I love Dark Souls more than anything, but man, it would be so much better if we could go to Lothric and be like "Bro, you seem to have the right idea, let's team up."
Fr. While most of the Souls bosses are monsters or lost their mind, there's plenty who are still in their mind and who we don't really have to or might not want to fight. What's even more frustrating is that From already did something along these lines. In Demon's Souls, there was a secret boss Old King Doran. But the thing is, you don't have to kill him. After a fair bit of a fight, he says that you've proven yourself and gives you the sword without having to kill him. Also worth noting the various NPCs that we can spare through the games, whether it's Saving Solaire from the Sun Bug or some other similar stuff. Would've been cool if you could actually work around and space some bosses, either during a fight or by doing something before the fight. I get that entropy Is the point of these games and that the budget is a thing and these games always still end up with a sea of cut content, but still would've been cool to see these things.
There’s two sides to this. On one hand, they’re not entirely wrong in denying the fire. Obviously it’s a system that doesn’t work. It hasn’t worked since Dark Souls 1 when Gwyn was still alive. On the other hand… they weren’t right, either. By denying it and just sitting in their throne room doing quite literally nothing but waiting for Ash to come find them, they’ve cursed their own kingdom with an everlasting zombie apocalypse. This is where I wish DS3 had referred to dS2 at all, or at least Aldia. A side quest line where you help Lothric find/finish the rest of Aldia’s research, finding a true third option, or even a throwaway line about the first Sin would have been SOMETHING.
@Repurposed Diesel Submarine Engine Exhaust because it's the end of the Soul's cycle and series. Also if you're into theory crafting then it would be the direct lead up to Bloodborne, as fire based civilization comes to an end, blood has become more important in each souls game up to the worship of blood over souls, and the foretelling of the age of the deep dark sea...
Has anyone ever noticed how the arena where you fight Gundyr looks like an exaggerated version of the Lordran Firelink? Round plaza, huge tree, crumbling arches...
@pbhtllt theyre talking about firelink in Dark souls 1 apparently its located in the twin princea boos fight arena and although there are similarities like the well for eg i doubt it imo its just a theory
@pbhtllt yeah they tough had to summon two phantoms to beat them personally, also again there are similaritiys to the first firelink in ds1 again the well but i just personally doubt it although could be true as in ds1 you are below The kingdom of Lordran/anor londo and above a lower kingdom(i have not finished ds1 yet so idk if i ever get to go down there)
@pbhtllt i assume its similar to the road of sacrifices/Farren keep swamp area in ds3, my friend who has played through all 3 ds games told me not to go there until later in the game anyway
IMO The Untended Graves is easily the most contradictory and dividing topic in Dark Souls 3. You can argue your interpretation in a number of ways, and you can crush someone's argument just as easily. I've tried and failed to make this video in the past. I decided to represent it in Prepare to Cry because PtC is about interpretation, not speculation. It's about telling a story, rather than explaining it. I honestly think it's impossible to explain away a lot of this place - here's one example: why does Ludleth's throne exist in the darkened shrine, if we are to accept the darkened shrine is in the past? If I had to explain every contradiction in the Untended Graves, I would bore the hell out of everyone and I wouldn't even be able to draw a solid conclusion. Trust me, i've tried. It gave me c o n n i p t i o n s. Most topics in Souls are great because they ask and answer the perfect amount of questions. Untended Graves asks a thousand unanswerable questions. Hopefully this video extracts the best parts of the story, and gives you something to think about.
I think Lorian and Lothric are my favourite characters in DS3. Their story is amazing. The fact than Lorian embraced his brother's curse, because he wanted to, not because he was supposed to do so, it shows the true love (no homo though) the brothers had. And in regards of them denying the linking of the fire, I can understand it. Look what the curse has done to their family. Their father turned into a dragon, in his madness he created an invisible dragon-child, their kingdom is falling to pieces. It's only natural that they oppose to be Lords of Cinder, and I agree with them.We already know that linking the fire is not permanent, and maybe, it's time for the Age of Dark.
except the age of dark doesn't work either. the fire itself has become undead, it can't die like it was supposed to. the firekeeper openly tells you that the eyes see the age of dark, with fire dancing on the horizon, like little embers. the eyes are seeing the cycle, fire-dark-fire again. and lothric's story is definitely one of the saddest. neither brother wanted their fate, and lothric isn't evil in the slightest. lorian is defending his crippled brother from the unkindled that just walked in with a deadly weapon, and lothric tells you to rest, even if you rest with them, and just stop fighting for the flame when lorian kills you. even worse is that despite neither brother having even half of their body functional, their only thoughts in the battle is to keep you away from the other one.
