The worst outbreak I’ve ever seen

I’m always flabbergasted by news reporters that think they need to descriptively narrate what’s blatantly apparent on the screen. “Can you see the car that has been impaled by debris that was flying,sometimes feet in the air”????? Really? Debris fly’s in the air during a tornado???
What happens to the gas and water lines when a home is leveled like that? Does natural gas just leak out or is there some kind of shutoff mechanism?
I just watched a press release from the Police and fire Dept of Omaha, they are having to identify gas and water leaks, as well as obvious power outages. They are getting emergency crews to shut off utilities
This is my biggest worry being trapped in the basement with broken gas lines water.

FYI, Nobody packs up their family and leaves their home when we see a tornado coming.
Most every home here has a basement that we go to when we hear the tornado siren going off.
Those basements are why there were no deaths here during that F5 tornado and the other 70 tornados that hit here 2 days ago.
Mobile homes have a nearby shelter where there seek cover.
I’m surprised the reporter talked about people getting in their cars and driving away from the storm. That’s one thing growing up in Nebraska we were told not to do! We were suppose to seek shelter, which for most people meant the basement. Did these homes not have basements, or is this a change due to the more advanced warning?
You're right, you can't outrun a tornado. The timing was such that people were at their workplaces and the kids were in school. Most weren't home until later, after the storm had passed.
My mom was at her patient’s house in Blair that had no basement and I’m so thankful the tornado missed them 🙏🏼
I don't think this woman knows what she's talking about. I guarantee you families did not flee their homes after hearing a warning. This isn't a hurricane. If families evacuated their homes, it was after the damage had already been done. It really bothers me that she said that.
@@christagudmundson6682 yeah she doesn’t know, no one in their right mind would flee their home during a tornado, the comment above said it right - it happened while most people were at work and school

There was at least one E5 from this outbreak but I wouldn't be surprised it gets dowplayed to an EF4 or EF3.
Harlan for sure was. Some of that footage was insane. People had to check it wasnt speeded up.
The NWS idiots have all but stopped rating any tornadoes as EF-5. Rolling Fork and Mayfield come to mind. No idea why they refuse to do so, but that whole antiquated rating system needs to be abolished.
Why would they downplay the rating ? Just asking here.
@@teenageapocalypseusa5368 doppler on wheels had in bound and out bound winds of 120 m/s ~ 268 mph on that tornado, however it most likely will receive ef 3-4 rating

4 mile wide, possibly an E4 or 5 tornado, so ya, the damage is not just on that street!
Elkorn is devasted. An animal shelter has been damaged and many many homes.

these kinds of weather events are life changing I still suffer ptsd from a 2016 storm , every time we go under a severe weather warning , also with climate change driving a longer duration severe storm spring season , and with soaring building materials costs and builders focusing on sq footage and profit these structures don't stand a chance

W H Y do people continue to build and live in those very destructive areas? Every single year there is severe destruction in those areas and of course, property insurance is going to continue to go up... up... up. Why don't they just grow crops there? Looks like the same bombing damage seen in Ukraine and Gaza....
