Wassup man I'm nate I'm 23 years old and I just started 6 months ago doing remodeling and handyman work now I'm getting into building from scratch and I watch your videos all day long , thank you for teaching me.
I put this video off for some months until I had the time to watch, analize, and understand your mentioned drawings. I have to say you're very knowledgeable and astute. I highly appreciate that you made this video Sir.
Mr. Cortina, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to you and your staff. As for myself or any individuals who planning change of career in engineering, Electric Engineering, Construction Engineering. Give them an opportunity on what's best for them College students or Graduates or non- Graduates. I've learn just viewing your video. I just want to say Thank You, very much. Continue on what you do Best. And that is Texas Barndominium. "God Bless"
As a relatively recent subscriber, I've probably watched about 20 videos of Erik's now and this is the best episode I've watched so far!! And that's saying a lot :) Awesome info in here Erik for a non-pro like myself who's going the through the process of learning all I can to possibly GC my own Barndo build in north Georgia. Appreciated the time you took to start with the simple foundation review. I've experience as a PM in commercial datacenter construction but have always spent more time on the wires, switches and components then the foundations, walls and ceilings. Looking forward to watching and learning more from you! If you know any great builders in my region who might be interested in working on a passive barndo with concrete interior perimeter walls, lmk :) Hard to find good folks. Cheers!
Erik, eres un orgullo para nosotros los hispanos, I really appriciate the time you take to share your knowlege. I am on my way to becoming a GC thanks brother
Really enjoyed this I am currently in class learning blueprint reading and it is tough with covid learning it through a computer so greatly appreciate you taking time out for this!
Erik , Thank you for the great video! Do you by chance have a video on how to determine the height of stem walls? That's s one of the things I always have a hard time to determine.
Erik, Thanks for the explanations. Building in the rolling hills will be a challenge. There are many obstacles to building on slopes and hard rock areas but it looks like you have a great understanding of what's needed. Hopefully we can come to an agreement on something for the future. Thanks again!!
This is the best video tutorial on reading plans anywhere on the internet! Is it possible to continue with more rebar, additional rebar, and shop drawing explanations? Thank you so much! This video has helped me considerably. 🙏
Who have the field experience, its a piece of cake what you explain but who are new here to know what exactly each number and details means, there you are cutting the corners and leaving them blind.
I have a sidewalk to inspect tomorrow and I’m new to rebar, I’m sure it will be mesh, I know I’m looking for chairs and spacing as well as all my ACI concrete testing…. What else should I look for???
One problem is various plans on a Job: Bidding Plans, Drawings changes. Making Shure only the latest are on the job. like the flat work has the newest change and the price agreed;
If you have your select fill on your slope and need to extend your beam down another 12”,the other side where you didn’t neeed to add dirt, would that be considered grade and only have to go down 27” on your beam since that 27” would cover 12” into existing grade?
Hi Erik Manuel Ramirez from Santa Rosa CA. would you teach us please in my plans say vertical high 8'1 1/8 at the same time say floor 332.3' plate 330.5' how do i covert this measurements . thank you
I watched your second one first; so, I guess that I'm learning in the right order? I learned that rain is and isn't a laughing matter, if that makes any sense?
I'm making a guess that the full foot dimension living quarters includes an additional 3" on the length but not width, are you robbing from the porches for the metal ?
I'm researching how to do a barndominium. I'm going to act as my own contractor, hiring each sub directly and doing as much as I can on my own so I get the most house for the available budget. So, I have to glean all of the expertise I can from everywhere I can.
In the process of building Dog Kennel Shelter , 20 x 40 Metal building currently reviewing the engineering plans, Any Tips will greatly be appreciated.
We are soon to build... paying land off tomorrow. 36 acres. Wanted you but found out that you dont cover my area. Southeast texas. Can u reccomend someone trustworthy???
Thanks Erik, I am not in the building trade but can use some of your expertise and my limited mechanical drawing training to guide me in future projects. One is completing a concrete boat ramp in Sargent , Tx. just off the inter-coastal waterway. I plan to use some galvanized rod and galv. cattle panels even though epoxy coated is supposed to be the best to fight corrosion . One question, how can you tell the GRADE of structural RE-BAR ? Is it stamped on the bar like the size ? J K
We built a schouse. House inside of shop. But are gonna build again. But we will need a builder. Don't want to do it again. 1300sq ft. 2 bedroo. 2 bath open living, separate bedroom and mudroom