"it shows the true love (no homo though) the brothers had." Oh DS fangirls will make sure that there will be some incest gay love between them in their fanstories. You will see, you will see.
but if the fire is undead and left alone what will happen, will it become so saturated in sacrificed humanity that it will become a flame of humanity rather than light?
Lithric Nostrimont if that were going to happen, it would have already. all that ash in the final arena came from somewhere after all, and we only know of two non-human lords, yhorm and gwyn. no, if the fire linking fails enough, the end seems to be that desert at the end of the ringed city, the world crushed to dust and dark falling over a silent, stagnant land, with only embers to keep it alive in that state, forever.
Ludleth’s dialogue brought me to tears. I’m not sure why but there’s something deeply sad about his suffering and the suffering of all the past lords of cinder.
why don't you offer a better solution? would you rather google hire millions of people to fish through the billions of videos to flag video the should be flagged? would you rather they not flag any videos, and have all ad revenue pulled since no advertisers will trust they have their ads on videos they are comfortable with? the only real solution is bots and they are going to always make mistakes, and if people are getting pissed that its effecting their ad revenue then maybe posting videos on a free website with hopes of making money wasn't a good business model to begin with. most of these people are talented and are wasting it on what was meant to be a side hobby, a place to experiment and maybe start a career, not a place to have as your career.
da_jeezuss it's there is a difference between making mistakes and making the same mistake over and over again and nothing being done to fix it. UA-cam makes Google millions of dollars, none of which would happen without these content creators. It is a mutually beneficial relationship. The way you attempt to portray it is just silly. These creators make them money by putting in time and effort to make content. UA-cam needs to figure out how to rectify the situation. Trying to downplay UA-cam's responsibility in not screwing its creators is ridiculous.
lol.. I haven't played ds3 to the end yet, so didn't know about the demon prince, but it was so super clear that the demon from below and the demon in pain are a mirror i age of the twin princes- one has eyes hidden (like the elder) one not- one of the brothers is in pain, the other sits on the ground.. but its funny how obviously connected they are
never made that parellel before. fire demon fights to protect his king who in defeat falls to the ground whimpering and too weak to slam his mighty hammer. huh
This is why I always choose to let the fire die. I had already decided to do this, so having to kill Lothric and Lorian was really heartbreaking for me tbh. They seemed to be the only intelligent and sane people in a sea of undead insanity. Let the world fade into darkness.
I totally agree! I wish that we could talk to them and let them live because it feels really weird and wrong killing them if you literally have the same goals.
Vaati's original script: "Sure, the Fire Keeper will always be there for you as a waifu, but what about when you're not there for her? She's disposable, forgotten, just like every waifu when the newest one comes along."
I've always thought of the grand betrayal ending as the final good ending to dark souls, the gods in their want to extend the power wished to keep it at all costs, using the darksign, tying life to the fire to stop people from resisting the gods, giving humans the temptation of everlasting life and every time we link the fire we put a temporary patch on a life cycle that has been marred by greed and only gives way to more hollows, and the grand betrayal was to snuff out the flame and put an end to the cycle, and start anew far in the future with the natural cycle of life and death, as the fire keeper says: far in the distance I see tiny flickering flames, all life dies out but it will someday rise once again, bringing close to the old age and allowing a new world to take it's place.
67IronwhalEi think his last bb video was about some of the differences in the English and Japanese versions of the game, but he also promised things like a prepare to cry for lady maria which he still hasn't done
I think Ludleths nightmare is why the other lords of Cinder don’t come back. Linking the fire is probably agony, so of course they don’t want to bear it again. I think that’s what makes Ludleth special. He knew it’s agony, but he returned and even had his legs cut off to stop him from fleeing his duty.
I'm 2 years late for the fight. I'd've loved to throw down with Vaati's champ on PS4. I LOVE PVP in the undead matches cause I don't get thrown back 3 hours of gameplay for loosing.
This is such a well written episode. It’s so smooth in how it tells the story. Maybe it’s my love of the Princes but jeez I could listen to this over and over. The music, the voice, the cinematic 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
The more lore about dark souls i understand the more i realize that every struggle and guild and really everything in the game is an allegory for life.
These duel prizes in 2 weeks sound great! *checks when video was released, three years ago... 🥲

But what about the description of Irina of Carim's ashes - her "grand treachery"? And what about the fact that the black eyes are found in the same location she sits in the lit version of Firelink Shrine?
