It’s multiple factors. In these low income, inner city areas: education isn’t that widespread, especially about family planning and contraceptives. Income is low, so having more children is a way to have more income (welfare, more people working, etc). This is the same concept in many poor countries in the world today, plus other factors.
I feel bad but why have more kids, if you are financially not able to afford basic items for the kids you already have as a single parent ???
