Love the guide brother! Long time tank player just returning to game. Definitely picked up some pointers. I've been debating going grit ward vs running frigid dawn for the enchanted ward/elemental ward combo. I realize grit ward is like a 2 for 1 but if caught between attacks it's as if you have neither. As a leaping strike enjoyer, The choice to drop shield rush or defenders resolve was always a dilemma. Some opt not not run leaping but being able to catch runners or get out of a sticky situation is pretty clutch. I do love shield rush for the huge fortify, weaken, and slow but I can see the appeal of dropping it for defenders especially running the perk. You got me re-thinking alot of things. Love the vids man keep up the good work!
I am playing heavy Flail/VG tank-support :D Gives good teamfight with oblivion, vortex, smite; CC with trip and scream; antiheal with plague crits + scream I play 350 con, 200 str, 60 foc with stacked Grit Ward + Freedom on armor for living, cause if I am not stunned - I can hit and press flail buttons to have grit all the time

Not sure I understand what you mean about too much magnify. You can have all magnify gear, and if you're only using 2 stats (Str/Con), you can split evenly between them. It just takes a little finesse toward the end, but you can balance 2 stats with any amount of magnify. If you have an odd number of attribute points, you may have to leave one on the table unspent so as to not cause magnify to kick in on that one odd point.

I admittedly am not a magnify expert and was turned off by how it worked for me with the few sets that I own. However, I understand that those named sets are very accessible to people who don't have max crafting and can be a great fill in set. It was changed with the season update from a flat lump sum to 8% damage stacking 3x. Unfortunately the runeglass variant is bugged and will only give you 1x stack so stick with the normal jasper to receive it's full benefits until that's fixed.
Im playing tank since day 1 too and we have almost same build ,habilities and playstyle.... instead i took shriking fotification in my armor ,longer fortification in my amulet and fort when 50%hp and more health , this amulet is bis for tanking
Acquiring BIS gear is the easiest it's ever been since the introduction of seal crafting with named weapons/armor at the kiln. Even more so if you have max crafting in armor/weapons. Invest in your crafting skills it will pay off in the long run.
I bought one piece of gear for very cheap on TP, crafted the rest. 4 seals, 3 inductors. Seals took a few weeks but we got there eventually. Investing in my crafting/refining skills was the best decision I ever made in this game as I don't have to rely on rng or others for gear.@@exen1815
Attacks deal +14% weapon damage as Ice/nature. This means light attacks, heavy attacks and abilities will deal additional damage as those elemental types. You can see the damage from attunement as they have a snowflake symbol for frost and leaf symbol for nature. In short attunement = more damage, and being elemental means it bypasses any physical gems/mitigation. A well rounded approach to extra damage.
Yes but I will also be grabbing that set to replace the elemental aversion set I posted in the video. Ele aversion/enchanted ward is great vs ranged comps.
I am a returning playing looking to play something different than FS/IG I spent so much time on in the past. Starting from scratch, is there anything in the Kiln you suggest using to at least get a scuffed version going? I really want to give this a go and put some time in with melee.
Welcome back. The Syncretic set is a great choice as it is the easiest to farm. It has Grit ward/Slash conditioning and you can choose to put shirking heals or invigorated on it. Slash conditioning is great as you will have absorption against 3 of the most common melee weapons in the GS, GA and SnS. Slash conditioning now also mitigates bleeds which acts as a pseudo vigor.