He also goes from Lothric never burning himself as a lord to Lothric and his brother tricking their firekeeper into dulling the flame, watch Vaati vids long enough and you realize half of it's total speculation and the other half is plot holed fan theory
And remember the knights patrolling before the shrine are black knights not silver knights - and if this version is not the past, that would mean that we travel into another version but a version which is in the past ? Basically how do we get there and how do we get back ? Because if the curse can be broken ( which is implied by the old lady) that would mean, that we enter not only a different reality but we really link our realm to that place to usurp the first flame ?
Das2 has been confirmed as being "canon" (I hate that word but it works) for awhile now but mindless miyazaki dickriders refuse to accept it and just want to R1 spam for eternity.
Um, there's nothing about lookylookman's comment that suggests it is or is not canon and there's no whining about DS2 so I don't know why you two repliers brought it up.
So took a bit of thinking and reading every dialogue and watch others thoughts on Ludleth but I think i got it. Really appreciate all reading this. Ludleth clearly belonged to the time line of linking the fire related to the boss Gundyr. Gundyr was stated to be late, tho. Thus taking a knee and waiting to test a new champion. Because he was late, Ludleth took his place to link the fire. He willed it his own and was proud, he states the proof of it is his charred body which is why he has no legs most likely because he did not have a strong enough soul. But he had enough souls to accomplish it, due to the soul feeder. The ring he drops helps us with this. We know Ludleth was from Gundyr's time line because not only does he recall becoming a lord a long time ago, but recognizes the eyes you find from a fire keeper stating "we did all we could to spare her from them". It was forbidden for fire keepers to have eyes, but because she did see it, she informed Ludleth about the cold dark future that will come. Hence he willed it his own to link the fire, hence the dark cold world we see of 2nd Gundyr (unattended graves). It was cold and dark because Ludleth hadn't linked the fire yet. Hence why Ludleth cries out its not his fault and asks for forgiveness in his sleep cuz Gundyr was late and he was not meant to link the fire. I appreciate you all for reading this far I know its a lot to read. I would love for you to get the word out and share as much as possible especially since I'm so late to Dark Souls and due to me being about 90% sure the statements above are on point. Im not 100% cuz theres always something that might have been missed. I cover theories below for the unknown but thats all basically a tease and justification of future pondering. Last paragraph really hits a mark related to Gundyr. These paragraphs below would all be considered theories of my own with hints of others thoughts: Ludleth emphasizes that he willed to link the fire of his own choosing. This is important, why? Because he was given the title Exiled. I assume he was exiled related to trying to help the fire keeper or related to the Soul Feeder. Fire keeper was forbidden to have eyes, thus he could have been related to that. Or because the stain on Courland for transposing souls. Hard to justify either since we dont know when the stain on Courland's honor occurred and if he tried to prevent the fire keeper from using the eyes or was he trying to prevent people from killing/punishing the fire keeper for the forbidden act. Again hard to say could have been exiled for another means. Another theory that could be, is that because he willed it to link the fire, he was exiled. Why? because he was a pygmy and as we know the humans long ago were aware of the dark soul thus trying to create the age of man. Proof hidden church leading to Dark eater Midir and related text on items. A pygmy trying to link the fire could possibly be exiled for it. Lastly among theories was that he may have been hollowing so he was Exiled and given a quest to link the fire. Thus why he emphasized he willed to link the fire of his own choice. Lastly why does Gundyr have the sword of "Kiln of the first flame" stuck within him? Possible reasons, simply to start the fight for a newb. Could be cuz a future champion came along the path and Gundyr tested him. Or could be because you visited the world and slew him (pile of ashe was created with said sword on that spot. When new game starts u take that said sword and move it to where fire keeper is. MIND BLOWN) Time lapsing crazy stuff theory on that last one. Anyways that wound caused an infection related to monstrosity's which we never find much about other than some skeletons transforming into it when agro'd. Maybe those monstrosity's are actually the last phase of hollowing? Which would explain the theory of Gundyr time lapse. He revives into the sword and turns hollow over time. Think about it, that was a long ass time ago like when the ring city was still new-ish. Would make sense as to why Abominations are last phase of hollowing over time. Related to the dark soul?
