She was ironically the safest human in any ocean at that moment. No shark was getting anywhere close to her.
Sharks are barely any more dangerous to humans than Orcas. If they mistake you for prey, otherwise not. If you swim down to a great white for instance it will never hurt you. Only if you flail on the surface while vaguely shaped like a seal.
@@politicallycorrectredskin796 Some sharks will prey on humans.
@@@sevenrats Not really. They will sometimes bite humans to find out what they are. If you get stressed and afraid it will excite them and increase the chance of them confusing you with prey. Stay calm and they are like tame dogs.
@@politicallycorrectredskin796 If sharks kills by mistake or not doesn't change anything to the level of safety. There are also no cases of (wild!) orcas killing humans. It's not even close to "barely", it's a lot more dangerous to swim with sharks.
@@@SocietyUnplugged It's really not. Most people are just idiots.
"Orcas have never attacked humans in the wild," only in captivity. Gee, I wonder why!
Because they are very intelligent and social. They go insane when in captivity. None of that matters, though, as long as the tricks they do are cool!
That being said they shouldn’t even be messed with in the wild. Apex predators that are very unpredictable
YA NO KIDDIN. 😎👍
@Down the She never nearly got mauled. If they wanted to maul her they could have easily done so.
They harmed her the exact amount they wanted to. Which was not at all.

“Actually I’m quite jealous” lol same
I once worked underwater cutting away some steel when I got the fright of my life when I saw the head of a shark peering over my shoulder to see what I was doing. Seeing my reaction he moved off quick. But he kept hanging around and I didnt get out as the shark was only about 2m long.
It was still unnerving to know he was around because as soon as I thought he was gone and could relax and start working, he would inevitably appear and inspect the work again - see the progress made I guess.
Eventually I got fed up and when he was close enough and gliding past, I grab hold of the thin part just before his tailfin and squeezed. Man, they are fast and with a flick of the tail he was gone. But that was short lived, he practically bugged me afterwards like a clingey girlfriend...
Once out of the water the other divers said to never touch them, they become super inquisitive.
So I wont be jealous anytime soon. If they are really that close to you, its a different story altogether... an orca and I would be walking on the water...
I feel that 100%.
that part was hilarious, how they quicly cut in and out of her saying that, looked like a comedy skit haha
That was so funny 😂
Judy sounds like a super cool lady. Maybe the orcas sensed her cool lady vibes. 😃💜
My sentiment exactly! Orcas are so intelligent, and such a great personality, they knew she wasnt a seal! Just to be sure he took a little nibble on her toes... no not a seal! Lol. They also are so intuitive, yes they knew she was a very cool, good person. You are right on!
Yes wish I had a mum lile her.
X D
They are very empathetic also… I do believe they could feel she is no threat and she did not panic. Amazing experience 😍
@@martinam7806 right. I just found that a large portion of their brains are devoted to empathy. perhaps THAT is why they do not kill like kind. what gets me though is that these animals have tremendous bite force and they're the top apex predator. you would not know that watching them here, huh?
This woman has nerves of steel!
ad mobile4 I was going to say she had balls of steel, but yea let’s go with nerves lol
I know I'd have probably warmed up my wetsuit, if you know what I mean.
Actually nope, hundreds of thousands of people swim with orcas each year, i have done it twice. I have been diving with sharks, well thats scary, but orcas, there is nothing to be afraid of.
Its not nerves of steel to swim with orcas, is cowardice of chicken to not swim with them.

If an orca nibbled she wouldn’t have feet anymore lol

Yeah... And a Nasty Bite that can kill a Great White Shark 😉
M. Rodrigo Lemus orca is not the only dolphin that can kill whales, and sharks. Most of them can do it . Yet you are heavily mistaken if you believe one single orca could take down a Great white shark friend

Beautiful, orcas do not attack in the wild because they haven’t suffered from psychosis enducing SeaWorld. What a wonderful story and experience for her!!
Apparently they’ve been attacking boats in (i think) Spain.. something/s has obviously happened that was traumatic for the local orcas with boats.. i’d be worried that they’ll attack the humans too for the same reason/grudge. Other than that, yes its unheard of for orcas to attack. They just know we are their cousins and family is everything 😊

But these orcas eat sting ray and tooth fish. So sharks wouldn't be afraid of them in this part of the ocean.
@@bari2883 Mate you are so wrong. Every shark shits itself when Orcas are around. Even Great Whites!
@@Goatboysminion ok. Was thinking that if sharks in that area had never experienced orcas as a predator wouldn't necessarily be afraid of them. But sharks would be wary anyway. Cheers for the info.
"Wait a minute: They eat seals, and I am wearing a dark suit !!" 😂
Hahaha. That's the biggest misconception people have. They don't know different Orca ecotypes have particular prey they hunt.
@Smack must have missed my "Hahaha".
They're too smart. They can recognize dark skin seal from swimmer wearing a dark wet suit...
The orca around the Coromandel Peninsula go for fish, about the size of leg, and are effectively "big dolphins". CUrious, but not interested in humans.
Orca are smarter than that hehe but yeah a big thing eating a smaller thing is usually the order of things hahah
How lucky! You can see by the largest Orca's body movement she is enjoying being with Judy. Amazing. A point in space and time to connect. Neither will ever forget it.
Yes they roll over in a submissive position and show their white bellies like dogs when being friendly! They are so smart! Makes me wonder if they sensed she was lonely because her swim pals didn’t come!

