- Eating Chinese food in London, this cantonese restaurant EXCEEDED my expectations for dinner?! I’ve been to Saikei in North Greenwich for dim sum (it’s not my fave but i love the vibe inside) HOWEVER i enjoyed the evening a la carte menu!
What we ordered:
- Grilled pork dumplings with vibegar £7.50
- Baked spare ribs with salt and pepper £13.50
- Steamed eel with black bean sauce £27.50
- King prawn fried rice £15
- Deep fried ice cream £6
- Sweet sago with taro £5
Review: The eel wasn’t as fresh as i liked but wasn’t oversteamed or tough, flavours were balanced but a touch on the saltier side. I enjoyed it a lot tho!
My boyfriend INHALED the spare ribs and adored it - i found it slightly too dry and would’ve liked big chunks of onions stir fried with the salt and pepper to break up the meat but very, very generous portion and the outside remained crispy throughout and wasn’t too oily.
The king prawns in the fried rice were good. The pork dumplings were good. Lots of taro bits in the dessert and we didn’t expect TWO of the huge deep fried rice cream. All in all, this will be added to the monthly rotation for cantonese dinner options in the North Greenwich area!