Wow, such detailed comment and not even a reply, i guess a lot of people just skipped because it's too long or something.. I'm not gonna say anything about your theory because i'm not a lore person in Ds3 (no offence to all thinks otherwise but i feel it has a little boring plot and side quests when you compare it with it's predecessors) but thank you for sharing your thoughts mate, well done :)
A few additions, I think the abomination that appears on Gundyr is abyssal infection due to the flame almost going out the abyss is taking the world and ludleth links the flame just in time and the reason why he had the sword in him is because he was saving it for someone in the next age so that they can link the flame easier without having finding the sword. He would have had background knowledge on where the ashen one would come from as he was one. His final move was to sacrifice himself for the sake of ease in the next age. After all his failure was surely disgraceful and this was all he could do to compensate. I think this theory holds strong and I like it quite a bit👍🏻
I really don’t think it would work. Dark souls is great because it’s not in ur face, that’s why it works as a video game. If you don’t pay attention and don’t search for it, you won’t find a story. In a movie or book it has to be explicitly stated or shown in some way
@@RM22201 it will definetly need some changes as a movie .... but i think dark souls movie will be amazing enough to dominate GOT triology ........ Dark souls movie can be more action n survival and less talk .......
Let them have their break from the series, it's not like they're going to completely stop Soulsborne gameplay anytime soon. (After all, that formulae was their biggest $$ maker by far.) If they feel like the Souls story has something to tell, they'll come back to it eventually.
honestly I'd rather hope theyd just make a completely new title that shares the basic mechanics of the souls games but in another universe (like they did with bloodborne). do not get me wrong i love the souls series but imo fromsoft just does not that well with sequels, compared to original titles...
Maybe it's nothing, but have you ever noticed that the current fire keepers blindfold she wears has a moving sigil behind it that looks like the moving sigil inside the complete crown you get in DS2? It shows it quite clearly in the opening and no one ever mentions it.
Ink Tea if it's only found on the completed crown, then it probably prevents hollowing. it may be why firekeepers can die and return with no ill effects and why they can die permanently when they're "retired".
Stas Twinkleton losing sight of your purpose only makes you go mad. you will still zombify, you just retain your sanity. like the moss lady in DS1. but we've never seen a zombified firekeeper, have we?
undeniably the best way to go about a giveaway or "competition". absolutely love it. Oh damn, i havent stopped by for a while. you reached 1m subs, bravo dude. well deserved m8. gg
Damn Vaati, I absolutely love every single one of your videos. I can't imagine how hard it is to find topics around Dark Souls nowadays though because you've covered just about everything I can imagine.
vaati i think you got something wrong, you seem to think when you move from the lotric castle to the untended graves you move to the past, but i think this is wrong. we already learned that bonfires can make undeads travel throught time, the only wasy to access lotric castle from firelink shrine is via bonfire, but you can actually walk your way from lotric castle to the firelink shrine via the untended graves without the use of bonfire. so i believe its not only untended graves bit actually all lotric is located in the past so to speak. so i think is something like this: start the game in the present -> travel to the past (lotric) and kill all the lords of cinder -> travel to the future and fight the last boss (also the ringed city is located in this era) -> goes even more into the future and fight gael.
If that's the case what kind of age is the present in? I think it would make more sense that the bonfire you use in the shrine does more of a transport than move you through time. I don't see the need why travelling back in time would be necessary if all lords are present in the time you rise from the grave, now i don't deny your idea but at the same time i'm not entirely convinced either. I'm still confused after all as to why the "light" firelink shrine is physically cutoff from the world and their locations different, i lean more on the thought that untended graves behind an illusory wall is a temporal field stopped in the past.
im not sure, i think the present is some kind of timeparadox, if what darksouls 2 show was true it seems undeads from different era are called to a specific point in time in order to relink the first flame (the cutscne in darksouls 2 shows the bearer of the curso going back into past when he jumps into that black portal thing). so in resume the present is an age where the fisrt flame was relinked but the ashen one is summoned back to life to make sure that the relink of the flame takes place. there is one thing that i never understood and that is lotric. according to the lore the lords of cinder came back from their graves so that they could relink the first flame but they refused to do so. the problem is lotric is said to be a lord of the cinder that would mean he already linked the first flame once, but the whole game tells you he refused to link the flame. so there is a contradiction, he is one of the 5 lord of the cinder but he never linked the first flame. thats why i think there is a time paradox in work here. so maybe you are took back in time to the exact point where this paradox takes place in order to ensure that you "present" stays that way. unfortunally most of this is conjuction
In light of dark souls 2 = Yes i also think it is very much possible, but in-game i also cannot see any proof of such or as i said before what necessity there would be for such a phenomenon, but either way it doesn't seem to change much on the outcome of the story does it? except... If i recall there is one lord who did not become lord by virtue but through might, and that would be Aldrich, if that is the case there is no need for a lord to have linked the fire in the past in order to obtain that title, rather one only needs a strong and hefty soul that would burn for the fire. With that It would now seem the unkindled are the only ones that fit in this scenario, so I can argue that there is no need for a time paradox to explain the lothric's lordship.