As far as I know it's only leeching. We still get 8 other pieces of sustain boosted by Ankh. The only artifact I would change to is the Ocean's Peace but that looks like a S5 release.
Artifact earring that gives 2% health, 2 stamina, and 2 mana per second. Potion cooldowns are increased by 75% is the downside. Was on the database but has been removed and rumored to come out in S5. @@grim3r33fer
Have you considered 400/200 split or even a 350/50/200? I have been running 350 main damage attribute + 50 focus + 200 con. Damage feels much better and the 50 focus is a free refresh + mini-ankh which frees me up to run other artifacts like Endless Thirst (think a lot of people are sleeping on this one).
Hey brother, I sure have. When I face the firing squads I have a full ele aversion set and go 400/200 to burst them down. I tried the 50 focus spec when Ankh was first introduced with flail to maximize the sustain. I think with the nerf to leeching with Ankh ET and BD become more viable but I still think there's too much Ankh offers for this build specifically. Barring any future nerfs to Ankh I would only swap out for that sweet sweet Ocean's earring whenever that comes out.
his whole build revolves around gritward and having grit. his 5x gritward perks r kinda wasted if not a 300 con build...u wud in that case want other defensiv perks
@@MrProbstandrew You'd swap grit for enchanted ward or another defensive perk. Personally find grit ward not great in PvP since so much of my time is spent not hitting something and thus not having grit.
Shirking heals is still great as 7s is not as bad as 10s (I didn't mind it either way). With the dodge nerf as long as you are using dodges sparingly it is not noticeable. If you drain your stamina it takes about 3s to get your stamina back, SH can only be activated every 7s so this is not an issue. With that being said we need to be even more selective about using our dodges but other than getting out of heavy hitting attacks, cc's or gap closing we should be using our stamina for our tower shield instead.
In my opinion Mjölnir is a 1 perk hammer since Mighty Gavel and the unique perk on Mjölnir are very underwhelming. Ref move is ok but the WH tree already has plenty of cdr. The redeemable qualities on Mjölnir are the lightning damage that can bypass physical mitigation on enemies and the 1 perk you can craft onto it. Many WH mains have tested it's damage and it's underwhelming as well compared to a normal WH. If you are a Mighty Gavel enjoyer by all means feel free to use it - just not for me and our build.
SnS+Spear is very viable, fortifying perforate makes you very tanky, enfeebling skewer weaken makes you tanky by making your opponents hit for less and leeching cyclone is a great sustain tool. The whole kit has a lot of built in stamina regen so you can chain dodges+abilities or use all that stamina for blocking when outnumbered. @@Jameshrooms
Yes, I think it has potential to be an alternate bis set for ranged/ele damage with great play vs melee if you slot SH on it as enchanted ward can cover melee auto attacks as well.
Vigor is in the same perk bucket as invigorated so if you're going to swap it out it would be for that. Comparatively however, SH acts as a pseudo vigor as the heal can gain back the life loss from various dots.

Yes, we regain stamina from the exhausted state in about 3s. If we are using dodge every 7s for SH (unlikely) we have plenty of time to get it back from being exhausted. Dodges should be used sparingly anyways as blocking takes less stamina and mitigates damage as well.

Yes hearty is still very good as more stamina = returning stamina quicker but if you value more damage there is a world where you can choose invig punishment over hearty since we don't get a a triple dodge either way.
i just restarted new world and how hard is it to obtain this gear without crafting because i checked the market and things are like 25k but have none of the skills yours had

It's an end game "BIS or Best In Slot" build but you can make or find 2 perk pieces pretty easily however getting all the pieces will take some time. Work your way there slowly. If you are doing OPR or Influence races where you'll have healers the Syncretic set which is very easy to farm is a fantastic set for beginners that can take you to the end game. I'm currently using it for OPR's where Shirking Heals isn't getting as much value since there are plenty of healers there. @@SlackerSenpai
Bad is an overstatement, the nerf to leeching is barely noticeable but if that's a deal breaker for you endless thirst or blooddrinker are both great options.
Doesn't affect our build, shirking heals is every 7s that dodge stamina nerf makes us wait about 3s. This nerf will impact non shield heavy classes more.

It can but it isn't optimal as Shirking Heals is a PVP only perk. I use the Azoth Crystal set for PVE as it has enchanted ward + Refreshing: nwdb.info/db/item/heavychest_azothcrystal
and thats the issue - tanks shouldnt have that much offense.. s4 will even be better for tanks with block changes.. guess player count will go lower and lower.

You can go 300/300 or 200/200/200 with all magnify if you want.

What's a good alternative to WH? I personally like the SnS, but not that fond of WH's movements. Are Flail or Spear a good alternative?
Greatsword, Greataxe, Spear, and flail are all great options. Experiment with each and see which weapons gel with your playstyle, you can't go wrong!

Yes, a few thousand HP all said and done with Ankh magnifying it. Not a night and day difference but every little bit helps!

I'm currently using it for OPR's where Shirking Heals isn't getting as much value since there are plenty of healers there. @@SlackerSenpai
For me Ankh is bad with the last nerf, I prefer Endless Thirst, who make crazy potions.
Bad is an overstatement, the nerf to leeching is barely noticeable but if that's a deal breaker for you endless thirst or blooddrinker are both great options.

Doesn't affect our build, shirking heals is every 7s that dodge stamina nerf makes us wait about 3s. This nerf will impact non shield heavy classes more.

Maybe when one worthwhile comes around. Both the Butcher and Mjolner pigeonholed us into using two skills that are non optimal for our build.

U craft the Armor or Buying?
Bought one for very cheap on TP, crafted the rest. 4 seals, 3 inductors. Seals took a few weeks but we got there eventually. Investing in my crafting/refining skills was the best decision I ever made in this game as I don't have to rely on rng or others for gear.
Does this work for pve?
It can but it isn't optimal as Shirking Heals is a PVP only perk. I use the Azoth Crystal set for PVE as it has enchanted ward + Refreshing:

Thanks for the comment, the build is indeed very tanky and can kill as well ;)
and thats the issue - tanks shouldnt have that much offense.. s4 will even be better for tanks with block changes.. guess player count will go lower and lower.
