I noticed this is from a few years back. Do you still only charge 20.00 per person? Also what about parents are they at the course as well taking pictures from behind you?
Another great video! Thanks for sharing your ideas! I do have a question in terms of delivery of photos. Like yourself, I try to deliver same day because you are right these kids live in the moment. So my question is how many photos do you deliver in your mini sessions?
Thank you for sharing your expertise. Just one other question... You say that you use your 50mm for all these pictures, do you only have one camera shooting in this short session? With two photographers, is someone lining kids up while someone is shooting? 15 min sessions seems stressful to me. Oh, and one more question, what is your f-stop set at for larger groups? I don't want to blur kids out. Prom is this weekend!
Awesome questions!! We both shoot and split up so we can get more sessions in. We have an assistant along with us who organizes groups, collects the money, and all of that fun stuff! We will probably shoot at an F4 or so for a larger group.
Oh you will love that lens! We use it for seniors, couples and a small family. So good! Settings really depend on the light and who you’re photographing
@E- Squared I have a 50mm 1.8 so I could use that. 🤷♀️ it's at 430pm so I'm hoping it will be cloudy because sun gets pretty harsh at the country club we will be at. Usually a big group of seniors (up to 16) and then they want couples and girls groups. So, would the 50mm be better? I have most trouble with shutter because when I'm trying to get the meter at 0, it wants to pull the shutter way down to like 20-40 🤷♀️ I'm so new...lol still learning lots of things but LOVE your videos. Sooo helpful!! 🙂
If it's a group how do you deliver the photos? Just to one person or all of them? And do you advertise a certain amount of photos included in the $20 per person mini session? I'm having trouble wrapping my head around it all.
Hey! We don’t advertise how many images they will get. We do give them digitals of all the edits we do for them. We will then send that groups gallery to whoever signed up and then they can forward it on. I hope that all makes sense.
This Video is really helpful, Exactly what I need RN, A group of 15-20 persons (grade 12 prom) planned using a restaurant with a decorated pic corner/booth so it's all indoor. My questions are; 1. Can I use a general link for the group & personalised link for the individuals? 2. Can I watermark the pictures? 3. Do I need a model/client release form signed before I can post on social media & tagg them? 4. Apart from the $20 per person for the mini-session, what can I charge for an Extra 3hours of dance & dine party?
1. For sure! We separate them for each group but it’s not needed. 2. Yes! 3. We don’t but it doesn’t hurt. You could put it in the form they fill out to sign up that they agree for you to use them. 4. I would charge your typical rate for an hour session. :)
Is the 15-20 minutes for the entire session or they each get 15-20 minutes per couple? Do you have them meet at someones house or all at a place that is convenient like a park?
15-20 for the group is what we do or if they sign up for a couple only they still get 15 min. We meet them usually at a local golf course that allows us to shoot there or the prom venue if it has some nice backdrops.
Great Video. Thank you!! Does the session fee include photos or do you charge separately for the digital images? How many images do you usually provide per couple? Thanks again.
It does include the images. We do it super cheap! You could definitely sell the files. It depends on the group size for how many we deliver. It varies so much.
Thanks for watching!! Let us know if you have any prom related questions.
Your videos are so helpful to watch as someone who is interested in starting a senior photography business! Thank you for making this content!!
You are so welcome
Thanks!
Very helpful video! Thank you.
When the high schoolers post to social media, do most of them tag you? Or do you request that they do? Very helpful video. Thanks!
THANK YOU!!!

It depends on the group size. It could range from 15-60 or so. We do b and w sometimes too.
Hi. Very helpful video. Do you mainly use one lens for your prom sessions and what lens do you use??? Thanks.
Yep! We use our 50 mm
Thanks so much! Y’all are amazing! Xoxo

All great tips!
I just purchased a cannon EF 85mm 1.8 USM Lens. Would this be good for prom pics? Groups and couples?? Outdoors. Setting suggestions?? 😊

@@esquared.photography what platform are you using to deliver the shoot, and what platform do you use if they want to order without the watermark?
@@SylinaXoxo hey! We use Shootproof for all of this. Check out our most recent video all about it!
How do you place the sun? Are they all back lit?
We always make sure the sun is behind them
@@esquared.photography awesome thanks
What settings for the group ones???
What camera settings do you use for these photos?
I see you girls don’t do frequency separation. If someone asks to retouch a bit more the face skin, would you charge them?

When you deliver the pictures, do you place a Watermark on your pictures?
We do! And then it disappears when they download if the purchase digitals.

How do you deal with sessions early in the day. In harsh daylight?
Hey!! We do our very best to find shaded areas. Especially open shade or if we have to shoot in the sun we make sure shadows are in front of them.
How much do you charge for a session as such?
How do you price these sessions? Per couple?
$20/person :)
What about the parents?
Do you charge for the mini prom sessions? If so what do you charge?
$20/person
