who would know where the vcds hooks up and where i can find that sort of a program, at the dealer? becouse local shops dont want anything to do with diesels. great vid, thank you guys for taking the time to show us.
Hee I am doing this now on my audi. Great video. Short question: what was the height of the seal for the quantity adjuster?.The old ones where 2.9mm I had two different sets one was 3,5 and the other was 3,8 mm??? In the end what are you changing with the VATCOm Engine rpm or ?? LEt me know. I am Happy you made the video. Well done. This saved me 1200 euro. In europe they do not allow to change seal they just sell a complete overhauled pump. Raoul
Question Guys. I replaced my main seal last night, I was leaking pretty bad. I used the vitron seal. Everything went as smoothly as to be expected,. Went very slow and carefully, no leaks! now During install I removed only the top portion of the rest of the pump in an attempt to get a better grip on the Solenoid. I replaced that seal while I was in there even though its was not leaking. Took me a little extra to prime the pump , but I got it running. Idles like a champ at 900. When I drive it though, it smogs pretty bad. I can feel some surging as well. When I eventually went into limp mode (Unrelated, its been doing that for awhile) the smoking/surging went away. If you don't replace the bottom seal, do you still need to vagcom the system to dial everything back in?
Hey guys this video series is fantastic. Backing out the pump and putting torque on the shim look like the only critical issues to watch for. This last step though. I do not have the equipment to do this final adjustment. can the car be driven a short distance to a place that can run this final adjustment. I can tell by the sound approx what it should be at. What is the name of this program on the laptop you are using to make this final adjustment? I can't quite hear the name ViCom? What is the number measuring mm of hg vacuum or pressure where did you connect the lap top? Thanks excellent video.
drat...... followed everything up to this point beside VACOM adjust... FAIL..... still leaking like a sieve. Not from head on the side.. but from everywhere else it seems.
Guys i didnt mark it and place it all way to front of injertor ports thinking it would help economy. Once it started the engine it ran to its maximun rpm until cutting air hose, the engine did not got damaged by luck. Im really confident i placed the internal junction appropiately. Should i hammer it back to its opposite end ? Or to place it to the midle which is what it looks it was ? Should I open the pump again to check the junction ? Please help dudes, thanks
Despite the lack of a proper torque wrench...well done and seemingly very thorough series. Kudos.
The torque specs for the pump are not published by Bosch so a torque wrench is not useful
A valid point. Would suggest checking a fastener torque chart online...an idea is always better than guessing. ;)
all 3 of my seals where leaking and now its like a brand new pump again, you guys are the best thank you very much

Raoul
amazing that it affects the numbers
Thanks for this very good film now I can repair my car with the same problem.
Good bless you,
Bye
The vag lite. The free version will be able to tell me the pump information ?
Will vcds-lite work or is the fully registered version able to display mg/stroke?
You fixed the value at 2.4 or 3.4 to adjust with the vcds
I repare my car with the same problem thank you
Can you check the injection quantity using VCDS Lite? Or do you have to have the full registered version?

VAGCOM is the software you need. You can buy cables and software setups on Amazon in the UK. Not sure about where you are.
Would vcds lite work foe this application?? Thx
What if my pump still leaks fuel after replacing these seals ?
You guys awesome )
What about people like me i have a laptop but how do i get that program
Use your laptop and search for "Vag Com" , "VCDS" and "Ross-Tech". ;)
great jobbbb
drat...... followed everything up to this point beside VACOM adjust... FAIL..... still leaking like a sieve. Not from head on the side.. but from everywhere else it seems.
can i wing it without the vcds?
Can you?
Could you?
Helllp! After i reprimed and closed everything up it won't start anymore :(
That's because you're dumb

like the guys said if you miss the centre and the engine over runs you have missed the center open and re align
You should see carbon mark stains from old adjustment. Just look carefully, you'll probably be able to see where qa used to set
