Growing Lotus Time Lapse - Seed to Water Plant in 50 Days
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лют 2025
- Time Lapse video over 50 days of growing a bonsai lotus variety from a seed to plant. Lotus seed was scored all over the its outer shell with a file before germinating in a water cup. It started spouting on day 3 and growing steadily. The plant was transferred to a larger container filled with rain water and mud from our backyard pond. This tipped the growing speed to another level, the lotus vines and its leaves' pads were thriving and appearing so fast. Afterward, I had to move the plant outside into a filled mud & rain water pot for its size.
This is a fun-growing plant project and super easy to grow at home. Will have an update once it has flowers.

I like how it grows before the roots even appear
uhh ... a lotus sprout comes before the roots come
@@bruh_dahelthats what they said
Mine has been going for 6 months still no aerial leaves let alone flowers they say you wait 1 or 2 years before it starts to flower
Mustafa, Lotus needs strong sunlight to develop aerial leaves, so planting it outdoor or under a strong light will help. Yeah, it may take 1 year or so before seeing flowers.
@@eLapseTime I planted it outside
@@eLapseTime I live in South India we are tropical I think
Oh, I'm not sure why, but when I planted it indoor, it had no aerial leaves, however, after moving it to outside a month or so, it has been having some aerial leaves as you can see at the end of the video.
Add fertilizer for Lotus plants

Can anyone explain
Roots
Amazing to watch.
That's beautiful ! 😍😍😍
The way the lily pads overlap on each other…
Great video 👍
Did you leave the light on 24/7?
Yes. The light was always on.
Beautiful
Its looking dancing lotus but i love it
i need to know where you find sand paper and lotus seeds also large tanks because i'm thinking of putting fish inside also a filter and fish flakes.
What kind of light did you use? And no water changes literally just let it go? What did you use for a substrate? Looks like clay, and I'm assuming no fertilizer? Also how far away is the light from the top of the bowl? I'm sorry for all the questions.
Yes, no water changes but regularly added water, no fertilizer. I lighted up a LED grow light above it about a foot. The substrate was mud that I took out from a pond close by.
@@eLapseTime thank you!
I just got some seeds for Christmas and you asked all the right questions 2 years ago. If you see this, thank you! Hope yours grew well 😊

Wow 🥺
This video is awesome. Was it easy to find the seeds?
Thanks. Yes, you can easily find it online.
Can you keep a lotus plant out of the sun?
Please make a new timelapse of Lotus .
what type of soil in bottom
Oh bruh…I see that your lotus grew quick with aerial leaves and all….mine has been growing for 2 years and it just has 1 coin size aerial leaves…. And 1-2 coin size to palm size water level leaves….it grows outdoor in a large laundry basin. What could be the problem? ;_;
Hi, Sounds like not enough sunlight or lack of nutrition. You could try to move it to a brighter spot (if possible) and add some aquarium plant food/fertilizer.
Oh I see I see, thanks for responding! I will try planting lotus again.
Awesome
Where is flowers??
Its not mature enough to grow flowers

@@eLapseTime ok
Hi. I filled the seeds and soaked within 2 days one of them sprouted . Whereas today I noticed all of the seeds have turned pink in colour and sticky. I am concerned that the seeds have turned bad for some reason. Or is it normal. Could you pls advice what's to be done..
P.s. I change the water every 2 days.
Thanks in advance
Did you rub the seeds?
Its not normal why it turn into pink
No. I had snapped the top of the seeds. And it sprouted within 3 days. But then on 4th day it turned pink .
I will try another one by scrapping the top. Hope it works

I have kept my lotus seed in water from 1 months but roots are not coming. What i can do..??
Buy new seeds. Yours probably never sprout. Change water daily, the water can get dirty easily. Also look at review before buying, first batch of mine never sprout then i bought from another seller and they sprout
2 leaves but no root what to do
15 din me kaise patte aagye mere to nahi aaye
can it growth with out soil
No you can't
Oh. Under there shade less Green svamp. More clean water
Wow, all that from 1 seed, i just bought some of these and mightve underestimated how much it will actually grow 😅
I thought it was 1 flower per seed 😅
Wow ! Excellent video. Did you use lights, if so would standard led grow lights work, what about Temp of water\air
I just read what you said strong lights so that's good as I've got hid and some very powerful LEDs but they're kind of expensive to run do you know the amount of hours suggested or maybe just growing outside in the right time of year bring them in the winter maybe I'm in Central Texas zone 8a \ 8b
Zone 8a/8b is prefect for growing lotus. No need to bring them inside in the winter. If you grow them indoors, 8-10 hours of light are enough.
okay, how do i do this
Why lotus leave not hight
That is a very weird snake you got there
Alien💀
Kaha hai lotus?
No flowers yet😢
0:49 it moves like a snake
Drunk from fermentation
Where is the flower 🤜🤛
Usually, lotus won't bloom in the first year of growing from seeds.
Has it bloomed now?
Still no flowers...
Firstly, they bloom during Jun to Sep. Secondly, depending on a lot of factors it can take up to two years for the first flowers. And they just flower for 4 days, and once a year. There are a lot of verities of lotus so this very a lot. Some bloom fast some don't. Some are not even lotuses but water lily's. Blue lotus that's sold as tea is usually not the Egyptian one sense that one is a blue water lily nicknamed blue lotus. The blue lily is more of a light blue colour rather than dark blue to purple. Haha that was not the question but anyway. Plant them early spring and you might get a flower 3 to 5 months later.
Flower ????
Not yet, it won't bloom any flowers in the first year.
Hey don't do this with your pot mosquitos will give eggs. Instead keep fishes in the pot.🎉❤
