Would recommend looking into what’s referred to as a clip guard. It can be software based and prevents a mic from peaking and distorting.

When denji said that his mom died from a heart issue that made her cough blood he's coughing blood too meaning he inherited his mom's heart condition so pochita becoming his heart literally saved denji from dying.

Anyway, I've avoided rereading the manga to make the anime feel fresher for me when I watch it, so I don't remember much about those details either.
I find it funny that in almost every person I've seen watch this episode they kinda play down what denji goes through and focus way more on pochita. Especially in the stabbing scene. It's always "Dang... they stabbed him... WAIT THEY GOT POCHITA TOO??" We just naturally see the cute thing and gravitate towards it.
It's because nobody gives a shit about what happens to a guy! If that's a girl they would be crying their eyes out.

I know this is old but denji is a lame as a character. Dude is just straight up boring. At least from the first season. Dudes only motivation is to touch boobs. How do you expect anyone, let alone three females to take that seriously and not like the cute character more? The other dude with the black hair is a way more interesting character.
It's shonen jump, but it definitely feels more like a seinen, and it's not because of the gore, it's because of the deeper and more instrospective reflections the story brings.
As far as shonen goes. This gets absurdly dark.
@@autisticusmaximus9562 And as a demographic, they have an average tone, so some "technically shonen" and "technically seinen" can be outside that average tone. They literally translate to "young men" and "young adults", so the fact that "Chainsaw Man seems more like a seinen" is a legitimate observation. It also makes conversation stale to point out "the demographic is decided by the magazine it's are printed on: if it's on Shonen Jump then it's shonen", of course it's TECHNICALLY that way, but since shonen, seinen, shoujo and so on are used as terms to somewhat describe the story (few people will say "this manga is action/thriller", but most will say "this manga is shonen"), then it's pretty useful to stop just saying "if the magazine has this word in the title the manga is of that genre", and rather start differentiating by tone.
The fact that being rigidly tied to the magazine's demographic is counteproductive is obvious when you start naming some big exceptions: AoT and Chainsaw are both technically shonen, yet they have less censorship (they are obviously within the limits of the magazine, but still, the average shonen doesn't even get close to fully utilising those limits), gore, adult themes (war, racial division, manipulation, grooming) and different answers to the same problems that most other shounen have (friendship/love doesn't solve everything, violence is sometimes effective/justified, the good side doesn't always win just because it's good, there's no real "good" or "bad" side etc). Meanwhile, 'Kaguya wants to be confessed to' is technically a seinen, but not only is it a perfectly normal love comedy, it also doesn't even start touching the limits of censorship in their own magazine (they even joke about it with 4th wall breaking), so it could be publishe on shonen magazines..meanwhile shonen magazines have ecchi love comedies where censored nipples get uncensored in volume releases and where the authors hide vaginas in eye reflections even tho they shouldn't draw them due to publisher limitations.
Of course, I'm not saying "wow this manga is so mature, it's not a shonen!" and "seinen are better because they are for big men and not for children" or "tits and pussies are cool, romance is for children". What I'm saying is that using shonen, seinen etc to differentiate genres instead or rigidly using them based on magazine is useful: it's undeniable that most battle shonen (which, in turn, are what most people think when you just say the word shonen) are like Dragonball, Naruto, Black Clover etc, while action/thriller seinen have a naturally darker tone (regardless of publication) like AoT, Death Note etc. Even if Chainsaw (or its twins Jujutsu Kaisen and Jigokuraku) aren't seinen, I'd forgive anyone that calls them that or that tries to differentiate them by calling them "dark shonen", because it's undeniable that they aren't the same exact genre OR DEMOGRAPHIC of My Hero Academia (even if the demographic of THE MAGAZINE is the same because they both are on Jump, the age brakets of their audiences differ). In fact, since Chainsaw is now on Jump+ (online, not children-aimed demographic and even less censorship), it's a pretty strong proof that you can indeed chose the definition regardless of what magazine they start on...

