I'm sitting here watching on the 1 year anniversary of the game's official release. Happy Birthday They Are Billions! What an amazing game!
I just love how idiots come to watch the videos and criticize them like it was the worst thing that happened to them ever. Like this is the 80's soviet union and there is absolutely no other person on earth streaming games that would fit their weirdly compulsive needs of having some stranger do exactly what they want.

It also appears to have a patrol key, and in a game like this having your army constantly patrolling the walls seems like it would be very good.
From the comments, this game is must be popular enough to pull the Minecraft crowd. Splat is a genuine gamer, learning how to play a new game for the first time. If your looking for the guy with gelled hair, faking excitement with promises of giveaways, I'm sure another channel will fit your needs.

um, he himself said he has played for over 75 hours. Game time. So your fanboy defense of "Splat is a genuine gamer, learning how to play a new game for the first time" does not hold up at all. 75 hours. 7 - 5. Hours. And still makes retarded msitakes. It's gone beyond a joke his incompetence, seriously.
I know people with over 400 hours in a game still discovering new aspects of it. Some people figure out games faster than others. Most simply enjoy the game without stressing over winning or losing.
75 hours is an arbitrary number when determining skill level in almost everything. Many people can spend over 60 hours a week doing a job but it hardly qualifies them to be an expect nor excludes them from making repeated mistakes. If anything, you just reinforce my comment but please continue to follow and add comments to support the channel.
He's also mentioned several times that he has multiple simultaneous games going, this is one of his earlier attempts made specifically for UA-cam. So he's learned things in his other games before being able to implement them in this one. It's a bit of a weird way to do it though. It probably would have been better to record several series with each one improving rather than trying to play multiple games and only putting 20-30 minutes into this recorded one every other day and making a mess of it.
Splattercat i realy like the way you present the game and because of that I want to tell you something: 1. please dont build walls only in lines it would be better to if you form al little U befor doors so the zombies can not attackt the whole door. 2. please use the button for an agressiv movement so you needn`t so much micromangantment. 3. scout more to see were you can expend. 4. be more aggresiv :D

Actually of all infantry units the most useful is... sniper. I know that it's hard to believe, but tis true. They scale perfectly in endgame. Like, see for yourself - 10 soldiers will kill 10 zombies with 45hp in 2 seconds (damn 1 armor on these zeds). 10 snipers will kill them in ~2sec as well. But if that's not ordinary zeds but executives - 10 soldiers will kill 10 executives in something like 6 seconds, while snipers kill them still in 2 seconds! I'm not even mentioning special infected and how much time they will sponge from your soldiers.
Although you should amass a pretty army of snipers for them to be that effective. 1-2 hundred of them is nice, 3-4 hundred is perfect. 30 of them could clear the map for sure, tested that with 26 of them.

erm those numbers are on paper, in actual fact the snipers in game all target the closest enemy and most of the time one shot the same thing, it screws with their targeting which majorly sucks considering their aiming time and base defense they'll again shoot the closest thing, so they'll be shooting hordes of normal zombies while acid spitters are attacking safe from range and fatso's every so often that don't get targeted specifically and etc. Your info is cute though.
Well, they do shoot the same target currently within a couple of conditions: when there is no more zombie to shoot, and if they are not in range when sniper started his animation. At least from my observations.
For example, let's say we have 2 snipers. In their range is a single zombie and they both start to take aim. Suddenly another zombie runs in range. In this situation, they both will shoot the first one. But, if there are 2 zombs within their range in the first place (say, if there is two running zombs before they start to take aim) - they will both shoot their own zed. So they excel in dealing with hordes and clearing big masses of zeds, actually.
Yup, they need tweaking right now, exactly because of this mechanic, but hopefuly that'll be soon-ish. Right now it seems that devs are working on target queue, according to some posts, and that'd make snipers even better, as well as all other units :)
Best use for snipers... put them on towers during the last wave so they snipe the spitters lol

If you hit "a" while you have military units selected and click on an area, they will move to that area while stopping to attack anything they encounter along the way
The more I watch you play, the more I want this game. But I also get more frustrated that I'll have to wait until next spring to play it since they already gave out all the beta keys (at least the ones I'd be willing to buy, Ranger and Soldier).
Basically, it hurts so good to watch.
Their original plan was to release in early access next year, but due to all the demand generated from UA-camrs, word of mouth, the thing catching fire, etc, the devs have pumped up their plans to 'some weeks from now'.