aldrich burned into the fire because he came back alive as well. in the cutscene said the the lords of the cynder had retunerd the abyss watcher ladrich and yorn, so aldrich also had came back to life the game says so, also like you said he became a because his soul was strong enough to burn and so it happen. but the cutscne never mentioned lotric. well it also didnt mentioned ludlef but you can see that his body is charred and also you can hear his nightmares of him burning. so yeah in order to be a lord of cinder you actually need to link the first flame
Thank you for making these amazing lore videos. I love the souls series more than any other game franchise. The use of audio and character dialogue is fantastic way to explain some of the convoluted story lines.
Potate -O who would you play as? What would be the point? We already know almost everything that happened, so it'll be pretty pointless to make a game during that time period. However running with that idea, I do think it would be amazing if there was a game that took place in a random city somewhere in-between the events of 1 & 2. Where the curse is just starting to take hold and society is beginning to unravel. Now that has a lot of potential, and there are so ways it could go. Anyway back to your comment, I think your idea would make a good comic/book but a poor game.
splinter360 True, however just because some of the details of that time period are vague and undefined doesn't mean there's enough there to make a full fledged game on it. Why? Well to be honest there's really no point to it we already know all the important information. Also... who would be the protagonist? Gwyn? A random person? What would your main objective be? Would it be a traditional Souls game? If so what would you be fighting? Who/what would the bosses be? Now I'm not saying there's no story to be told here, cause there is. It could be rather interesting BUT imo there just isn't enough there to justify a game. A short story or comic would more than suffice.
Personally, I think a souls game set during the war of the giants would be kinda bitchin. Like, I'm not sure how it would all play out and it probably wouldn't feel like a traditional 'souls' game. But have your character be a champion of one of the Lords of Cinder and go fight the giants with your pitiful but innumerable squadrons of humans.
I would like an anime showcasing the world before when it was grey and ruled by the dragons, how existence was for what wasn't dragons and then how the first flame and the 4 souls were found along with them preparing for the war.
Docraki as do I. I’d love to make and/or play a Souls’ game that’s not on the brink of death. However it’s all about when it takes place, if it’s after 1 but before 2 then you literally have countless ages of fire to work with. That said I don’t think that the world of Dark Souls was ever really happy smiles and rainbows lol.
@VaatiVidya The event taking place on Sep. 23rd sounds awesome! I really wish I could be apart of it. A chance to fight Vaati himself is amazing! After all it was your lore videos that made me fall in love with the Dark Souls series. I'm currently deployed in Afghanistan right now and unfortunately wont have the time to participate. Even still, I'm pumped for this. I hope you decide to stream some of the fights afterwards for us all to enjoy :) Best of luck to you and all the contestants!
I always speculated that Ludleth was this Soul Eater spoken about in a few item descriptions. It would explain his knowledge of Soul Transposition. I theorize he became a Lord of Cinder through defeat, capture, and forced will.
DarkestScratch but he says he "willed [himself] lord", meaning he was neither coerced nor forced into being the kindling. and it mentions that the soulfeeder's soul was transposed into the skull ring, which ludleth wears. what's more likely is that he was strong enough to support linking the fire due to beating the soulfeeder and absorbing it's power, then converting it into a ring.
Rest in Peace everyone in Britain who can't take part in this PvP event because Vaati is making it happen at 3 in the morning on a Sunday. A winrar is you Vaati.
Can't take part? _pffft_ It's gonna be 4AM in SA and that's not a problem! People stay up or wake up at 2/3AM here for Game of Thrones on Mondays and that dumb boxing match ezpz
Would be cool if a animated movie came out which took place in lothric before everything went to hell and told of what life was like then. Probably focus on the main bosses of dark souls 3
Its amazing how quickly I'm reminded that the Soulsborne series - Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Dark Souls III - is such an amazing trilogy of titles, whenever I watch a Vaati video.
This is so far the best explanation of the storyline I've ever seen. Thank your for the great work. I always had the confusion why all the lords of cinder refused so much to return to their own thrones. This story script is absolutely genius!
this probably doesn't matter much, but I noticed the Lords of Cinder kind of correlate to the four branches of Lothric. Abyss watchers for the hunters, Yhorm for the knights, Aldrich for the priestesses and the Twins for the scholars.
