I don't get it how they were so inept at replicating this scene, I just felt nothing from it while in the original anime it was one if not the most defining moment for Kenshin and Kaoru's relationship. It was my favourite scene from the entire series (not counting Trust and Betrayal) and it saddens me that the new generation is getting a version that feels so... dead... I was already bothered by how much worse the soundtrack was in general, but this scene was a make or break for me
@@tiagorafael2542 indeed!! They made such a bad work in the remake, I felt nothing. The music choice was awful. I felt so mad with them for ruining their farewell.
"The 11th year of Meiji, May 14th. On this day, Kenshin Himura returned to wandering once again. And into the pitch black darkness he disappeared, alone --"
Totally agree. The choice of music alone makes such an impact. The remake isn’t terrible, but the original anime is still proving to be so much better. Especially this scene and the fight between Kenshin and Saito.
This tears me up every time. The dubbed version voice actors nailed this beautifully. I am always looking forward to this scene each time I watch the series.
They got it on the second attempt. Try watching the first dub sometime, I saw some of it the other day and I couldn't stop laughing at how bad it was. For example they pronounce Kaoru as Cory. For some reason it's only version available on Hulu.
This episode is a masterpiece. It's not so well animated not so popular. But this feels so real. That hug and then the speechlessness of karou she couldn't move her legs neither her mouth. This is almost real.
I love this anime but I hope you all know that the back ground music in this scene is named Cavalleria Ruticana Intermezzo done by Mascagni (featured in godfather 3)
They made a real time movie on this but still i think the anime version is more romantic and realistic than the real one. It was always fun to read this manga .
The amount of emotions in this scene… Yes the 90s series didn’t have the best fights nor it had the best animation. But it still felt dynamic, interesting and very, very emotional. We can sympathize both Kaoru’s feelings and Kenshin’s feelings. She didn’t want to lose him and he wanted to make sure that people he loved were safe from his past
Assuming they can handle it given everything so far while not terrible and certainly more faithful to the manga there is a clear difference in the execution of why despite the changes in the original anime they worked so well and that's due to how nearly every frame of every moment had to be made to count and even go the extra mile of making certain details and even using the right kind of camera work and music to make it all work. Again while not terrible in the 2023 anime and it does love ok more stylized and such it doesn't have as much in terms of pacing and tone compared to the OG where the new version feels very shounen to say the least which had that one been first over the 96 version it coulda been impactful. This just boils down to a difference in directing and I don't think the author was as involved given he is involved in the 2023 remake apparently. So when we cross that bridge we'll do an actual comparison but so far the biggest issue is the remake is very fast paced and doesn't give you time to breathe and let things build up which may due to the fact unlike the og anime or even the live action films the drama tag isn't there to let it moments play out slowly when they need to
Well, I think it's too early to judge the new anime, since we have just watched 3 episodes till now (and, If you read the manga as well, you know that the drama parts doesn't start immediately at the beginning) ☺️. At the end of the first part (If I'm not wrong there will be 24 episodes divided in 2 parts) I will be able to give my opinion.
_Kaoru: ..Wanderer? ..is it true?_ *Kenshin, the Battousai: ..yes ..I am the Manslayer* _Kaoru: why did you hide your powers? for.._ *Kenshin: ..the world needed my power ..for their Survival* _Kaoru: .. .._ *Kenshin: ..not just my own* _Kaoru: ..selfish_ *Kenshin: yes.. but if i had this power.. then this is what it was meant for..* _Kaoru: ..and i was meant to_ *Kenshin: ..show me how it was supposed to be used, all along..* _Kaoru: .. .._
seriously. fuck youtube. there were 3 clips of this scene in japanese on youtube and now they all gone. fuck that. do i have to buy the blu-ray and skip to this scene with my remote everytime i want to see it? are we in the fucking 90's? fuck that.
Don't. Please. No. Not that song. I first heard it in the Godfather. Like, the third movie (original) was good. I was actually surprised that one got hate, but damn, the end made me cry, and the music made it worse.
The 2023 version copies this word for word in its dub but without the emotion in the dialogue or the excellent music cavalleria rusticana Richard cansino is western kenshin Stephen fu can’t hold a candle to him end of story

There's simply no comparison. This is the superior scene. Cinematography, art, music. This scene is superior to the remake 2023 version.
I agree
100% agree

After 20 years, this scene still breaks my heart.
The new farewell can't top the OG farewell.
The new one did it so wrong. They messed up the tone and mood.
I still remember, Kaoru went totally, full on DEPRESSED after this
This is still my favorite anime, and this scene still brings tears to my eyes. I love Kenshin/Kaoru so much!
Have you try attack on titan? My favorite anime, and I love samurai x
Same instead haven't you watched trust and betrayal
The new anime just couldn't top this scene. I feel like they didn't even try.
Yep lack of dramatic scene… good but not tha ‘good’

One the great scenes in anime history. 90s anime was stacked! Yu Yu, slam dunk, kenshin, etc… unreal

I love how the animation for this scene feels clearly more well produced than rest of the anime.
These many years, yet I'm still here.
The twitching in Kaoru's chin is just amazingly animated.
One of the loneliest yet most revealing of all of the samurai x’s episode. Their love team is truly one of my all time favorites
Una de las mejores escenas de la primera saga de Samurai X....❤
This moment was very special, they chose the perfect animators for this episode
Wish I could find this scene today with better quality and sound...not complaining glad at least we got this
Always come back on May 14th.
All the work he did to create this new era of peace. Would he want it all to be undone?
Great scene love this anime.
I remember the first time watching this I was so damn depressed lol
What a memorable scene

I can't wait to see this scene in the new Kenshin anime 😍

Allen and lanelee moment brought me back here 😍😍❤️
Hulu watered down Rurouni Kenshin on there, Netflix did justice!!!!
Didn't Netflix take it down?
the dub is soo so bad on hulu
The ost reminds of the ending of the godfather part 3 and Saskue leaving the village ain't got nothing on this
Yeah. Sasuke was also a jerk there.
I will always love you Joy

Whats the title of the music background. Anyone? So beautiful
Look up raging bull theme here on UA-cam. I don't know the name, but that'll lead you to it.
@@Alejandro4891 thank you so much sir. The title was ''cavalliera rusticana''
It was also used in the Godfather Part 3

Anyone know what this music is called ?
This is Pietro mascagni's Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana ☺️
@@leonardoa.9481true classic
The remake butchered this scene, they play the upbeat ending theme during Kenshin's departure and it completely ruins how sad it's supposed to be.
Which episode is this
Ep 31
What episode is this?
What episode was this?
