The most comprehensive video on Ruger P series pistols. Thorough enough without ireelevant info. Congrats 👍 I own a trusty workhorse Ruger P85 and wouldn't change it for the world. I own(ed) pretty much everything when it comes to firearma but there is something about the Ruger P85 that makes me smile every time I hold it in my hands.
For a small channel, THIS IS THE GREATEST RUGER P SERIES VIDEO I HAVE EVER SEEN!!!!!!! Kudos to you brother, thank you for this blast from the past and thank you for having the models for us to see🤘🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 you definitely get a sub from me my friend, God bless you, I look forward to seeing more like this 🎉🙏🏼
I’m noticing that the P series pistol are starting to become popular with collectors these days. I think the main reason why is that many of us back in the mid 1980s to mid 1990s were starting off in life didn’t have a lot of money and often when we bought a new gun, we had to sell them to pay the bills or to upgrade to a different firearm. Now, that most of us are in our late 40s to our late 50s, we now can afford the “things” we always wanted or had. I remember seeing the Ruger P85 pistols in Army’s PX while stationed in Alaska in 1988 and they were selling them for $249. Wish I’d would have picked up one, but I didn’t since I spent all my “gun money” on a Beretta 92 FS since that was what the Army was transitioning to. I got out of the Army in 1992 after 12 years and went into law enforcement and was issued a Ruger P89DAO. A year later, in 1994, you could buy a “compact” P93DAO for off duty carry. In 1996, I transferred into a different agency and issued better weapons since they had a larger budget. ANYWAY!! I’m now retired and buying all the weapons I was issued in the Army and in Law Enforcement so I can pass them down to my kids. I was lucky and finally found a Ruger P89DAO and P93DAO last month. Glad to have them back in the collection since they remind of my younger days. For that time period, they were the average weight and size of the S&W 5906, Beretta 92 and Sig 226 pistols, but cheaper AND more important, better than any revolver in a street fight!
My favorite P gun is the 95dc. It was my first ever gun. I traded it for a Beretta and regretted it. Found another P95dc, broke on me. Sent it to Ruger, said it was beyond repair. Gave me another gun of my choice. I went with the SR40C. Still have it. The day before thanksgiving, 2019, found a P95, non DC. In stainless. Love it. Just three days ago, 12-10-2019, found a P345 for the right price, couldn’t pass it.
That's awesome Rafael! Solid guns in any configuration and still at great prices. Congrats on the budding P collection there. Watch out, they do breed!
TomD Gunnery thank you, just today I saw a P90 and a P89 I believe? Not sure, but they were used. They wanted too much and none of them came with magazines. Good news is that I came home from work to a small package. Two brand new P345 mags. Going to the range tomorrow.
Best underrated pistols ever. My 1st Duty pistol was a m9 in 1990, I couldn't afford a Beretta, so I bought a used Taurus PT92. My next venture was the Croatia Arms HS2000 for an excellent price of $189 in 1997, In '98 bought a Para-Ordnance P14-45 custom tuned with Ed Brown, Wilson and Chip McCormick parts. My next duty gun was a Kp95 DAO in San Diego, I switched Depts and swapped for a Heckler and Koch P2000 and 3 years ago switched to the Glock G19 gen5 mos. In between I snagged a P97, a Used P90 and a Taurus PT1911. Like a dummy. I SOLD all my Taurus, Croatia-Springfield and Para and all my Rugers. God I miss them. Never, ever jammed.
I love them all but I didn't know about some the odd ones I have a 89 90 345 the 99 came with wrap around grips and the Ruger box with spot for 3 mags great shooting guns the 95 I carry from time to time in the winter months
Had a duel tone p89 at the age of 15 in 1992. My very first semi auto handgun. I loved that thing. Think I'll try and find another for the nostalgia lol.
And relatively inexpensive nostalgia at that! I couldn't stop and had to try them all. The shooter grade ones are fantastic and then you aren't worried about taking them out any time. Fun stuff!
@@tomdgunnery8360 I just love the looks of them it's always stuck with me. I will be adding one to the stable soon hopefully and your right there not to crazily priced even for today's standards. Take care and thanks for the reply back kind sir.
Ruger p series pistols are great I have owned many of them working mans pistol that will take care of business fun to shoot and reliable as any other pistol out there and you don't have to worry about dropping it are if it gets a scratch on it my p95 I have now is the one pistol I can count on.
Great Collection. August 2020 I found new P91 in box at local Gunshop@Virginia..Ready hold your chair $ 260 out the door. Manager had no idea what he had.
