Fluer Fantasía has a purple, Huetopian Dream has purple, there’s a purple blue shift shade in subliminal, that’s a purple in moonlit seduction, and there’s a purple in Risqué Rose
Midnight Sun had the first purple shade and a beautiful vibrant purple. There are quite a few purples in her collection but I feel there's plenty room for more , like cool toned purples
In the quad passion fleur as well (a beautiful cooltoned purple that goes really well with the other shades in the quad)
I think in the Celeatial Nirvana Mothership, there's 3 whole purples... the better looking quad seems to be similar to Huda's Mercury retrograde as well
Also the Star Wars palettes and then the holiday palette in which those were repeated had purple. Also that little six pan in the plastic packaging she came out with a few years ago.

Glad I was around for the OG formulas and packaging. I agree most of the appeal was in the packaging because I can get sparkly shadows with interesting color stories in cardboard from Indie brands for less money.
I feel like PML are just taking us for a ride, honestly. At least when I buy indie, it makes me feel like I'm supporting a real human being and I know they're trying their best to bring something special. The staff at PML must think we are all stupid.
No actually think they care about profit margins… I think there is nothing personal about it, which is probably why it feels so frustrating and insulting.
I completely agree with your assessment, it’s really a shame that her brand has declined like this. I’ve been far more into indie eye shadow brands the last 1-2 years, and I find their shimmers in particular far surpass any of the more mainstream. Plus I feel better about supporting small businesses ❤
The first purple I have from PML is in the Blitz Astral Quad (Blitz Purple). It also has Blitz Aquamarine.

I don't care about packaging as long as costs go down. I care about formulas and that they are accessible and not repeated.
I think it's interesting that they are deleting and blocking any negative comments about this collection over on IG. So they know that their fan base is extremely unhappy and they just don't care

i haven’t bought any PMG in what feels like forever. it’s so odd to me someone who is known for her boundary pushing artistry as a MUA now is the face of a brand that has become cheap & totally unoriginal. and the feedback has been this way for YEARS now and she clearly doesn’t care. it’s obvious her brand is entirely managed by others and she just makes her coin and no longer involved in R&D. super uninspiring and i hope one day the direction of the company changes

I was thinking that too. And there are 3 purples (plus a pink that looks like the one in the upcoming quad) in the subversive la vie en rose 6 pan palette that came out quite a few years ago.
Aren’t there purple shades in some of her Celestial holiday palettes? I remember the first Celestial palette I bought had a purple in it.

I agree too! I don’t mind paying for great quality - I like that her formulas do the work for me, but it’d take me a lifetime to go through every pan of Pat’s quads & motherships. I don’t need repeat colors especially for the price tag.
Patty i feel exactly the same, I'm not paying full price for cardboard packing. How can they justify charging that price when it's the same for luxurious packaging. It's great to see the quad that's abit different but I'll wait for a sale. If we get a mothership in cardboard packaging, then I'm seriously done, and if i see golds and pinks, I'm done. I wasn't happy with the last mothership, so this is her last chance with me 😂

In the original quads there was a purple in nocturnal nirvana (I think that was the name) and then in the first mega mothership
Mother Pat has actually created several eyeshadows with different shades of mauve, but none are very similar to the ones in this quad, which is why I'm most likely going to get it.
To name a few:
Mothership 1 : Lilac Dusk | Mothership 3 : Night Creature | Mothership 6 : Blitz Violet Orchid | Mothership 9 : Astral Amethyst Moon | Mothership 10 : Plum Cabaret (matte) | Mothership 11 : Astral Amethyst Allure.

