How to Chalk Paint, Sea Spray Texture and Use a Transfer

- This week we are going to makeover this beautiful Empire Dresser using some Dixie Belle Chalk Paint, Sea Spray texture additive and a Re-Design with Prima transfer! We will focus around a textured "Colonel Mustard" which is a beautiful mustard yellow. Some "Coffee Bean" and Mud Puddle" will set the undertones and some dry brushing. I'll try out a transfer for the first time in a leaf design. Finally some easy peasy Spray Wax and Black Wax to finish the look off. It's another furniture makeover "how to" I really ended up loving.

I was a little worried when you showed us the yellow, but I should have known not to be concerned. All your work turns out awesome! I just completed my first transfer piece this morning. It’s not too difficult if you can keep the piece still.

If I were rich I would buy all the transfers available and find furniture put them all on, I love working with transfers. Re-design by Pima and IOD transfers. I am glad to see you dry brushing I love how your pieces turn out when you dry brush, it is a better way of distressing in my opinion.

You worked so harad on this dresser and had so many techniques and products involved but nothing grabbed my attention as much as Duke with his deflated football. He's such a sweet dog. Best comedy award to Kacha "where's my makeup people" while flinging hair all over and video director hollering "make up crew." Giggled through entire presentation. Nicely done and dresser turned out great.

When using the transfers like that and given you had an uneven surface, go ahead and use a sponge after you scratched it off it. This helps to fill the lower areas in. The transfer also will adhere to the surface a bit better😊 love your show bunches🌸🌸🌸

I love watching you,even though I have been painting and decorating for almost 35 years,still like people painting or creating art..
Best paint for artistic finish is Annie Sloan Chalk Paint and please try IOD Iron Orchid designes products,their transfers are so elegant not like decoupage from Redesign with prima transfers.They have paintable transfers too..IOD stamps are amazing,too.Hey,I am not selling IOD by the way.Quality is amazing,go and watch their videos on UA-cam..you wont regret..

Have you tried the Dixie Bell yet Canan? I was a die hard Annie Sloan paint user for years but I finally branched out and found so many paint brands that are equally wonderful. Dixie Bell is a spectacular paint. I love the finish. I also use DIY chalk paint often when I want certain effects. I've used a few of the IOD transfers but I began to find everyone is using them so the unique factor began disappearing. I went back to making my own. They really aren't difficult to make at all. I make paintables using the same process plus one step. Stamps are stamps. It's the design quality that matters to me. I have several I'd originally gotten to use with polymer clay that work beautifully for furniture. What I love most that IOD carries are their molds. Of course I'm a mold addict and have several brands.. but a couple of the IOD ones are my favorites. I guess what I'm saying is never limit yourself. Try everything you can get your hands on.. mix and match like crazy. The piece I just finished I used 4 different brands of paint on to get exactly what I wanted. I've even been known to mix different brands of paint together depending on what color I need. It's the spice of life!

Kacha----You are my favorite furniture artist. I've watched everyone and your techniques are the best---I'm trying to absorb enough to feel confident to start my own small business. I've been in the design industry for over 30 years and am now semi retired---I miss the creativity and honestly I need additional income. BUT-----today I have a different question---I am in love with your dogs. I grew up with bulldogs---I know both duke and blue are American Bulldogs but what type---there are five different types and I am most attracted to Duke and Blue's structure and face----I could kiss all over Blue's face----LOL I know Blue came from Louisiana---I am originally from Louisiana and went to college in Blue's home town of Lafayette.
By the way----I am with you EVERYTHING IS A LITTLE BETTER WITH A TOUCH OF GOLD.

Sometimes! Sometimes you can use complimenting colors as well!
