Your mix of culture history & natural geography is lovely & fulfilling. Folk of any interest can watch your videos & be educated & or entertained. Your perfect mix. Thank you.
Ahh, hello from Cornwall, St Austell Bay. What a lovely tour. I ahem joined you and hope to see more of your tours soon. Waving across the miles Marie-Louise xxx
Frankly Vaughn & ‘The Green Door’ saw him once at the Talk of the Town in London. The Lambeth Walk - good voice Andrew you ought to be on the stage ha ha!! & those amazing stories of time gone bye - St Ives is a ‘winner’ any time of the year - the light is gorgeous even on a dull day. 10 out of 10, St Ives is always stunning.
Used to work just round the corner from the real Lambeth Walk!! Oi!!! Fab views of St.Ives in winter (you know it's winter when the bobble hat comes out!!). Lunch looked nice too! Great video with green doors a la Shakin' Stevens and star crossed lovers. (Think my front door might have had an accolade as the oldest in Kent at one time....thankfully it's been replaced now!) Ha! x J x
Love the history of St Ives and the stories those streets could tell , , a fascinating alleyway is Court Cocking leading from Fore Street to the Wharf ans Salubrious Terrace too. Great vid as al;ways guys,,,,,,,,Brian&Jane.
Thanks for another great video guys and keeping us entertained with the interesting stories, we are so lucky that you film it for us when we are stuck at home. ,
Love this video, always amusing, interesting and great fun to watch.thankyou. we love st ives and often visit with our children and grand children , never seen the green door though.
Hi Both. Been unable to watch for a while but now back up to speed. Have visited St Ives since first staying at St Margaret's Hotel in Carbis Bay in 1984. Now demolished and replaced with modern flats. ☹️. Lots of familiar sights. Many wonderful times spent in and around Carbis Bay and St Ives. Never knew about the green door. Fascinating to hear what you said. If we ever get past covid, will certainly look at it. Getting older now, so journey from Wales is becoming tougher. Brilliant and informative as ever.
Love the “green door” simply beautiful 200 years of privacy … maybe it’s 100 years old…you do have a photo taken in 1931 of the village, too bad there’s no photo of the door though! , that would take you back at least 90 years plus…maybe that number has something to look into…. “love lane”reminds me of “penny lane” superb! …love your stories 💐…. And all the stones came tumbling down!!!! 😉…love the tiny walk ways….your meal so yummy, very warm and cozy for this time of the year! Again, thanks for the lovely video … be safe …Ana 🌹
Another great video. I love St. Ives and every video you have done in this village is so much fun and interesting. Really enjoyed this visit. Thanks. 💕
Thank you. Such a pleasure to watch. I love the turquoise sea which is so clear and the stories you tell us. You have wonderful books and old photos! I hope the miner found love in the end - with welcoming in laws :) 👩❤👨
A fun ramble amongst the alleys and charming seaside cottages. The old books and photos really add to the experience. How funny about the green door. I love to see all of your terrific Cornish beaches. Lovely hat, Sarah. Proof the weather has turned.
Hi Sarah and Andrew, Loved todays video. We love St Ives. A long time ago myself and my late husband stayed in a hotel behind Porthminster beach and each morning early, I would cross over the road and down a little narrow pathway which led straight onto the beach, and walk along the tides edge, no one else around - Beautiful! I also love Fore Street with all the quaint little shops especially one of the fudge shops where we used to get fudge sent home at Christmas. All the nooks and crannies with the little cottages (shame about the wheelie bins.) Years ago I remember my uncle who used to live in Penzance in terraced cottages, kept his bin outside at the back of the house and because there was only one entrance and exit had to carry it through the house from the back yard and up through the side stairs to the front on dustbin day. That's the only day the bins were on show. Thank you for showing us the places we haven't seen. My son and I shall have a look for the green door next time we're there.❤️
I love PorthMinster Beach because, I saw The Queen (god bless her) arrive in Cornwall at the train station next to it back in 2010 or 2011. Great video to return to Sarah and Andrew as I spent most of my life growing up in St.Ives and I haven't watched in ages because, I haven't had time to but now I have the time, it's a nice return video.
Hi Sarah and Andrew. Enjoyed your walk around At Ives today. Saw parts I have never seen before and I loved seeing the old photos and hearing the old stories about the places and people really interesting.
Thank you Andrew and Sarah for a lovely video, St Ives is one of our favourite places in Cornwall. I loved the history and the green door, we had our photo taken by it as well. You made it very interesting despite having visited quite a few times, Well done, hope the new puppy is doing well, look forward to your next video. 🤗
That wall 21:24 ish ......... we used to hold our dd up to lookover it every year until one year she could look over it herself ..... now she hasnt been with us but with her own OH for the past few years... one day we might all go together but its full of memories. Great interesting video ........ going to watch again later
Yay! my stomping ground! You never disappoint, this is fab. You got a good day for it! I’ll admit I’ve watched this at least three times - so relaxing ☕️ ❤
Lovely video as usual. We were in St Ives during half term, busy but gorgeous as ever. Did you know there is an older door, I think. It’s in Fish Street and has a sign giving the date, which I can’t remember off the top of my head!
Love St Ives later in the year, not so crowded. Last time I was there I bumped into an old schoolfriend I last saw in the mid 70s standing on the terraces at football.
Thank you for this lovely video and for your preparations and the interesting stories. I'll surely take a look at the green door the next time I visit St. Ives. About the other doors - perhaps they are just as old, but the owners have been better at maintenance 😉😁 Have a lovely weekend. Torunn 😍
Really enjoy your historic cross-referencing with texts/vintage images from your library on Cornwall. I have a bit of a thing about front doors (a little like Andrew with post-boxes). The general rule of thumb for period external (& most internal) doors is that Georgian ones are six-panelled and Victorian four-panelled. I'm guessing the beautiful 'Green Door' is most likely Victorian...but don't tell anyone :). So enjoyed Andrew's singing, only you two didn't join arms and do the jaunty dance-walk to go with it! Here in London I live at the other end of Lambeth (large borough), and had no idea that that stretch of the harbour wall in St Ives was 'Lambeth Walk' :)
Very interesting! I thought the same about panelling on doors but I wasn't sure so held back from saying on video. We love that it catches the imagination! Sarah :)
@@CornishWalkingTrails I love the Green Door, its preservation, and its ancient story! ~ something of a 'Narnia' portal (wardrobe door) to it...a magical world of all sorts of possibilities just beyond :)
Enjoyed your entertaining stroll round beautiful “St Ives” it’s many years since my late husband and I visited there, you re-Kindled some lovely memories again Sarah and Andrew, I was almost tempted to do the Lambeth Walk but I probably would have fallen over, so had a good sing song instead! 🤗
Bloody green door! All you get on social media is green door and nearly there trees. Come out mums and queues to get photo done at green door. 18.06 your outside mums.
My Mrs loves st ives but then she idnt Cornish like me, I find it too busy for my liking no matter what time of year. Spent couple of years working there for the GPO putting in telephones.