Now that’s incredible! Almost would make you feel guilty, almost. 😀. It’s what keeps us watching the gun shops and even GunBroker. Getting hard to snag a deal on line but occasionally that happens too. Congrats!
@@tomdgunnery8360 Thank you and i found a P-91 Slide barrel and complete parts from GB.for $88.00 bought it. Of course I only stare at my Mint P91, but is the P-89 Lower compatible with P91 parts? Kind of like glock 17 and glock 22 lower are the same. Called ruger they wiil not revive my complete p91 parts. Anyways if p89 lower is compatible I will buy one, and use my P91 parts to reconstruct a 2nd Range shooter. Thanks again let me know if you know anything, about p89 and p91 frames they look identical. By the way Tom there is a P91 and a P91 DAO on sale in GB heads up, looking out for your collection. GB Item 902010800. from some big dealer. Ends June 21st at 9pm ish. Already got one building a reverse of your collection.
Thanks for the heads up. I do have that one on watch. That seller (Sarah15) is funny, everything he/she sells is “rare or ultra rare”. It does look very nice and complete. Hopefully the price is right at closing. I’m not sure about compatibility on a p89/P91. Ruger did not seem to buy the Glock idea where things are so compatible. If I land a P91, I’ll have to give it a try. Thanks!
@@sayitlikeitis3596 you can swap frames between p89s and p91s I've done it before you just need to make sure the ejectors are the same ruger used 2 different styles of ejectors its easy to find the ejectors and swap them to fit a different p89 slide or p91 slide
Awesome. I need to get back to the desk and make more videos. I'm thinking of an unboxing one comparing the newest Ruger Mark IV 10" vs the older Mark II 10". And then there's the whole Ruger Mark series history to do... and the disassembly videos to do on the P Series other than the P89 I did... oh boy. Retirement is still too far away to get much done yet. Glad you enjoyed it!
I just picked up a p345 also for $430 cheapest I could find for some reason there usually $500 and up even though there not even that old yet last being made in 2013
Thanks Sid. I’ve got to get the equipment back out and find the time for more videos. Something therapeutic about it once I get started. The P93 is on my mind to tear down, just not sure if there are enough differences from my P89 video. Hmmm... you got me thinking about it now. Thanks for watching!
TomD. Hello. I saw your video on Ruger P Series pistols. Loved it. I noticed the rack/ shelf you were storing the pistols in for the video. What storage system is that as I am in a position to need something similar. Thank you for your videos I find them very informative.
Thanks Marcus! The rack is Hyskore brand that I bought through Amazon. In the video I have two 6 gun racks sitting side by side. They are $20 each right now. Six of the wider slide P series are a little tight at the muzzle but I just trimmed out one piece where it was double foamed and the whole rack loosened up perfectly.
Thanks for sharing, very informative!... I bought a P89 and apparently they made a mistake and got me a P93DC, (I haven't pick it up yet, I'm researching it) which I believe is more hard to find, and you mention in your video that the P93 is your favorite of all P-series, I wonder why specifically? Thank you again!
Hi Carlos! That's a good trade! To me the P93 just feels better in the hand. It's a little more compact and streamlined. Just feels like an incredible pre-plastic pistol. It's still not a lightweight at 31 ozs but could be carried quite easily. Yes, they are harder to find. Not sure the quantity made of each but I'm sure the P93 must have had fewer made as I just don't see them very often. Enjoy it!
I have a p85, I like it. Heavy, but doesn’t kick too bad. I like the grip panels because you can change super easy, which I did. I’m assuming you like Ruger? Me too. Your a little sarcastic, but you seem to have ALL the guns and magazines.
Had Ruger made a P345 version in a double stack 9mm and .40 it would have sold well among those preferring hammer fired pistols over striker fired systems.
@@tomdgunnery8360 I've got a P345 in preference to a P97, and passed on P95 but would have got a more ergonomic grip hammer fired version, like an SR9, ( which I did acquire. )
Do you notice they always use the word polymer. When it’s plastic. It makes it sound less sheep when you call it polymer. If you say the guns made out of plastic it sounds more like a toy. Personally I’m not a fan of guns that don’t have an external hammer on them.
Ruger P Series Ruger should have kept up with, P`s are tanks, for the money very similar to Glock Durability...As far as my favorite 80s gun I am a Bren10 fan.

The Ruger P-series is one of my favorite pistols of all time. Same with Glocks. Beast handguns.
Blocks are not in the same league with the P series Rugers. Overpriced, overrated and cheaply made.
I'm impressed he has all the magazines to go with the guns and their respective years.