Lothric Hunters are secret assassins and use fast dual-wielding dex weapons. And they don't consume Wolf's blood. They are nothing like Abyss Watchers aside from the Watchers use a short dagger and a long sword. and they use long and short Katanas( I know the short and long "katanas" are different weapons)
I meant in terms of stat use, mostly. Abyss Watchers had dexterity based weapons. Aldrich used miracles. specifically lifehunt scythe. Yhorm uses his machete. Lothric doesn't really give you an intelligence weapon but he does use a variation of soul spear in his fight, and of course has strong ties lorewise to the scholars.
I would love to win the vinyl as since I've seen it it's been one of those things I'd love to buy but can't afford. Unfortunately I don't have the DLC either haha
i don't own the game on pc, i have it with dlc on ps4, and i am in college abroad, so sad life here. and i am a collector so that vinyl collection would mean a lot to me.
In the end we would need to start why all fire keepers are blind and what that indicates for those we met in Dark Souls 1. In the first Dark Souls fire keepers didn't have to be blind, so who is this first fire keeper which had the eyes? Who exactly is the fire keeper that escaped the abyss and was she blind too? How can the fire keeper react to your gestures if she's blind? Ok the last one was supposed to be funny, but I always get the idea, that Dark Souls 3 has the most plot holes in its stories. The stories on its own are mostly interesting, but if you try to combine them to create the world the holes appear.
That's why Miazaki doesn't want to make Bloodborne 2. DS1 lore was perfectly consistent, but with DS2 stuff started to pile up, resulting in the Dreg Heap of lore that we end up with in DS3.
To this day, I believe this is the best writing you've ever done for a character, the way the ending was written and used characters from all three games flawlessly is truly a masterpiece
This video really makes me tear up. It reminds me of my older brother. My brother is a muscular strong man. I’ve never seen him lose a fight ever. Ive called him a champion since I was 3 and I’m 31 now. Me? I was small, not a weakling, but nothing in comparison to him forsure. I’ve watched countless times as my brother fought valiantly to protect me because I was scared. Indeed Lorian had an undying love for his little brother. Much like mine did for me. Lorian embraced his brothers curse, my brother embraced my fear and made it his power to protect me. The first time I played through and got to Lorian and Lothric and learned their lore I was amazed.. I never played a game where I felt a representation of myself and my brother.
I always saw Ludleth as the Lord of Cinder that must uphold his duty, but in secret it terrifies him. That's why he keeps bringing up that he's a Lord of Cinder, it's what he tells himself to ensure his duty is fulfilled.
I think I might have a theory: The dark Firelink Shrine may be in the past or future but its a time when the firekeeper saw scenes of betrayal and was against the linking of the fire. So the flame was never linked. She might be responsible for the gravewardens patrolling the Untended Graves. The black knights might be there to kill the firekeeper which they might have done. They then locked her body along with the eyes in the depth of the shrine. The scholar might be the one who gave the eyes to the firekeeper to turn her against the linking the flame.
Vaati my dude, what are the chances of getting a list of your music from this episode? Specifically interested in the track that starts around 10:08 but I'd love to know if you list your sources on Patreon or something.
My favorite channel ever. Sorry I missed the battle weekend. It's okay I didn't win the stuff but I regret not having a chance to fight you. I'll keep watching. Please keep making videos. Hopefully Armored Core 6 has a compelling hidden story(ies).
Totally late to this video, but on topic, has anyone else noticed that the tree-like corpses reaching towards Lothric Castle in the beginning on the high wall look like the pilgrim butterflies?
Superlosia agreed! I just hope the next ip will have the same kind of complex, and up to interpretation kind of story. Not necessarily the same kind of gameplay. But the way they present the story and how detailed yet vague it is, is something I would love to play through again.
Fun Fact: You can see the Fire Keeper's eyes if you put your camera as close to her mask as possible when you're behind her and slowly walk away. In case you can't get this to work, her eyes are a silvery-grey colour.
I love all your videos but please if you have the time now that no more games of souls are coming out so soon, please return to the Prepare to Cry Bloodborne videos you promise us, we all want a Lady Maria, Ludwig, Laurence and whatever you feel worth it
HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS ANS ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL. HILARIOUS AND ORIGINAL.
I love Dark Souls more than anything, but man, it would be so much better if we could go to Lothric and be like "Bro, you seem to have the right idea, let's team up."
Yeah it seems the only boss you could spare is priscilla
Age of dark ftw

"it shows the true love (no homo though) the brothers had."
Oh DS fangirls will make sure that there will be some incest gay love between them in their fanstories.
