  • First time reviewing an amp like this, hope it turned out at least half way decent.
This amp is pretty awesome! As a heads up, I’m using a ‪@RevvAmps‬ G8 in the loop to help keep the amp quiet. Revv has some awesome stuff!!!

    I agree 100%
I also have the Artist Edition 100(but the blackout),and its the best amp I ever played (and I played many) and I can easily playing Black and Deathmetal with this amp,but this Amp has its true strength in Thrash and Heavy-metal.But also rock, jazz, blues or any other kind of music is no problem whit this amp.Super versatile.

Thanks for the comment! I love this amp so much. It doesn’t matter what kind of guitar I play through it too, always sounds big!

This and the inferno are the best engl amps. I have to say that the artist edition is more versatile. It’s a very impressive amp

I just sold my 5150iii Stealth, looking to get one of these, can't decide if it's going to be the 50w or 100w, or maybe even the Fireball. How do you like it compared to the 5150iii above?

Engl Artist vs Splawn Quick Rod - any opinions?

Never played a Splawn but wish I had one. They are definitely very different. Engl’s are like hybrid amps in my opinion, they aren’t as dry as a Marshall (or splawn). The Engl won’t ever get that “monsterous growl” sound like a Splawn can get. The AE is amazing but it’s more of a wet gain, very compressed and tight.

A high-end, high-wattage 5150 will hang with the Engl as well as a Peavey 6505. Obviously none of the low-end models would do the job.