I'm a long time pat collector so I can confirm that they have had many purples in the past which people got sick of. I agree 100% that the brand has lost its magic. I think she sold out to investors and others who bought the company in parts. I'm not even holding my breath for a mothership palette this year, I think many are going to be disappointed as I think this is her launch!! Until Christmas
As of right now, it is 6:35 pm on July 25th in the big and beautiful state of TEXAS. And the Pat McGrath team has *three* videos on TikTok showcasing OPALESCENT ORCHID and *zero* videos using NIRVANA NECTAR. I feel like that speaks for itself when it comes to the repetitive shades that are in the NIRVANA NECTAR quad.
I don't mind them reusing shades if they are transparent about it so will be interesting to see if this is flagged on the listing
I am frankly done with Pat. She's just another brand as far as I'm concerned now there's nothing special anymore.

I agree completely. I would be more open to the cardboard if there was a discount but at this price, absolutely not! I’m also concerned about the formula. in my experience, the quads are in the mothership formula which is different from the holiday formula. I’m really curious to see if these shades are all in the cheaper Holiday formula and if so, I’m more concerned for the mothership! it’s certainly not unusable but I don’t like the typical cardboard packaging or Holiday formula to ever buy more of it than what I already have!
Patty, I think you overlooked the 2018 6 pan minis that correspond to the 1st 3 Mothership palettes including one that was dominated with purple shades. It was the sister mini to her Mothership Subversive III called Subversive MTHRSHP La Vie En Rose. It included 3 stunning purple shades: Purple Reign (a gorgeous true purple satin), Paranormal (purple plum matte) and Euphoria (purple metallic with a slight lavender hue). The palette also included Pale Fire (a pretty rose gold pink shimmer), Rose Risqué (a hot pink matte) and Gold Nectar (a super shiny foil yellow gold). Love this palette and so much fun to pair it with the bigger Mothership Subversive (which to me houses the OG purple family shade, Night Creature, one of my faves by PMG)! Plus there were multiple purples in the 2 Star Wars 6 pans and the holiday Celestial Divinity palette that housed the shades from those 2 Star Wars palettes. She also had purple shades in her holiday MTHRSHP palettes with the exception of the Celestial Odyssey holiday palette. Perhaps you forgot about these palettes but just wanted to let you know that she has given us lots of purple shades dating back at least 6 years. Love your content and don’t worry - Mothership XII will be in the luxury black lacquer packaging!

We have beautiful purples in Nocturnal Nirvana Quad, the La Vie En Rose 6 pan and the first Star Wars 6 pan palettes just to name a few. But I too am disappointed about the path we're on when it comes to Mother Pat launches. I think the reason for doing cardboard packaging is to keep the price down. We can also see that the plastic packaging on the actual Motherships have changed, and are now more like 1 big piece where the plastic looks lifted around the pans.
I'm hoping for the best for this years Mothership, but fearing the worst. But when thinking about the looks for Maison M, we COULD be up for a real treat 🤞🏼 (I got the Opalescent Orchid btw with Bloom10 code)
That holiday eye and cheek palette sold out before I could get one so I’m happy to have a chance to get the shades in quads. Plus a lot of people complained about having blush and shadows in one palette and Im one who prefers them separate too.
I have never purchased any PM products because I see them all the time at TJMAX.

Well. I wish I’d seen this video sooner as I just ordered. Thank goodness the bronze palette was out of stock. I only ordered the colorful palette so I’m good. As for those cream blushes they’re not brand new; I already have them (and love them).

The og blushes were the last Pat release that actually had me excited.
Many of Pat's earliest palettes were in cardboard packaging. They were the six-pan ones, but still.
Pat also had 2 purple/ish shades in the midnight voyage mini palette

I own one PM pallet. It’s one of Mothership pallets; Huetopian Dream. I got it during one of the sales. I don’t have any of her quads. I do have the Holiday Blush pallet from 2 years ago. I got that in an Ipsy/ Boxy Charm. I love her lipsticks. I have 4 of her full size lipsticks and I recently bought one of the mini sets at Sephora. The Nude Venus set with the gloss, lip pencil and mini lipstick. I like the color on me. I plan on getting the full size of the lipstick once that mini is used up.
I want Pat to do MORE BLITZ SHADOWS ( ONES YOU HAVEN’T RELEASED )!

