this dude is so funny!!😂😂 i’m looking at buying a user 2013 eos komfort and came to watch and informational video and came across this beauty of a review video and got some comedy to help with not being bored of all the information i’m getting👍🏽👍🏽😂
I love my EOS and if you can find one used and in quality condition they are fantastic. I bought my 2012 used with 50k miles for 9,000. Awesome car to drive for the price. You can expect to put money into maintenance but its hell of a lot cheaper than other cabriolet models.
11:03 That windshield deflector alone totally sold me to the Eos. I don't think there's any other four-seater convertible or cabriolet that can do that.
@@PikaShortzz Ive had it for a month now and it is amazing! Im addicted to the top down experience. (2013 lux/2 owners/30000 miles/$18,000 including tax and title)
@Melanie C. Not really. I heard people having issues with leaky roofs, but as long as you make sure the hardtop closes all of the way as well as spreading vaseline every month along the rim of the hardtop, you should be good.
I drive my 2008 eos every day. I take good care of all the seals and the drains I have no leak problems and it’s a great daily driver. And it is much cooler to drive with the top is down. Both literally and figuratively
Steve Balee - I’m looking at a used (2 previous owners) 2012 EOS Komfort with 138K miles on it. A local VW mechanic told me I should pass. Apparently, there was a chain tension issue on those engines and he said with that mileage, there could be problems. So, hard to know what to do. I know these German made cars aren’t cheap to maintain. Sounds like you’ve owned yours since new, which is best since you’ve always done proper maintenance. A used one is always risky.
13:01 "You can stuff a couple of Canadians" in the back seats - I have heard this saying more than once. Is it because Canadians are usually slimmer where as Americans are ahem... on the wide size?
I really like this car. Love the retractable hardtop and moonroof. I'm looking at buying a 2013 being sold locally. Guess the lack of cargo space with the top down might be an issue, but I can live with that. The drivetrain is great and I've always been a VW fanboy anyway. My first car was a 1971 VW Beetle. Wish I still had it...
Not a great commentary history..but jokes are okay I guess. It probably would HV been a better idea to first do some study upon the car before attempting to do a review. Overall it was nice to see the features and figure them out yourself😂. Personally I viewed and test drove the 2008 manual turbo eos back this year. The car was in decent condition except the interior was not detailed and the The interior and exterior had some cosmetic issues due to a previous accident . Repairs were needed, however there were no major issues in performance. Some rust in the interior was noted. But due to cosmetic work that was needed and repairs of exterior the car was overpriced. Needed new tires as well. In my opinion the Volkswagen EOS is a nice looking car to drive both w top up or down. It's all about what you like in a cars look. I like the design of the hood and the nice looking chrome grill . Love the headlights and fog lights as they are set on the front of the car. Side mirrors are cool and luminous.love the red tail lights that Accentuate the rear of the car, very sporty and luxurious. The car is indeed very impressive looking when the top is down as well as when it is coming down. This is the greatest feature on the car the way it TRANSFORMS FROM A LITTLE COUPE INTO A LUXURIOUS CONVERTIBLE. I HV NOT SEEN A MAN, WOMAN, OR CHILD WHO WAS NOT IMPRESSED W THIS AMAZING TRANSFORMATION OF THIS VEHICLE FROM COUPE TO CONVERTIBLE. IT HANDLES VERY WELL ON THE FREEWAY AND THE TURBO ENGINE GIVES QUALITY PERFORMANCE. I also believe the name EOS WAS PERFECT FOR THIS AMAZING LITTLE CONVERIBLE. I BELIEVE IT SUITES A WOMAN DRIVER BETTER THAN A MAN. More of a girly looking car. Her SZ and features are very soft and sexy. The EOS is in my opinion the finest looking convertible ever made top up or down.. 😍 AMAZING!!!
Looks way better with the top down, We have owned soo many VWs every one of them a fantastic experience. One of the few brands I will buy without much hesitation. Very little drama with our Nazi people's car.
I hear these cars have chain tension issues with the engine. I was going to buy a used one 2012 Komfort with 137,000 miles on it and a local VW mechanic told me I shouldn’t and stay away from it. What do you think? Do you have any suggestions for a used EOS?
My friend bought an Eos because she wanted a cute car. The thing was a technological nightmare. It could have been a cool car if it was more performance-oriented. Then again it would have cost as much as an Audi convertible.
In short a EOS = Hard Top Convertible Golf Just like the Del Sol = Hard Top Roadster Civic They both share the same platform as the more mass produced sibling.
If you don't like the top, go buy the Audi TTS! .. yes the roof is the swiss army knife of roofs and the main attraction (and expense) of this Volkswagen. Expensive for a Volkswagen, but not for an Audi (its platform brethren). When VW discontinued the EOS (as part of the Dieselgate fallout) I was surprised that they didn't port over this roof option to the Audi TTS; seems a waste of the engineering and the tooling not to have this marvel of a roof still in its products. But making good decisions was not part of VW culture at the time and seems to still be a problem.
Very good price for what it is, very good looking 4 seats hard top convertible, with economic fuel engine, comfortable for 2 more peoples in the back, and even having cup holders... And decent trunk space for a convertible
No issues but keep in mind that the base model (Komfort) lacks a backup camera and the GPS does not have traffic integration. The higher trim has them. Also keep in mind that the back seats is not roomy. But if you don't plan to have anyone in the back seat, or they are thin people, they you are good. That part can be said about any convertible. Good luck.
I hear the VW engines had a chain tension issue... any major issues? I was thinking of buying a used 2012 Komfort model with 137K miles on it. A local VW guy told me I shouldn’t.
I feel in love with the EOS at a car show and thought "Oh I want that car!". I test drove one...along with a Mercedes C class and a BWM 3 series. The EOS felt very cheap...cheap plastic everywhere. It was very uncomfortable and hard to see out of with the top up. The hardtop convertible seemed like a problem waiting to happen. I went ahead and bought the Mercedes. That was nearly 15 years old and I still drive that Mercedes. My neighbor who had an EOS drove it for maybe 3 years before the thing started to have major problems with the top and the engine. I still wanted a convertible though....so I went ahead and bought a Beetle convertible as my fun car. Not the nasty New Beetle...I bought a real one from 1978.
i know what you mean, i see this version as a rabbit (golf here in europe) thats why i prefer the old style front end that says EOS only and cant be confused with any other vw, but from the front this could be mistaken for a golf scirocco or a passat, the old style front looks more sporty & sexy, this style front is too boring for a sporty car.
Plain looking car, on the outside. Nicer on the inside, but not worth 40G to me! I haven't owned a vw since I was a teenager. At the beginning of this video, you were struggling to find something nice to say about the car, Bill. And I don't blame you one bit. Not much to say about it and that's probably why VW stopped making it. The test drive was the only positive thing about this car and video.
I prefer Eos honestly, Megane CC is more economic, but it's worthless in the backseats (at least carry kids) but this one can carry 2 adults perfectly... I dear to say than must be the best 4 seat convertible than can affort, besides it's a nice detail see a backseats cup holders

There were a lot of them at one time.....but they haven't lasted.
