One of the best looking 787’s I have EVER SEEN SO FAR!! Only beating out the Qatar 787-9! Great job Bryce on the play button and the 787 inaugural Flight! You have got 3 other Avgeeks UA-camrs as well! Skylite Productions, Sam Chui, Patrick Shea, iTripReport, NickFlightX and the Global G’s!
Congrats on the beautiful 100,000 subscriber award! It's most deserved for the wonderful coverage you've provided, so many people viewing your full-flights from their bedrooms or living rooms. Can't thank you enough Bryce!
This is one of the most enjoyable videos ever. Fantastic takeoff, beautiful white wing against a perfect blue sky.....then a dark gray wing and finally a black wing ( thought you were flying through another eclipse). And you were in a perfect seat to actually see the start of the contrails forming. Well done.
Hi been a while since I’ve watched your videos I’ve been a little bit busy watching other UA-camrs but I’m going on a vacation again in 2 weeks going to see my grandparents love the video
This is the first time I have ever seen a wide body T/O from 26R. Equally odd was seeing aircraft taxing off 26L at the taxiway at 8R. I've been to Hawaii 16 times and have never taken off or landed in that direction.Fantastic recording of a very rare departure. SO well done.
Thanks my friend. An unusual storm system had blown through the two days prior, and the typical trade winds were still being overpowered by that. So we got this very rare, reverse ops, takeoff.
Lucky you. What a great flight to be on, and many thanks for sharing the experience. Great high-def video as always and much appreciated. And it never ceases to amaze me how people freak out at the slightest hint of turbulence (1:25:00)

Hey Traveler. Woo Hoo 100,000 subs. Well Done. (Solo Travel Japan) Haku, has done a multiple episode series on JAL Seats. His last was the brand new JAL First Class Seats. And he used the land side runway for take off, however I saw the Ocean side runway is also in operation. With the flight path right out over the ocean, and you were on the Waikiki side of the plane too !! Booo. I know you explained the "Winds" on the island to me before. Landing at the City by the Bay at night is really cool. I've done that approach at night several times myself.
Thanks my friend. Yeah, I really wish they hand't been in reverse ops that day. Any other day and I would've welcomed it, but the one day I really wanted the Waikiki views on departure haha.
It sure is. All modern commercial aircraft have their wing structures tested well beyond what they'd ever encounter in the real world. Thanks for watching my friend.
Thanks my friend. Yes, this was a storm system pushing east that was over the islands the couple of days before. We were at 36k feet and still skimming the tops of them. So there were some pretty’s strong updrafts we were hitting.
As I’ve said previously, I’ll wait to see what any official findings are released by the FAA before I make any decisions based on what could be disgruntled employees. It’s suspicious to me that these are all coming out now, after the 787 has been in service nearly 15 years and has never had a hill loss.
What was up with that squeaky sound in turbulence? It sounds like either the seat/cabin fittings are cheap or something was rubbing against your camera.
It’s the overhead bins. I don’t think I’ve been on a plane for 20 years where the overhead bins don’t squeak when in turbulence. Next time you’re on a flight, look at the bins and you’ll usually see foam or cardboard shoved up in the gaps to try to silence that 😂. I’m not sure if the little bit of movement they have is intentional to the design, or just a side effect of the sometimes bumpy weather.
@@sla31 Fair point, it probably is the bins. I have heard squeaky bins on 737, 757, 777, A320, A330...but maybe it is more noticeable here on 787 because the cabin is quieter. That said I did not hear any squeaking in four A350 trips last summer.
@@haroldlipschitz9301 you know, I don't know that I heard any on my last couple of A350 flights either. I'll have to go listen to some of the audio and see haha.
Yup. I often say, I have to make sure I don't breathe to heavily when I make these. The aircraft are all so quiet now you can hear it if I get to close to the microphone haha.
Thanks to a storm system that had pushed through the areas the winds were still opposite compared to their usual flow. So we got this rare, sunny, reverse ops takeoff.
This seat 35A. However, you can’t necessarily compare that to what you were on. Each airline has different numbering systems they use. Depends on how much first class and business class they have, some airlines actually numbers that superstition in their cultures. And looking online, it looks like Etihad has like four or five different seating layouts on their 787-9. This was the third row in the last section of economy.
@@abdullah_awan36 I hope you got the gist of that. I had talk to text fill it out and some of it got lost in translation haha. The bottom line is that seat 33A on the seating layout you were on may very well be 35A on Hawaiian. But there's a lot that factors into each airline's numbering systems. It's not the same on every aircraft. Thanks for watching my friend!
The Hawaiian 787 livery might be the best livery out there!
Yep! 2nd livery has to be Qantas 100 Years and the 3rd being the Etihad Livery!
It’s definitely in the running for that title 😁.
Enjoy it while you can before the merger with Alaska Airlines.
