  • In this clip taken from Ep. 138, Special Forces Operational Detachment - Delta (SFOD-D) member Dale Comstock describes his first mission as a Delta operator. This clip has everything from Army helicopters taking too much ground fire to prison doors being blown off with "plenty" of C-4.

Funny thing.. As a combat engineer using c4 and tnt throughout my time in service, we had a book that we used as a point of reference for the steel that you need to cut through or the amount of material that you need to destroy with a specific amount of explosives and I always said, "too much is always enough".

The transition back to civilian life having missed all those years of building a career/family would be brutal but I sometimes feel like I missed out by not joining the military. It’s a big commitment. I’m 27, have a graduate degree and a good job, no wife, and could probably still try it and come out relatively fine but it’s a really hard decision. The part where all of the infantry guys were gone for Christmas, so they had clerks and cooks as their outer cordon seems unlikely. Also, he said they took no casualties, but then went on to say that they had several people injured. Casualty encompasses both killed and injured, which is definitely something he would know. Calling in casualties is part of a LACE report, which certainly he would have done a lot of those and would have to know what a casualty is to call them in correctly.

I was in the Army as a 19K tank gunner from 01 to 06 and never seen any Delta Force. I got to work with Special Forces, Navy SEALs, Army Rangers (because everyone needs tanks) but never Delta, I’m starting to think they’re a very small unit/group of about 50 to 100 soldiers, that would explain their ability to fly under the radar.

Delta are the true quiet professionals. They don’t discuss what they did until they are retired and ops are declassified; and even then it’s hard to come by. One thing I am certain about is that if CAG (Delta) had been tagged with the Osama bin Laden raid, we would still have no idea who pulled that trigger, and would likely only be aware of basic operational details. Conversely, if DEVGRU (ST6) had taken out Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, there’d probably be a book already.
That is not a complete knock on ST6, those dudes are pure badasses too, but they have lost a lot of the mystery that used to surround them thanks to a few folks who decided to chase clout - Delta on the other hand, has not.

    • @deathfire096

What are you talking about? The founder of Delta, Charlie A Beckwith wrote books about Delta and he died in 1994. You could buy a copy today for $9.89 paperback. If the founder of Delta can write books and go public that is the green light and ok for any former Delta to get a book deal. The founder of Delta started all before anyone in the civilian world knew who were the Seals. If you go to Amazon, there are a lot of Army books from Rangers, Green Berets and regular Army force. The Army has the most books out of any other branch. Amazon has them all for cheap.
Even on failed missions like Eagle Claw, everybody knew they were involved. Chuck Norris made 2 movies about them and they made 3 more movies without him. Peter Blaber who was a Delta commander wrote a book. Amazon has it for $15.99. Amazon has a bunch of Delta books with cool covers and tittles telling their missions about former Delta guys. Steve Stone wrote Delta books. You can buy a Delta hoodie with their emblem for $39.95 in Amazon and E-bay.
So stop the b.s. Seals now have the spotlight and some in other units are jealous with their parrots online. Why would anybody be upset that a former Seal killed Osama and wrote a book? The founder of Delta can write books about the unit but not a Seal? LOL.

    • @MrGunwitch

I’ve read that book, mainly historical (how Beckwith built the unit etc.) very little operational info. If Delta had done the UBL raid you wouldn’t have heard anything about it till 20 years after the fact.
SEALs are cowboys…multiple guys from their top tier unit breaking opsec and claiming the UBL kill, it’s embarrassing.

    • @deathfire096
      @deathfire096 Рік тому +1

@@MrGunwitch really? Dale doesn’t shut up about it and many Delta books in public. Former Delta Tyler Grey is now a Hollywood consultant playing a Seal on TV. You have former Delta on the Shawn Ryan show sharing their missions so please stop with the B.S. Some Army fans are still butthurt that Seals got the Bin Laden gig and they didn’t and it burns listening to the operation 😂. Jealousy!!!!! Seal Team 6 was formed due to the shortcomings of Delta. It must hurt deep for Army lovers that for over 40 years to know that Seal Team 6 exist because Delta felt short and Seals getting the glory. 😂

@@deathfire096 Dale's in his 60s, not the same thing. Bin Laden's body was still warm and Bissonnette was already doing 60 Minute interviews on MSM.
How many Delta guys have their own podcasts? Now compare that to how many SEALS have a podcast?
How many Delta books are there? How many SEAL books?
      Completely different order of magnitude.
SEALS only got the Bin Laden gig because they happened to be on the ground in Afghanistan at the time while Delta were stationed in Iraq (where the real war was being fought). Additionally, the incoming USSOCOM commander was Vice Admiral McRaven who was an ex-SEAL so it was clearly a political/nepotism situation.
If you knew anything about military history you'd know that CAG were at the forefront of HVT missions (including UBL) for the majority of the GWOT.

@@MrGunwitch Since you are too lazy to look and count, Delta (Army) books: 1) Delta Force Heroes 13 book series, 2) Inside Delta Force 3) Delta Force Army's Counter-terrorist 4) American Spartan 5) Delta: 30th year anniversary 6) The Ranch 7) Delta Force: Memoir 9) Delta Solution 10) Army Delta Force 11) Delta Force: Special Operations 12) The Mission: the Men and Me. 13) Black Site 14) Inside Delta Force 15) The Elite 16) Delta: Kill Bin Laden the Hunt 17) Stay in the Fight: Delta Force 18) Delta Force Rescue. There are more to list. Add the Army Green Berets and Army Rangers books and by over 3 to 1 the Army 3 elite units beats Seals and Devgru combine in books. Delta/Green Berets/Rangers have more podcasts combine than the Seals. It's easy to spot, if the people running the podcasts are former Army, then it will be Delta, Rangers or Green Berets they will cover the most . If the podcasts are run by former Seals, well DUH! they will cover more Seals you hypocrite child. You lie so much that it's easy to expose your lies.
Political/Nepotism? are you a child? Delta and Devgru are all under JSOC and both are tier 1. JSOC is run by the top brass from Army,Navy and Air Force Generals and Admirals. They don't play branch envy or branch warfare like you. This is not rivalry High School. Devgru got the job because it was requested by the President since the President was presented with different plans and the 1st plan was the Air Force blow up the whole compound and it was presented by JSOC Air Force General. They rejected the idea. Devgru got the mission because the actual Devgru team was coming from the states and they didn't want to take tier 1 teams already in deployment and call attention and DEVGRU assured the top that they can do the job if he was there and the President wanted the Seals. Sucks for the Army lovers like you but get over it. Devgru got the job done and jealousy sucks.
