For me and my buddy, being athletes that lived in a vastly white state, this film captured a lot of feelings we could empathize with. From people talking about our bodies, testing us, oggling us, pandering (i voted for Obama twice!) and grimey mfs who masked their intentions with a smile. I don't think it was perfect, but I like how Jordan Peele connects details and scenes and doesn't waste shots. Plenty of allegory and room for interpretation. It wasn't perfect, but it was genuine in the uneasiness that it created and I found it to be well written. Okay I'll stop being gay, I know us dawgs got short attention spans.
Same, I thought it was a bit overrated but not as shitty as Shane was going off about. I think that while he's right that the themes were too on the nose, I don't think they were quite as simplistic as he was making them out to be.
I thought it was better than I anticipated and that’s why it was successful. I watched it opening weekend with no expectations. It sounds like Shane and Matt were told it was good beforehand which can change your experience… the later Jordan Pele movies have not been as good though
When I watched this movie I thought of it as like the Malcom X quote "The White liberal is the worst enemy to America and the worst enemy to the Black man." So it made me laugh in that regard. I didn't take it as an all white people thing just the ally that is not truly an ally, but this also came out about 3 years before I ever heard the term "white guilt" so I wasn't looking for it.
Yeah, I took it the same way, but after watching the Jordan Peele Twilight Zone. There's no ambiguity in there. There's literally only one episode that isn't about woke politics in there.
It’s hilarious that Jordan Peele can just be openly racist against white ppl, stating he’ll never cast a white person as a lead in his movies. Nobody gives af about being in his weird experimental films 😂😂. And the Departed is one of if not the best movie ever made imo.

Like I said, nothing groundbreaking but solid cinematography, kickass soundtrack, and if you didn’t like the acting (Daniel Kaluuya is definitely weak but Lakeith Stanfield and Jesse Plemons absolutely kill it) fair enough, personal differences. @@superherocollege I found Lakeith Stanfield to be absolutely HORRIBLE in that movie. Judas, much like 'Many Saints of Newark', suffered the fate of being greenlit, or rewritten to fit into the 'BLM IS SO HOT RITE NOW~!!" mindset of Hollywood zeitgeist in Summer 2020-Summer 2021. And both movies were profoundly shattier than I had hoped. Especially MSoN. I actually liked Kaluuya's performance in BJ, but thought Lakeef Stanfield was laughably bad. I literally laughed at the scene where he is getting questioned in the car. His acting is hilariously bad there. And the 'slam poetry' segment, is as cringe as it gets.

The point of the movie is to mock left wing racism, the difference from right wing racism being that, while right wing bigots treat disaffected groups like animals, left wing bigots treat them like children. This movie laughs at the type of people who'd say how brave Jordan Peele is for telling his story.
Honestly yeah, I remember the dad saying "I'd vote for Obama a third time if I could!"... 😅 It's ironic because all these people giving it 100%'s are really sounding like I the white people in this movie! XDXDXD It was "ok" you can see the twist with the girlfriend coming from the first trailer.

I don’t think the movie was amazing, but it wasn’t as bad as Shane makes it out to be. I think he’s more upset at the marketing and the huge social media response it got. It was the fact that, at the time, people were saying it was the greatest/bravest horror film ever made because it tackled the real monsters in society… *White People*. I almost didn’t watch it because of how much “white people bad” came with it, but when I finally did I was still able to get into the movie and enjoy it as an ok indie film.
I'm not gonna lie, as a South Asian guy who's watched Get Out and loved it, my take away was not "Black guy good, Whitie Bad". It felt more like a commentary on the craziest type of left leaning white People like Charlize Theron who adopted a 7 yo black boy from South Africa in 2012 and brainwashed him into a girl, he now walks around in dresses, real yikes sh*t (you can go look it up and see for youself). The black community at the time was on her @ss for this and everyone openly saw this as child abuse yet she gets away with it, really scary stuff. At the same time I totally understand where Matt and Shane are coming from, If I was white I'd hate probably hate Get Out too. It's just one of those movies where the interpretation comes down to the lived experience of the viewer. I remember Patrice O Neil once said Fight Club was a lame ass white guy movie and he hated it, even though it's widely regarded as a cult classic today and gets ALOT of praise for it's theme and message.
@@Maniahg yeah, it’s more about what you’re taking in before you see it than the movie itself. I forgot about the Charlize Theron thing and your take on the movie is one I hadn’t considered before. It’s taken me years to find someone who agrees that Get Out was shit. It was an amateur film in every way. And on top of that, the pandering to one side of the aisle was furiously blinding.

To even compare the departed to get out is an unironically funny joke in & of itself 😂
As a Mexican American filmmaker it’s so refreshing to hear people clown this movie because I thought it was average at best when I left the theater, but was so annoyed how critics alike kept jerking this movie off all the way to the Oscars. It is no way one of the best films I’ve ever seen in my life, so the height that was built for this movie is beyond me. I fucking hate it.
u know its guilt when the departed gets 91 and get out gets 100 😂
Satire doesn't have to be counter-cultural, it has to be counter-whatever it's satirizing.
Yea and Get Out isnt counter anything, it came out in the middle of woke culture being the big fad. It was as in-line as it could be which is why its so boring but racist people see it and it blows their minds. Satire rn would be Get Out with blacks trying to take a white mans body. GL getting that movie off the ground.
@@californiarollwithramensea8220get out is making fun of “woke” people. the family are left leaning democrats who virtue signal throughout. a common pattern here is people shitting on the political commentary yet it flying over there head, shit kills me.

