    Such an interesting and helpful story, thank you Daniel and Robert! I love this phrase "Insomnia is an IQ test that you passed", and also hearing about all the various stages of the journey.

    I bought your book. It was an interesting read. For over a month now I sleep with regularity...every other night. I have a ton of sleep confidence...but unfortunately I'm equally confident that I won't sleep the following night. It is very predictable. I still get up and go (gym/exercise) on the days where I havn't had any sleep. Is this common? Is there a way to normalize my sleep and get on an every night schedule?

    I think the name of the person you were trying to say is “NiNA” a lot of people make references with her story, I usually go watch her story all the time, I was doing well, then I started having speed bumps after I had a heated argument with my husband ( I hate to have issues with him, he is my best person in the whole world ) after that, we made up that same day and we both said our sorry but I kept dwelling on it for reasons I don’t know why. Then last night I took biazepam cox I felt well, this might work today since I have been sleeping on my own, and I did not sleep at all, not one bit. Here I am again looking for motivation. It’s tiring. I think it’s the fear of the fear happening to me. Some times I tried to drift away with other thoughts like Nina suggested but it’s as though the brain knows am trying to avoid it and then it’s like I am scared but not admitting that I am scared of what if . I don’t think I made any sense with that last line but I am determined to keep pushing

      Yes Nina! I think her story moves people because she has a musical voice and a pretty face. Her suffering was the same as others but seems more poignant.

    So let me get this right the brain fear sleeping and you fear not sleeping and that what causes the arousal? You until you and your brain get on the same page?

    • @SAMEntalhealth
      @SAMEntalhealth 5 місяців тому

      The brain fearing sleep and needing sleep goes back to our Evolution as humans. Think about humans in the stone ages when they would have to basically sleep with one eye open because of different predatorial creatures or enemies around constantly trying to attack them, so being that that was a part of survival it goes to the subconscious of the brain the part of your brain that you don't even need to give any effort it thinks for itself, and then there's your Forefront that pretty much like you said you also fear not sleeping consciously rather than just subconsciously, so one of them is pretty much innate inside of us and then the other is something else that we fear,

    Hi Daniel, I’ve asked this before and never got an answer and really would appreciate some help or guidance. Weekdays I go to bed pretty early as I am an early riser and wake up at 5-5:30. On weekends my friends like to go for later dinners and drinks. Even if I come home at 9:30 or 10, I still am anxious that I am out of my routine and that it’s going to take me a long time to fall asleep. Even on weekends I wake up usually at the same time, and I think the anxiety stems from thinking I can’t sleep in. Is there any guidance or advice you can help me with? Please help xoxo

      @@mestayno I’ve watched that video before but never thought of me having my regular “routine” everyday and not being lenient would be the cause of that. I definitely have to step out of my comfort zone then and go through the anxiety and fear of that and just remind myself of everything I’ve learned. Thank you xoxo

      @@brittanymordovin3975 most welcome :)) I also go to sleep at the same time usually. When I have to change that I remind myself that there’s nothing I can do really to make myself sleep, and the gas and break model. This reminding myself just turned into a sleep effort I think so now I sleep a little worse, onto befriending again :)

    i liked youd questions daniel, and i liked the thoughts of robert about insomnia (for example his comparison of insomnia with the fear of the death).
    i am still on my journey with insomnia, maybe because i lived so many years with the fear without understanding what it is.
    thank you for all your work!