I think that’s the direction a lot of new gen shonen are following with the blurring the lines between shonen and seinen chainsaw man, jjk, hells paradise, etc all really push what’s allowed in a shonen
it feels like a shounen ass shounen. Thats neither good or bad , Theres many shounen with more layered character work and deeper themes. Yet they are still shounen. CSM is no exception. People said that hxh is nothing like other shounens , same for promise neverland or death note . Even attack on titan was published in shounen magazine
The opening fits the overall vibe of the show while the ending fits the episode.

Dunno if you guys know but this season of CSM has 12 eps. And each ep has a different ending theme by different artists. The first one (the one you heard at the end) was by Vaundy, who did the 2nd op for Ranking of kings.

28:01 Yes, Sam, it does air on tv in Japan. It's broadcast by TV Tokyo, which I think also airs SPY X FAMILY. And this show airs at 00:00 (midnight) probably because of all the bloodyness, as you guessed Sam (I think Dani missed the point Sam was trying to make there ;)

To add a little bit more, Japanese animation is created with the investment of many companies, so self-regulation is introduced in order not to damage the image of the company. However, since Chainsaw Man is performed only by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Shueisha, and MAPPA, there is almost no need to self-regulate!

@@user-gm7sy6ri8m Mappa being the only member of the animation committee doesn't change chensorship airing rules for TV, those are regulated by law and by the broadcaster's preference. That's why airing at midnight is still funamental (this is also the same time that the uncensored versions of ecchi/risque shows are aired, while censored version have an afternoon/evening schedule). Of course, it was likely Mappa that directly asked TV Tokyo for an appropriate slot, warning them of the level of gore and themes in general, but they likely dicussed how early they could air (they probably fought to not be broadcasted too late, like 1 or 2 AM, since this would lose them wider audiences). In the same vein, battle shonen more aimed at children could chose any airing time (while daylight would be preferable since later slots are dedicated to less-children-friendly content), but they still usually air in the hours after school finishes for obvious reasons.
Fujimoto's and Shueisha's names in the committee are borderline irrelevant: the author's name must be present every time you use their product because they created the intellectual property, but they lose right over its use when they publish their manga (Shueiha/Jump can impose pretty much everything: what they must write, when they must stop, IF they get an anime, WHO gets to animate it, money division etc). This is why manga authors get literal pennies from anime, merchandise and movies (Demon Slayer's author received some thousand yens from the movie that literally broke every record in Japan's film history...). They are however well compensated by page written, magazine sold and volume sales: every relevant Jump author has more money than they can possibly spend due to their health-destroying work.
Meanwhile, the reason while I say that Shueisha's name in the committee is also irrelevant is that, while they have rights over the IP even more than the author, they usually don't take decisions regarding anime production and their name is mostly included for legal reasons. This could be slightly different in this case, since usually this happens because the committee is controller by immensely large publishers (who are absent for Chainsaw), and we have proof CSM's case is outside the norm given how much Fujimoto is involved in the creative process...but involving him was still Mappa's choice (as in: "let's ask Fujimoto for input!"), so unless Mappa had some reason to give Shueisha more leeway than what was warranted, I don't expect any Jump executives (other than Fujimoto's editor, who was still asked for opinions) to have forced anything.

They’re going to have unique endings for each episode. They posted the first on UA-cam. The song that plays in the credits is the ending song of that week. I’d recommend watching them on UA-cam after each episode and including in the video as this first one was super hype, a bit more metal than the opening too. The visuals are a super-cut of scenes from the episode with the new ed music, so if they do that every week I’d say don’t watch until after the episode.

chainsaw man chapters 1-97 were in the shonen section, but chapters 98 onwards are in their seinen section for obvious reasons
There is a little mistake in the subtitles, when she gives the 2 options to the MC, the second option the girl gives her is to keep him as her pet (the subs say keep him as human), and then he asks what does a pet have for breakfast?
People tend to confuse CGI and Rotoscoping a lot. CSM (and Mappa, in general) uses many types of animation to create 2D and 3D scenes and in that first fight as a "chainsaw man" they do all of them, in fact, most of it isn't CG.
Anyways, looks amazing, looks realistic and it kinda makes animating certain things less of a nightmare.