I mean, there’s commentary in the movie about being fake-woke, no? The fact that she was acting like she was concerned about the police at the beginning then the reveal that they were doing that whack stuff underneath the facade gave me that vibe but maybe I’m mistaken lol
no you are completely right. like one of the only people in this comment section who actually understood what you were watching.
I was rolling my eyes in the first scene with black dude walking through what is a super nice white neighborhood where there is no crime yet we are suppose to believe a black dude walking down that street is scared and the. Gets abducted by a skinny white kid in a Porsche lol ok right
i was legit standing in a track suit in my ghetto apartment microwaving beans when shane said that. i hate myself
I thought I was the only one that thought that movie was trash. You can figure out what's going on after the first 20 minutes. And they nailed it with the black friend just doing stereotypical b.s. "black" stuff that all the stereotypical black dudes do in movies.
Get Out was the biggest piece of hamfisted garbage I've ever seen. And now the horror world is plagued by Jordan Peele and his bullshit.
I liked Get out and I like the dawgz now lets all join hands across America.

Get Out is the most overrated film. It's just a black version of "The Stepford Wives".
It's just the black version of the travelling pants of ya ya sisterhood
When I watched this movie I thought of it as like the Malcom X quote "The White liberal is the worst enemy to America and the worst enemy to the Black man." So it made me laugh in that regard. I didn't take it as an all white people thing just the ally that is not truly an ally, but this also came out about 3 years before I ever heard the term "white guilt" so I wasn't looking for it.
Yeah, I took it the same way, but after watching the Jordan Peele Twilight Zone. There's no ambiguity in there.
There's literally only one episode that isn't about woke politics in there.
7 years ago Shane spent thirty dollars on a movie ticket, got some snacks and was out of $. Today he could probably buy the movie theater.
peepop, pleaseeee im begging you post the WW2 story from the episode Fire Tornadoes. it starts within the first 15 mins of it

It’s hilarious that Jordan Peele can just be openly racist against white ppl, stating he’ll never cast a white person as a lead in his movies. Nobody gives af about being in his weird experimental films 😂😂. And the Departed is one of if not the best movie ever made imo.
He’s half white
@@hellohello5301 he’s openly stated a white person will never be the lead in any of his films. Take that to mean whatever you want but sounds pretty racist to me.
Matt does so many 180’s to match what Shane thinks so much.
The original ending Jordan peele wrote was the cop shooting him. But he thought it was too traumatic for the black audience.
He was saving it for that Twilight Zone episode where a cop shoots a black dude on 30 different occasions.
@jimjamauto I hated that episode more than Shane hates Get Out. I thought Get Out was at least interesting, it was violence through other means, and turned social pressures into body horror, but the episode of black mirror was awful.
@@Adam-hp5hj I thought that episode was aight, it felt more classic Twilight Zone than the rest. Only thing is that it tried connecting to real life events which is gross. However Peele is a dingus for saying one thing and doing exactly the opposite for big moneys
It would’ve been a better movie if that happened. The ending is one of the weakest parts.
There is no more slasher movies that we had in the 80s and 90s Freddy Jason, Mike Myers, etc. Because women are now the consumers, and they don’t care about that, they want to see paranormal child movies. I hope good movies can come back one day.
Had a friend claim "Judas and the Black Messiah" is an "amazing movie". That shit SUCKED. Acting, plot, slam poetry? I'd rather watch Tyler Perry crossdress.
If only we had known while watching TP chainsaw that couch in half...that we were witnessing the pinnacle of black cinema.
I mean is it Godfather 2? Fuck no. But you gotta admit there’s some good ass scenes in that movie plus an incredibly interesting historical story. Like politics and everything asides there are cool moments in that movie, shit that makes you not only get hype but also scenes I found generally interesting. and while I think Get Out is overrated, Judas and the Black Messiah was pretty solid. Like I said, nothing groundbreaking but solid cinematography, kickass soundtrack, and if you didn’t like the acting (Daniel Kaluuya is definitely weak but Lakeith Stanfield and Jesse Plemons absolutely kill it) fair enough, personal differences. All love my dawg, feel free to ignore me (drunk at 2am)
@@superherocollege I found Lakeith Stanfield to be absolutely HORRIBLE in that movie. Case in point, if you ever watch it again, the scene where he is in the car talking to the girl about 'snitch' and the what nots. Absolutely horrific attempt at acting. But ya, different strokes. I thought it was overrated as shit, because of the 'BLM' era, 'needing' a movie like that. To each their own.

@@jorgemartinez42069 Hm, well recent 'big' movies that I thought were in all ways 'better' than that trash, across most all audiences? Top Gun, Joker, Dune.
As far as more artsy flicks that were much better in the same time frame? Minari, Devil All the Time, Nomadland. Probably in that same order.

This movie laughs at the type of people who'd say how brave Jordan Peele is for telling his story.
the point is that jordan peele's jewish overlords wanted another "white ppl evil" movie

I don’t think the movie was amazing, but it wasn’t as bad as Shane makes it out to be. I think he’s more upset at the marketing and the huge social media response it got. On its own Get Out is a decent horror movie that makes race a little too important.
As a white person it felt a little weird. Like being “called out” for something you didn’t do or feeling like the crazy white people in the movie was meant to represent all of us.