Nahuel Muñoz well the age of dark is not permanent the embers of the age of fire will restart everything again so basically your choices don't matter

why don't you offer a better solution? would you rather google hire millions of people to fish through the billions of videos to flag video the should be flagged? would you rather they not flag any videos, and have all ad revenue pulled since no advertisers will trust they have their ads on videos they are comfortable with? the only real solution is bots and they are going to always make mistakes, and if people are getting pissed that its effecting their ad revenue then maybe posting videos on a free website with hopes of making money wasn't a good business model to begin with. most of these people are talented and are wasting it on what was meant to be a side hobby, a place to experiment and maybe start a career, not a place to have as your career.

Furionic696 he also is quick to say it's his interpretation and asks us all ours.

These paragraphs below would all be considered theories of my own with hints of others thoughts:
Ludleth emphasizes that he willed to link the fire of his own choosing.
Pretty well thought. I came up with a theory that is very similar to yours too.
Wow
A few additions, I think the abomination that appears on Gundyr is abyssal infection due to the flame almost going out the abyss is taking the world and ludleth links the flame just in time and the reason why he had the sword in him is because he was saving it for someone in the next age so that they can link the flame easier without having finding the sword. He would have had background knowledge on where the ashen one would come from as he was one. His final move was to sacrifice himself for the sake of ease in the next age. After all his failure was surely disgraceful and this was all he could do to compensate. I think this theory holds strong and I like it quite a bit👍🏻
An amazing theory and an amazing wall of text
Imagine a dark souls movie done right, that would be glorious

I really don’t think it would work. Dark souls is great because it’s not in ur face, that’s why it works as a video game. If you don’t pay attention and don’t search for it, you won’t find a story. In a movie or book it has to be explicitly stated or shown in some way

BIJON DΞSIGИS I would rather let them take their time, so the quality of the game would go up.
honestly I'd rather hope theyd just make a completely new title that shares the basic mechanics of the souls games but in another universe (like they did with bloodborne). do not get me wrong i love the souls series but imo fromsoft just does not that well with sequels, compared to original titles...
Yal Rathol No, Firekeepers never become hollow because they never lose sight (no pun intended) of their purpose.

I can't imagine how hard it is to find topics around Dark Souls nowadays though because you've covered just about everything I can imagine.
vaati i think you got something wrong,
you seem to think when you move from the lotric castle to the untended graves you move to the past, but i think this is wrong.
we already learned that bonfires can make undeads travel throught time, the only wasy to access lotric castle from firelink shrine is via bonfire, but you can actually walk your way from lotric castle to the firelink shrine via the untended graves without the use of bonfire. so i believe its not only untended graves bit actually all lotric is located in the past so to speak.
so i think is something like this:
start the game in the present -> travel to the past (lotric) and kill all the lords of cinder -> travel to the future and fight the last boss (also the ringed city is located in this era) -> goes even more into the future and fight gael.
Conjecture not conjunction. Also, Lothric not Lotric.
Thank you for making these amazing lore videos. I love the souls series more than any other game franchise. The use of audio and character dialogue is fantastic way to explain some of the convoluted story lines.
Man did anyone ever tell you that your voice sounds so epic
Does anyone else imagine Ludleth fighting the heir of cinder 😂
He was probably a glass cannon minmaxxer
We need a game set during a time Gwyn was alive, maybe when the fire first starts to fade
It was Pinwheel all along.
"in the unlikely event you beat me"
A bit confident aren't we? I like it ehehehe
I don't think I'm as excited for anyone uploading as much as when vaati uploads.
Rest in Peace everyone in Britain who can't take part in this PvP event because Vaati is making it happen at 3 in the morning on a Sunday.
A winrar is you Vaati.
Good thing I'm absolute trash at PvP, otherwise I might have actually considered staying up so late
bollocks, that's me out then :(
I will definitely stay awake for that. I play dark souls for the PvP and the Lore. So Vaati in PvP, it's a dream !!
But sleep is for people who have a high school to attend.
It's Me
Lothric Hunters are secret assassins and use fast dual-wielding dex weapons.
Yhorm resembles a knight in zero ways. Hell, as a king he is the exact opposite.
New video: gives me conniptions
I would love to win the vinyl as since I've seen it it's been one of those things I'd love to buy but can't afford. Unfortunately I don't have the DLC either haha
i don't own the game on pc, i have it with dlc on ps4, and i am in college abroad, so sad life here.
and i am a collector so that vinyl collection would mean a lot to me.
You can actually order them if you are in the EMEA they don't ship outside of that. Buut yeah they are pricey but soooooooo tempting.
Boosted Same glad to know I'm not the only one
Do you by any chance know the price?
