There's only one part left! Unfortunately this part wasn't able to be as polished as I would have liked it to have been, my software was NOT liking the amount of editing I'd been putting into it. I had to render it out in parts to try and remove all the massive problems it was giving me, then put it all together in a different program. The last episode will be edited with something different so hopefully none of those same problems show themselves again!

"Tails hasn't been playable in 9 years" made plenty of sense to me, and the subsequent revelation that it's actually been 16 years seemed like an impossible exaggeration until I actually ran the numbers and realized 2006 really was 16 years ago. Sonic's sidekick hasn't been a playable character in a mainline game for the majority of the franchise's lifespan at this point.
Edit: Okay a bunch of people are bringing up Mania, which I forgot about. Admittedly I haven't played it since I could never really get into 2D Sonic. But if we are to use the specification that a game developed by Sonic Team is what classifies as a mainline Sonic game, then the statement still stands.
You could also say it's been 16 years since Tails got gameplay designed specifically for himself. I believe in all his appearances since 06 he's just been a character you could select.

I definitely agree with the nitpick rebuttal. Yes most things RS has said have been small things within the game, when taken individually they don't seem like much. But these small things continue to slowly build on one another to where they get harder to brush aside when they pop up. I feel like it gets to where you can only say "it's fine" so many times before it starts to become not fine.
It's death by a thousand cuts basically. All the issues just pile on top of each other to the point of frustration. Specially when the original didn't had many of these problems.
In this case, it's also worse, since most of the problems of this "remaster" or whatever weren't in the effing original Wii version

I totally agree with this. But also if you ask me, sound in games are a key factor and it is what creates the atmosphere and tone and just expresses the thoughts of feelings of the part you are playing. The fact that half of the time you can't hear anything since the audio volume mixing is awful or the sound just won't play takes me out of the experience entirely.
and even then, you can't ignore the fact that game's main gimmick isn't working proplrly

I love how spot on the Sam cameo was, he's just critical enough to not call the game outright bad. Anyway you're really taking Bear Grylls to new heights man, I was not expecting his new character arc. Also I can't believe that Sonic.exe decapitation is finally in an official Sonic game.
And even when requiring to admit it is actually bad it preferred to focus on something different.

Sam has been giving SEGA slack so long that his audience is now 50% fanboys, it would be detrimental to his growth to start spitting hard facts at this point in his career.
Also he's getting actual gigs like making the Origins trailers, as a UA-camr who relies on honestly he's put himself in a precarious situation where being more fence-sitty behooves him.
He's still making straight up calls like telling his audience Origins isn't the current definitive classic Sonic game but I doubt we'll see anything further negative than that unless Frontiers is do incredibly bad he'd lose credibility by not slamming it.

The only time I got a corrupted save file and played the game again to beat it again was Unleashed, but to be fair the corrupted save was my fault since I turned the console off while it was saving to see what would happen, so my recommendation is to listen when a game tells you not to cut the power out while in the process of saving
Honestly I expected RadSoda to legitimately give up at that point, I would if I were in his shoes. Goes to show the absolute willpower this unit of a New Zealander has.

This game is literally impossible to complete, as starting up one innocent-looking level will result in a critical failure and your entire save file being deleted.

@@main7168 look I was bored ok, I had to look up a guide because of the new placements of some of the red rings, which require the use of that poorly made ghost wisp might I add. Not to mention how the game kept cheating me out of an S rank, and for one achievement I had to sit through that long ass credit sequence which I think lasts for about 13 minutes, and yes the audio was glitching out there too. TL; DR I completed this game to tell you not to bother with it. Super sonic in this version isn’t worth it just play the original or the DS version.

What the people saying "those are only minor issues, let people enjoy things" are not comprehending is that the things that they are enjoying like level design and mechanics and music, these things were all ready and made to a high quality by the original creators. The porting team have only really made things much worse, and SEGA will continue to do this while they get away with it.
I'm a little sad to see that these vids don't come out as often as I'd like, so I'm gonna make sure I cherish every moment of this man's torment and comedic hijinks....

Radical Soda, these are all really minor issues, you know, music being wrong, sound effects cutting out, graphical glitches, sonic not running right, all of these things are pretty small and they don't affect the game play, and that's what's important.

Well technically the last time we got to play as Tails was in Sonic Boom Fire and Ice. Yeah it’s a Spin off but hey you get to play as Tails at least. Weird how it’s the Boom games of all things that let you get to play as multiple characters and not the mainline games

I'm suprised you missed the glitch in the 2D vertical Starlight Carnival act where if you fall off and Tails brings you back up, the stage actually turns into 3D.
My favorite part was when Sam went from alright, to the save corruption screen, then back to the sad puffy eyes had me dying laughing. There truly is no greater pain as a gamer than this

I've gotta thank you for what you discussed at 14:14. Finally, somebody else has properly acknowledged this as a problem! I cannot begin to tell you how annoyed I am at the fact that SEGA refuses to code Modern Sonic's jump the right way anymore. He's supposed to have an active hitbox from the moment you tap jump to the moment you hit the ground again. It's a basic part of the platformer formula and I will always see Modern's jump as a design flaw. Adventure and Heroes did everything so much better and I genuinely hope they go back to that style of gameplay someday soon. Anyway, thank you for always putting emphasis on relevant Sonic gameplay features that need to return, and how have I not subscribed to your main channel yet?! Let me fix that real quick. Love your content as always, man! You're always very informative and manage to bring a smile to my face, and I'm sure I'm not alone in that sentiment. Keep it up!

@@AgentNero9 Its not as horribly busted as Colors Ultimate but there is really no excuse to release it with the issues it has/had.
From Tails brocken AI in Sonic 2, worse music quality than the Smartphone release (And way worse ones in Sonic 3 (I'm talking about the audio quality here not the replacement tracks), having the cut-scenes play no matter the mode, messing up CD's ending, bad implementation of the Drop-dash in Sonic 1, 2 and CD(with the Sonic 2 one even being what breaks Tails AI) and lots of bugs in Sonic 3.
That on top of that we also got lying in the marketing about new playable characters, removal of all other ways to buy these games and having the "original mode" not actually being original but rather just the new versions in 4:3 with lives (with also means spin-dash in Sonic 1) doesn't help ether.

I think the problem with people saying it's nitpicking shows the complacency of low standards in gaming now. Sure, it *might* not affect the core gameplay, but could you argue that this isn't far worse with glitches and cut corners than the original? Can you argue games in the last five years have been as polished as games made before software updates and day one patches? I'm talking on release, no updates at all.
Before you could fix glitches with an online patch, when a game shipped, it was the final product. Anything still in the game couldn't be fixed. Only way they could sell the product without those issues was by taking the original release off shelves and putting up new physical copies with the changes. That was a costly process that would cause the developers/publishers to lose money. With consequences like that, as well as the general consumer base refusing to be conned out of their money with a crappy game, folks made sure to release something that wasn't a buggy mess and that could stand on its own two feet. And the games that came out a buggy mess would flop more often than not.
I believe that if a game gives you entertainment, then it's doing its job. But does that mean it should get a pass for poor optimization? No, not at all. Should we hold game companies to the same standards folks had where this kind of mess would be an insult to the buyer and wouldn't be tolerated? Absolutely.