A very very special animal indeed
To look in the eyes of a huge Orca whale like that, to be that close,I would have fainted. This woman is truly Amazing and full of bravery and strength. I can swim but never swam in an ocean before ....

Wow. An experience of a lifetime. Judie seems like a really good person.
Fabulous! What a beautiful moment! Cherish it forever! 🥰
If you see most documentary about orca hunting, you will see how gentle these orcas are. Good people met good orcas.
All Orca ecotypes have different hunting techniques. Some charge the shoreline. Some carousel herring. Some rush a floating piece of ice. All are gentle giants to humans. In the wild anyway.
Arun
People often make the misconception that Orcas and humans have some sort of mystical connection where an Orca would never harm a human due to the fact that there have been no fatal attacks recorded in the wild. This is actually a very dangerous way to perceive Orca. Orcas actually branch off into habitual pods and nomadic pods. The nomadic pods are known for eating large mammals, sharks and seal and they are particularly fond of liver. While the habitual pods are more likely to feed on fish exclusively. The reason why Orca are not known for attacking or eating humans is because they are one of the few species on earth that are taught how to hunt by their families. Their hunting is learned behavior that is passed down generationally.
Generally they are not around humans and are not swimming with humans on a regular basis. They also don't have some sort of sonar or special way to detect your internal makeup like sharks do for example, rather they have excellent underwater vision and use their eyes to spot prey in combination with their camouflaged skin that makes harder to spot at night. It isn't that they wouldn't attack a human or won't eat a human, it's that they have not learned to hunt them. It is wise to not think swimming with Orca is a good idea. Life is not a disney movie and these wonderful animals are the apex predators of the entire ocean and should be respected as such. The don't have any magical connection with humans and all it will take is the wrong place at the wrong time in combination with a bunch of curious Orca that want to experiment for a tragic accident to occur.
Those orcas pimp slap seals till it’s skin falls off
@@mucsalto8377 , They actually do have sonar and can tell your inner makeup. They can tell if you're male or female, and even if a woman is pregnant. Their brains are incredible . Watch " Blackfish " , it's very interesting and you will mearn a good bit about Orcas.
Sharks do not have sonar. To echolocate they need to be able to send a sound out to reflect back off of an object , sharks can't do this.
So jealous. watched it over and over. amazing. Judy, you know how incredibly fortunate you are for having had this. May you win the lotto already
Orcas in the wild have never harmed a human. They are very intelligent, and were enjoying swimming with her. I envy her the experience. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Orcas are wild animals. And like all wild animals they are dangerous. Leave them alone, they are NOT tame pets.
Bitch that's a whole new sentence. Nobody said anything about them being pets 😂
@@Tugela60 We are just as wild to them as they are to us, in fact we enslave them whenever we feel like it.
Learning what they are saying to each other and communicating them is a big deal and something that's currently in the works. They are NOT pets nor are they "wild animals." They are conscious and understand much more about the world than we think they do.
In captivity the Orcas attack their handlers because of stress, but in the wild they don't have that stress. She was perfectly safe, and she was safe from Great White Sharks too! No white Shark is going to come 100 miles of her with those Orcas around that's for sure! What a magnificent creature, and so intelligent and powerful!
I’ve watched this so many times. Very joyous.
A very good and strong swimmer she is.
That woman is so blessed to have had that encounter with the Orca's. Never heard of a Orca attacking a human in the wild. Keep me locked up and I'm gonna attack somebody too first chance i get. No great white shark is gonna come near you with an Orca there, probably no shark will come near. LOL

She’s not part of some crew that was planning a dive with Orcas.
These things just peekaboo surprised her.
They must have realized she was special.
At that moment you are completely trusting your life that a wild animal could end you in half a second and she thought nobody was there so if it happened in her mind nobody would even know what happened to her.

She left the water once they arrived. Then she returned to the water.

It's a law to protect both humans, and Orcas. If Orcas swim towards you, it's fine. It's recommended that you get out of the water, although many don't. I know I wouldn't. If you see them swimming, you shouldn't get in the water with them. That interrupts their daily routine. It's to help protect the Orca.
Very wisely said.
Well obviously if they approach you that’s different but this warning is for those who after seeing this may wanna go out try and find wild orcas and approach them when they shouldn’t, there’s been no known attack of orcas on humans but that doesn’t mean we should go approaching them thinking you can just swim and have fun with them like this lady

The humans living rurally in the tropics, with a high fruit content diet taste particularly delicious, but usually need to be prepared with attention paid to the fact that there isn’t enough fat on them... using coconut oil in preparation helps with that, or just deep fry battered chunks and dip in Malaysian sweet chili sauce and serve with fruits and veggies (like you would buffalo wings with carrots and celery) for a tasty snack....