They sell for about $43 CAD for each piece. about $140 for all 3 :X
Love these lore videos...the lore behind dark souls is so dark and solemn but beautiful at the same time
*_"Amazing Chest Ahead!"_*
What Vaati Said: "Think you can kill me in PvP?"
What Vaati Meant: "Come at me scrubs!"
I believe it’s all consistent if you put it together
"Who was the first scholar?"
*the series literaly has a game called SCHOLAR OF THE FIRST SIN*
Please make more lore-videos about darksoul 3 like this, really like your voice with the stories.
I was going to pre-order the vinyl soundtrack as soon as the words left your mouth, but it's not on the store yet. I cry.
Lorian and Lothric : Best characters, best story, best fight.
*gets on PS4. Finds the champion.*. "Hello hello!" *sees falchion, leaves*
O hullo!
Oroboro wait what
Love the Vids bro!
By the way, you never said what Soul Level the PvP event will be at. I'm assuming 120, right?
Whenever I write lore for my novel, I imagine an in story narrator with your voice :D
To this day, I believe this is the best writing you've ever done for a character, the way the ending was written and used characters from all three games flawlessly is truly a masterpiece
I'm amazed at the great cinematography, Dark Souls 3 has gorgeous visuals but you are going on another level with your usage of cameras.
Vaati is there any chance for more bloodborne videos?
bloodborne 2 is prob the next fromsoft game
so most likely yes
The menstruation, Vaati, what does it mean?
dai jin no. Probly not. They are making A new ip.
dai jin They said they aren't making another or plan too
Did he not cover everything from Bloodborne?
I realize this is 3 years old but I could listen to you tell any story bro. Thanks.
Does anyone else wish they could unlimitely fight bosses over and over again
cinders mod :)
What about Edwads betrayal?????
Vaati, what song is playing around 5:50? I like it. It's soothing.
David Celeste - Riddle Room
Néstor Vega thank you
I think this is my favorite lore video youve done yet Vaati. Keep up the awesome work.
I think I might have a theory:
The dark Firelink Shrine may be in the past or future but its a time when the firekeeper saw scenes of betrayal and was against the linking of the fire.
Specifically interested in the track that starts around 10:08 but I'd love to know if you list your sources on Patreon or something.
bump
boof1990 bump
I need to know to
Please i need the song too... did you find the name?
It's been years but I must know
I was always amused thinking about the abyss watchers linking the flame, they literally ganked their way to the first flame like complete casuls
The suffering of fire keepers

My favorite channel ever. Sorry I missed the battle weekend. It's okay I didn't win the stuff but I regret not having a chance to fight you. I'll keep watching. Please keep making videos. Hopefully Armored Core 6 has a compelling hidden story(ies).
Totally late to this video, but on topic, has anyone else noticed that the tree-like corpses reaching towards Lothric Castle in the beginning on the high wall look like the pilgrim butterflies?
I'm so desperate for info on FROMsoftware's new games! Miyazaki and his team excite me more than any other dev!
Superlosia agreed! I just hope the next ip will have the same kind of complex, and up to interpretation kind of story. Not necessarily the same kind of gameplay. But the way they present the story and how detailed yet vague it is, is something I would love to play through again.
fromsoft for gameplay. CDPR for rpg storytelling and good respectful business practices. The rest can go fuck themselves
Bloodborne racing.
I just wonder when will they announce the new ip. TGO maybe?
E3 2018. It won't come out until Q1-Q2 2019.
Vaati 😍
Harry Pooter what r u gay ?
Commie Doggo Wait, you mean this isn't a gay club ?
Hung Le idk is it a gay club
Is this not all just a big "Why doesn't Vaati love me" club. Have I been going at it all wrong this entire time?
Pontiff Sulyvahn i guess ?
Fun Fact: You can see the Fire Keeper's eyes if you put your camera as close to her mask as possible when you're behind her and slowly walk away.
In case you can't get this to work, her eyes are a silvery-grey colour.
I cant believe i missed this..got into ds3 and ds in general 4 months ago..please consider doing this again!!
I dont even play this game but the lore and ur voice is just so sooothing like holy hell.
I love all your videos but please if you have the time now that no more games of souls are coming out so soon, please return to the Prepare to Cry Bloodborne videos you promise us, we all want a Lady Maria, Ludwig, Laurence and whatever you feel worth it
yes please
goddamnit the dark souls lore seems so amazing but I can't experience it first hand because I'm too much of a noob :D

I love this format so much. Could watch it endlessly in repeat.
I think FromSoft owe Vatti vydia a lot because he made up most of their story and show how excellent it is