Is it weird that even though I have literally every palette and Quad Pat had released that I still want both of these quads? Yes. Am I going to buy them both anyways? Also yes. 😅😂 Pat is one of the very few remaining brands I collect the palettes from. I know I have a lot of repeats/similar shades, but I just can't help myself. I get why some people wouldn't want too.
ETA - I wish the newer quads were not cardboard, but the packaging is still pretty. And I keep all my Pats in their boxes, so as long as the packaging is still pretty I'll buy them. At least they are $56 and not $65. But yes, if the 10 pans showed up in cardboard I may rethink my collecting habits LOL!

If you want a special pastel matte and shimmer collection, Ensley Reign Lands of Enchantment is a better option I'd say.
I found the Christmas release from last year last week at TJ Maxx for $20. I bought it and brought it home and the more I stared at it the more I thought I won't use this and I brought it back so there's no way that I would go out and spend that kind of money for a quad especially not in cardboard packaging!
I ordered the Orchard quad, I needed a small palette with shades such as those, so it's a good buy! And I'm not concerned with the cardboard packaging, I like to travel with my "today's" eye look, and I never felt comfortable with the old packaging, besides I don't like the wannabe boogie look.
9:40 that screenshot looks like it could almost pass for the Natasha Denona Mini Pastel Palette, except the finishes are different.
The Dark Galaxy from the Star Wars collection has purples.
I totally agree! This collection is a hard pass for me. I must say the quads I have repurchased are Voyeuristic Vixen and Venusian Sunrise, totally worth the price 🙌🏻🔝🖤

Just on the purples- she’s been actually not to bad with them if you go way back: midnight (mothership 6), 2 of the star wars palettes which she rereleased in the large palette which I believe had another purple somewhere, there’s been a pink purple original mothership run and then there was this really lovely pastel purple in what I call Easter colours in a quad form as well as a deep purple in her og blitz quads!!
The moment I depotted my MTHRSHP pallette I was like oh ' I'm paying for packaging ' lol 😅

I'm right there with you. The fact that they changed the packaging and the cost is the same! ugh. I loved her because of the whole experience- the packaging, the new shades, etc. Having new colors is part of moving forward- i'm so disappointed in this brand now.

Patty, you're absolutely right about everything you said. I own every single Pat McGrath Mothership palette, every quad, and every blush. I used to be so addicted to her products and eagerly awaited each summer for her new Mothership releases. However, I skipped the last two palettes because their color stories were too similar to previous ones. I also haven't bought the last two Christmas releases and haven't purchased anything from Pat McGrath in the past two years. I'm really disappointed.
Looks like the 80’s makeup is back lots of dark blush and very vibrant color eyeshadow. 😊

I'm upset with this habit they took to reuse the hell out of their existing shades. Not to mention the cardboard packaging, that they charge for almost the same price as they charge a more luxurious packaging. I haven't checked the weight of the shadows but that could be interesting to see.

Her investors seem to be calling more of the shots now. But it’s still a privately owned company. But they seem to have more of the pie so to speak like a public company in calling more of the shots. So it seems they decided to do more cheap, appeal to a wider audience and still charge almost the same luxury prices. Hoping nobody will notice (the wider audience that they can “hoodwink” so to speak). They’re killing it in profits now. But to our expense, to our experience and to coveted luxury products. 😢 Mind you I did pick up the Opalescent quad. For far too much Canadian dwallars than it’s worth even with BLOOM10. I know, call me a hypocrite, call me conflicted. 😂🤣😂

I own 5 PML palettes. One mothership, one holiday, one quad (not in cardboard), one love collection, and one bijoux palette. That’s quite enough for me.
I was a huge Pat fan for years. Bought many quads and a few holiday palettes. I also bought Motherships 1-10. When she stopped including baked shades in those, I began to feel disappointed and less excited about them, and the brand as a whole. (Not to mention too much pink and gold! 😫) So I didn’t even want Sunlit Seduction. It just looked SOO similar to the last few Motherships, and that one (red) special shade was awful, according to those I saw reviewing it. I treasure the OG products that I already own, and her blushes, foundation, and concealer are very nice. But the brand no longer excites me, and it would take something very special to make me want to buy anything, even at a discount. ☹☹☹

