I would like to say thank you. Your short and very detailed video saved me hundreds of dollars by making the adjustments myself versus calling a local door company. Thank you again Jim!!!!! May God bless you!!!!!! 🙏🏾😁
Big thumbs up! Many many thanks! You fixed the problem we were having!! I had put weather strips on the bottom of the door. I thought it was a problem with sensors until I watched your video. You fixed our problem and saved us hundreds of dollars. Thanks again!!
Thank you for making this video!!!!!! After 22 yrs of owning this house I was too lazy to buy the seal. I'd come home to oak tree leaves in the garage and have to sweep constantly. Well I finally got the seal. $18.06 @ the Depot. After installing it I still had about 3/8" gap on the sides. After watching your video I adjusted the downward knob 1/4" turn and BAM. No light comes through. The seal is still pliable in the center so I know it's not being compressed enough to cause a tear. What was I thinking going so long without a seal?!?!? That was plain dumb on my part!!!!!! Thanks again. NO MORE LEAVES TO SWEEP!!!!! WOO-HOO!!
Thanks for the simple but informative video. The door has been wonky the last few days. Even after adjusting just how, it didn’t want to go all the way down. Finally stayed down after a few attempts. 🤞🏻
I have a manual pull down garage door approximately 12’ wide. There is a slight gap across the bottom seal. I can manually force the door down, but it will not stay down. What adjustment can be done so that the door seal closes tighter? The door has two torsion type springs, one for each roller. I recently replaced the bottom door seal. The new seal doesn’t quite touch the floor unless I manually force the door downward, but like I said, it will not stay down.
Did you figure it out? I saw another video where he adjusted the arm that connects to the door. It is joined together with several bolts and there are holes along it's length that can be adjusted by disconnecting and rejoining with the bolts.
I would like to ask if there is no problem in opening the door of my house, but it seems that there is no strength to close the door with the remote control.
@@NextLevelAutoDiagnostics thanks!! Ya I found a couple other detailed videos on this. I actually believe my problem is the floor slab on one side has settled. Everything is plumb and true as far as I can tell. All geased and cleaned up and working fine. I replaced all the broken hinges last summer, so hopefully all good. I will look into replacing the gasket or seal along the bottom next.
Hi, can this be done to make major adjustments? As of right now my door is in the open position and only closing about a foot before coming back up. I just replaced the chain drive gear.
I ended up having someone come out and take a look at it, guy quoted me 1250$ for a new unit and strut on sagging part of door (and labor)…me and my old man got it running like a dream for less than 300$ after about 3 hours. Had to buy a new unit but install was super easy and just reenforced the door with 4ft 3/4” angled 20ga steel.
@@getitdonehomerepair I know $1250 is ridiculous 🙄 If you can do that, I would quit my day job and only fix garage doors lol - No need for a contractor to rip people off like that! Cheers ......
Help. My garage door pushes down against pavement when i press open, then pull back up two foot and stops there.. leaving a gap😢. If i press open again it will do the same thing pushes down against pavement then pull back up two foot n stops😢 The metal arm bended now😢
I do that but when the garage touch the ground, it automatically raise up. Is that mean I can not lower down the garage door any further? How to handle this? Do I need to replace the seal at the bottom of garage door?
Yeah, because having a power garage door opener, just makes no sense when it’s pouring down rain snowing or hailing. I mean, who has time to get out of the car and open or shut the garage door when they’re trying to get to work on time too. With all these people out of work. I should just hire somebody off the street to live under one of the cars in my driveway. Then I could just charge them room and board for opening and closing my garage door every time I come and go. 👍🏼

My garage door locked me out. How do I prevent it from closing automatically by itself?
What do ya do if ya got it maxed out but still is open a inch. I replaced rollers. Wondering if the spring needs torqued.

Is there any way to lower it with the opener disconnected, Figured I would start that way first goes as far as i can but still have a 3/4" gap.
No you will need to have the power connected to adjust it.
Thank you!

My pleasure!
This might be a weird question, but could this method be used in reverse to give the door a larger gap?
Yes it can
Thank you...

Jim I have that same door. One side makes a nice seal while the opposite side sits a bit higher. How do I remedy that?
Same problem on mine. Did you get an answer anywhere else?
@@keithlayton5483 it has to do with the spring on each side. one is weaker

No did you adjustment the main unit to correct how far the door will travel. Either increase or decrease the travel?
@@getitdonehomerepair what is the main unit? Do you mean the force button? Could you send me a video that to adjust the travel distance?
Garage door walks it's way down? Adjustments?
Sorry can you explain the problem
It teeters side to side as it closes. I thought garage door spray would help. But it didn't.
Mine is shutting all the way but one side is quarter inch off the ground all the other side is perfectly flat
Mine only goes down halfway and stops. That adjustment is already maxed out and still will not close?????????
Thats hard sometimes because the ground moves from quakes
I adjusted to close more but still didn’t make any diff
