(2) Can i use red soil for planting?

Hello, I have placed lotus plants in a container. I've provided everything they need, including fertilizer for lotuses. At first, there were many leaves sprouting. Now, no more leaves are growing. They seem to be either turning yellow or the edges of the leaves are rotting. They remain medium-sized. Can you tell me where the problem might be coming from? Thank you
