I am a Maker.. This is the first video of yours I've seen and was so impressed with your project but your personality. You're cool brother! Subscribed!! Live simply and work with your hands~ Cheers!
Another Idea wold be to mount an adjustable desk lamp to the ceiling. As they are designed to hold themselves in whatever shape, and are fairly cheap, it might also work.
love this channel. fully believe in what you do and hope people are as inspire as I am. I'm a high school student trying to make my way in life and I love that you want people to create and make stuff. good luck on the channel!
This is such a great idea!!! I just started my channel and have only put out a few videos but I'm definitely going to build this (maybe on a track system too? 🤔) see how much that improves my footage! Thanks man!
This is awesome! Congratulations on a job coming to fruition and working as planned! I love hearing you wax philosophical during your videos too. I agree so much with your ideology. I love that people are contributing as well. I feel like that's an important part of the movement; being thankful for other people's efforts and encouraging people through sharing of resources.
See this is why you are awesome: you build stuff yourself while giving inspiring words, clever solutions (welding that bolt :D), and actual advice. Thank you!
"It works better than I thought it would." You know what, me too buddy, me too. This is me when ever I take a test and don't fail, when I thought I would.
You inspired my whole channel! Sorry for advertising myself, but you started talking about inspiration and i just felt like i had to share. Love your videos👍👍👍
That's a great idea, and I'm glad it worked out in the end! Also, nice editing, i'm sure re-positioning and editing took you more time than to build it haha I like that you manage to think of quick solutions to the problems you face in a non-traditional method, like making the bolt longer. anyway, great work man! Hopefully that will make it easier for you to push out more videos :)
Jairus, you have some good videos. This was a great video. And I really appreciated how you clearly communicated your motivation. Made me think about a Renee Brown quote: vulnerability is the start of creativity.
This is actually extremely helpful, I'm currently drawing up plans for something like this. I had that crazy idea of starting my own youtubes channel next week, I've been moving things in my shop to have a "filming corner." Or I was going to just use my shop stool for my cameraman because procrastination!
Only problem I can see with this is that if the camera is just being held up by friction between the three bits of wood at the top than possibly eventually it could wear out and fall.
Thank you for sharing! Question: would pvc pipe be a good alternative with the right hardware? I need an overhead mount for my studio but wood seems a little bulky for my space.
You know how much it would actually cost to buy the thing he's making? Actually its between $70 - $1900. I just got a whole bunch of ads for ceiling camera mounts after watching this video.

The shear joy this man exudes when he finishes a build is fantastic

Ryan Herh 100% agreed
I've been hunting for a dental exam light to adapt to this same purpose. Maybe it's time i just make my own! Great build!
You could have use some springs to help with it holding the weight and stop it from drooping. Kinda like those one lights.
LOVED the message of this video. Keep doing what you're doing.

This would be so great for overhead jewelry spinner shots!
i freaked out when you longened the screws! Youre amazing!

You’re awesome! Thank you for showing me how to do this! I love doing projects and am so thankful for people like you to show me how!
I recently bought a welding machine and it made me laugh of joy when you extended the bolt ;D thanks for the nice videos!
This rules SO MUCH! This is the first video I’ve seen of yours, and I immediately subscribed.

Glad the Hacksmith sent me here.
Greek Gadget didn't send me, But I think this collab is Totally worth your time.
Building one currently, inspiried by you and several others. Figure it'll be a good video for one of my first, then used in many. Thanks a ton!
Love the ingenuity, Pinching pennies and getting shit done in style... not as easy as you make it look.
Love the idea. I might use the concept for my own studio. Thanks a lot.
great job I wish you all the best
“Good enough for government work” LMAO 🤣😂. Dude, you are so right. 🍻
GREAT VID
Not going to lie, the most important part for me was the camera mount part which you kind of just glossed over but very entertaining video man.
Won't everything loosen up pretty quickly?
Smessies Only time will tell! But probably.
Pretty impressive nonetheless ! It reminds me of the self-made setup Casey Neistat had (MKBHD did a tour of his "office" ). Anyways.. keep it up !
I recon the nylock nuts will be enough, if not you can always tighten another nut onto the back of it to make it stronger
Just use a bit of locktite
The wood will wear and compress, that's the problem here, not metal or nylon parts.
hey jairus, i have a suggestion, why not make a brute jump pack
i only watch u for entertainment and I'm probably not gonna change it. huge thanks to the camera donators btw
Thank you very much. I am using a couple of your ideas. Greetings from Colombia.
