for the intro
Yum. Don't get rid of the seeds in a tomato. It has anti cancer properties. It's the most nutritious part of the plant with lycopene
ikr that's the only part I'm going to skip personally but I love all parts of the tomatoes myself, they are one of my fav fruits!
I have stopped eating tomatoes and my arthritis pain has stopped.