From what I've noticed on this map, bridges could be a thing in this game, to help with troop travel-time and base defense.
what ive found is that whatever wall they attack during their wave is the weakest area for the final wave
You can wipe those cities with soldiers alone. You don’t need titans. Make soldiers. Titans are ok but are hyper expensive compared to a soldier and are basically an executor that you can move, as long as it’s not fighting. So titans can’t fight in as many areas at once as say, 5 soldiers can. That ability, to reposition firepower where needed and spread/split that firepower as needed outweighs the benefit of a turret with legs. At this point, your priority should be to kill that city. Then fill that area with housing, ring it in walls, then every person in those houses into a solider, then put executors around the housing and call it Good. When the final day comes, that place will fall, but it won’t matter because you’ll have a mobile combat force AND still have those tiered defenses you put in place earlier.
You can also delete all that housing before the final wave if you want, of course.
Having played the game, and beaten the first map, soldiers aren't worth it. Trust me. You're better off clearing the map with 36 rangers until you get titans.
And DO NOT delete your housing before final wave. Units will leave if you can't pay them.
Ranger spam? Lol, do you also spam militia in age of empires? peons in warcraft? No, just no. Yes it's possible - anything is possible - sniper spam is possible, but no.
^^^ this, rangers don't have the dps to pull double duty map clearing and guarding the way soldiers can. Plus their health pool is shallow asf. Soldiers > rangers
guy called aznelite123 says to get just rangers until titans, hes cleared all maps and done them on a pretty good percent. he doesent reccomend soldiers either, id reccomend checking him out.
Soldiers cost food/upkeep which is almost always better spent on improving economy and they don't add much in the way of damage. Rangers are way cheaper, have much higher range, don't attract as much attention and don't bottleneck your housing building.

I actually had a wave 1 hit me on the opposite side of my city that I accidentally awoke a VOD on. I ended up winning that one too. I was super proud. Ever since then all of my wins have been walled off on each side of the map.

it would be nice to see a feature that allows your soldiers to change formation, most of the time they're bunched up, but if you could make them a column or line or v formation, i think they would be more effective against the hordes ive seen

Use the A key for unit movement, it moves to destination but attack enemy units if they encounter them.
So just cuz i notice it.. im new to this game but not the genre. If your scouting and tap a then left click the group will move toward the marker but stop to fight if they get close
I enjoy the game play, but dude you leave massive chunks of land up for grabs that could've AND should've been ceased long ago...You could've looked down water areas within your walls easily if you'd pushed a lil harder

Depends on what you have access to. He says in this video it's not worth it because of the upkeep on them... But it comes down to just how much stone do you have access to. He's had maps with almost no stone whatsoever, making mills the better option over power plants; but if you have shittons of stone, power plants better. -- For where he's at in this particular playthrough, he's borked either way. His gold income is simply too low for both upgrading existing mills or building new plants. He never has money spare to do anything else at the same time which just keeps putting him further behind.
but next play-through, he will be so much better because as he said, he has played like 70+ hours of the game outside of this play-through since he started it and so he will get things done quicker and more efficiently
ya upgraded mills are extra 34 gold for 20 or 30 power plus workers, plant are better IF you can spare five stone and wood, 40 gold for 160 power, ...if not then reg mills give 30 pwr for 6 gold, easy to spam if u kept on top of expanding for room, .... all depends on what ur limiting resource is, space money or stone... to bad all three is king of limited in this play through
Don’t really build advanced stuff most of them are to expensive to justify their upkeep farms maybe you could upgrade if you don’t have much farm land.Mills you should try to keep at base level and put them wherever you can

Executors are overall better for defending singular locations. Titans, if you can amass between 10 to 16 of them, makes a force that can clear the map in about 15 days.

You seem to know what you're doing. What's slowing you down is the fact you are explaining what you're doing, which isn't a bad thing since you are making a video. But you will stop playing for 30 seconds to a minute to explain. That adds up. You need to pause more often.
Just remember to stay busy with rts games. You always want to be doing something.

Love the content so far but it seems like you take way too much time between episodes & spend have of the time recapping & figuring out where you left off. Personally I recommend 1 hour episodes or record several in one day & space out the release. Either keep up the good commentary

Dont repeat the same things every episode, upgrade your farms, clear out the south-eastern side of the map, im 90% sure there is nothing there and you building walls and executors there without scouting that area is just a waste of money. Also somebody show this man a picture of the pokemon he keeps naming, since execUtor is the upgraded ballista and eggsEcutor is a pokemon... Use attack command to move your soldiers, not right click, i can tell that you never played strategy games. Also stop repeating what you said in the last 10 episodes.. Btw did i mention you should stop repeating what you said in the previous episode. I dont know if i said that already but you should stop repeating yourself every episode. Repeating yourself every episode is kinda annoying dont you think, so please stop...
gl getting this idiot to upgrade his farms, he doesnt even know it exists, its beyond his comprehension. he's going to be forever trying to place basic farms on any tiny bit of green land for a tiny bit of food white stuffing his economy/unit production slowly but surely. ive tried telling him last few episodes but i dont think he knows how to read let alone the simple concept of upgraded farms.
While it is a little frustrating watching this, Splatt batch-records. Meaning these episodes were recorded, I believ,e two weeks ago now. So this is actually a pretty old play-through.
Whiskiz Yo Farm and Mill upgrades are only really useful when there is a land shorage. Most of the time it's better to just acquire more land and build additional farms and mills. The upkeep costs on the advanced versions of both are just not worth the benefit.

Splat has said before rts isn't usually his thing, he's never claimed to be an expert. If you're going to bother watching videos just enjoy seeing someone enjoy playing, even if they aren't the best at it... I actually enjoy watching non expert players doing thier thing more than guys who always do the same thing every time, since they've worked out that's how to win in the fastest, easiest way.
he also said that he started this play-through almost 2 weeks ago and that he keeps finding the mistakes he made because he was bad then but has gotten much better and dont forget he is a youtuber and they cant 100% focus on the game
its just so hard to not jump through the computer and take over but game looks awesome