To the one who wanted metal in the opening, this ending song that you skipped for this first episode was straight-up hard rock. There will be 11 other endings this season. I bet that Maximum the Hormone and TK will fulfill that wish for you when their endings come up.
MAPPA's youtube channel has the ending song with what is basically an amv. I don't know if it will be like that everyone episode but since the song will apparently change it might.
Interesting thing about the ending theme, I think unless they also did the opening theme, is its performed by the same group that did the 2nd opening theme for ranking of kings.
cool thing this anime is doing first time ever is their changing the ending song every episode and they have big names making ORIGINALS so be sure to listen to them :)

29:00 I can offer an explanation for this. Reason why some scenes got censored in early HxH is because back then it was broadcast during the day unlike most anime (which air late at night in Japan).

Went into the anime not really knowing anything about it besides the title and a couple still images. This first one got me pumped though, really fun and touching along with the crazy action xD

The voice chris pratt is doing for mario is his brooklyn accent because mario in some versions of himself is from brooklyn.
Tatsuki Fujimoto has a very similar storytelling style as Hiroya Oku (the author of Gantz, Inuyashiki and Gigant.)
Both are heavily influenced by American horror, sci-fi, pulp and crime thriller cinema.
The best I can describe this manga now anime is it’s an adult swim tv show made into a battle shonen.

Damn, so many people hating on the opening - I actually like it way more than the ending, though I'll admit it's pretty unconventional, but hey, so is the show.

@@vector0420 HxH I agree the full version is leagues better. I've only heard the full version of Kick Back once and tbh, I prefer the shorter version. The complete version is a little too unconventional for me, the chorus in particular feeling weird. Just my opinion.

Chris did have an accent it's a Brooklyn accent Mario originally had a Brooklyn accent since the first time he was voiced also I can't confrimbif its true but Chris was told to not to sound like Charlie's version of Mario
Chris pratt is also a well accomplished voice actor. And the stereotypical Italian mario voice actor is also co signing the movie and is credited in the movie and voices someone else. Sooo.. yeah. I say we put our trust in the people doing it
btw just to clarify shonen is not for little boys, but for teenage boys. So mostly for the 14 to 18 range, which for now I think it definitely seems made for that demographic, but I do agree that it definitely gives a seinen vibes. Also I'm guessing it could have been just a slip of the tongues in the moment, but just in case it wasn't is why I'm clarifying, sorry if you already knew this.

gonna be some gray ethics here. so far I haven't seen the devil's do anything really wrong. tomato was living, doggie didn't try to kill denji when that could have saved him, zombie was just culling a danger to his species, the dummies offered themselves to zombie out of ego greed
If you really wanna know (SPOILER WARNING:) Devils a born from the fear of humans, they thrive off of seeing humans in pain and in despair. Depending on what fear they derive from also depend on how strong they are, so a tomato devil is pretty weak since almost no one is afraid of tomatoes, but a chainsaw is scary because of the imagery that comes with one (how it can gore through flesh and mutilate people) which is why pochita is so strong

yeah when it's published in the manga it's black and white so it won't look as "gory" as having red colored blood. Anyway, this is totally the kind of thing that would appeal to a 12 year old boy - just not something his parents would get for him in the US. Japanese people have a different view on what's appropriate for kids, lol.

U know unless they have a genuine Italian actor to voice Mario then anyone else is gonna be called racist or insensitive. It blows my mind how people forget the time we live in. Even worse is people who are actually comparing Mario's voice to Sonics original design which is utterly ridiculous. Btw Mario's original voice (from the cartoon that came out before the game) is completely different from the one everyone knows so people need to stop whining