I was surprised that I didn’t get a text from Pat McGrath for this launch. I think the last palette I purchased from her was the holiday palette in the lighter colors. The pastel palette is stunning, but I don’t think I would get much wear out of it. The Nirvana palette would be more wearable for me, but I probably wouldn’t use the gold shade much. I didn’t realize that three out of four of them were repeat shades, although I didn’t purchase the deeper holiday palette. But like you said, I probably already have those shades in other palettes. It’s a shame that she has raised her prices while lowering the quality of the packaging, but unfortunately, the tremendous inflation we’ve experienced over the past few years has probably made it necessary. Every cosmetic brand has been raising prices out of sight. Her expansion into Ulta has been to expand into a broader, lower price market, and rising costs on everything hasn’t helped any of us. I certainly hope she keeps the same quality on her next mothership though. Only time will tell. Btw, your eyes look amazing!

I agree w u Patty abt the fading magic of PML bc I also noticed since 8 to 10 mths ago, their presentation of new formulas, color stories, collection themes are non existent anymore and bundles are so tacky. I only see bundles sales everywhere on their site it puts me off. E luxuriousness is 80% gone if u ask me. Not only nothing new month on month but many are bundles sold like closing down sales vibe. N I don't even bother to remind myself to go into their website to shop anymore for a year now. Bc genuinely everything I love abt PML same w u Patty has left the building. Same I just bought the Orchid quad alone as I hv the other quad already.
What about Nocturnal Nirvana? They look similar
The dark one was actually the holiday release that sold out. The light one is still available in some places, even now. She also has a lot of purples, Mothership III, the original Starwars six-pans, Mothership 6. She also had a purple single. In Mothership 9 there is a purple astral and the deep royal purple in the Quad Nocturnal Nirvana and a pastel in Fleur Fantasia. I think there was also a purple added to the star wars colour stories in the first 18 pan release (I will have to check that though). There may be more, but that's what I can think of off the top of my head.
I do still agree with all of your conclusions though. I won't pick up either of these quads and I am so disappointed.
This is all making sense to me now. I watched so many videos hyping up PML over the years, but I could never afford it. (Or I could never let myself pay that much foe eyeshadow I should say). A couple years ago, I logged on her website during a holiday sale where if you spend over $200, you got 35% off. (I believe that's what the sale was). I bought Moonlit Seduction, and a few other complexion products. I ended up liking the complexion products more which was really shocking. I found the mattes to stick down and not blend well. I'm not a professional, but I'm pretty skilled and use BK Beauty brushes like most everyone else. The glitters or special shades flaked and would nor stay even with her primer or nyx glitter glue. I feel like she is just relaunching old formulas and old products! That's why people are complaining about how bad the quality is now. That's awful to do to your loyal supporters!!
If you still have those palettes definitely try blending the mattes with natural hair brushes such as REPHR or Sonia G. In my experience they don't blend well with synthetic brushes.
@@PattyAlonso I have yet to try REPHR, but I will keep that in mind. I can make them work, but it takes a lot of effort.

I am tempted to this quad. But honestly, I agree with you and makes me angry that lately no PML releases excite me. Maybe if it gets to EU retailers (normally they do after few weeks), I'll get it with discount. But I prefer to wait for the Mothership

Not for me i'm afraid, that company seems very money grabby which is cheeky seeing as new innovations are lacking. I have 3 motherships dont get me wrong, but you are right its no longer luxury quality but still charging luxury prices

I lost all respect for PM when her pallets I bought for $$$$$$$ were selling at Marshals. Now, in my eyes, it’s not luxury. Which is a shame because when I bought a pat McGrath pallet, it was for the luxury experience.
I was a PM stan, like you I purchased everything. I skipped the last two years of releases, apart from the motherships. I am skipping this also😢. Not the same since she has investors.
