Holy shit I literally haven't seen anything about this game in almost 20 years, and now i see it and instantly remember everything, the menu soundtrack, the sound effects, its like i played it yesterday.
It does actually, it’s powerful and feels more louder. It reminds me of NFS SHIFT 1 or 2, the sound is absolutely powerful and in your face and I love that about a racing game, it gives you more adrenaline as well.
Nostalgia aside, the engine sounds are surprisingly good for their age, especially that off throttle sound. Certain AAA games were still giving us worse for years later on.
Aaah, this takes me back in time by 20 years when I used to play this on PS1. I loved it, although the handling of the cars was rather demanding and could be quite frustrating. But overall it was fun, and the graphics and sounds were also pretty good and have aged rather well.
I had this on a demo disc on the playstation. I was completely blown away by this game. The cars were super high detailed, I could see THROUGH the glass INSIDE THE CAR. The cars would deform and fall apart, bits would fly off in collisions. It was incredible.
And we can add, driving was pretty realistic, the commentator , the pit crew talking to you, and if you play on hard level, it was bumper to bumper race, just like in real BTCC....I was crazy about this game.
I'm almost 59 now. Back then I played Toca2 whenever I had time. Eventually I found out that you could add your own decals to the wagon. I always drove the A4 and tried to improve the original graphics. That worked quite well, but unfortunately it was always a compromise because the custom decors always had a worse resolution than the originals. But it was still a lot of fun. My favorite courses were Brands Hatch and Donington. It was a great time back then.
This is what I want out of a racing game. Fantastic gameplay, right off the bat (with cutting edge graphics and damage modeling to boot). I don't want seemingly endless unskippable full motion video of game footage strung together (running at lower resolution than the actual graphics card does in real time). I don't want to have to do jump through hoops to complete tedious challenges to unlock specific types of car or types of track. I don't want a sampler menu of dozens of different vehicles round a bunch of different types of tracks. I want a decent sized number of cars and tracks for a given type of racing that I'm interested in. I don't want cars that handle breaking at corners for you and big flashy arrows on the track telling me where to go. I don't want a "creative" menu that doubles as an abstract 3D art piece. I want to choose a car, track, conditions, difficulty and start a race - ideally all on the same screen. Add in a championship mode for some optional structure. Focus on the experience of most players - this means single player (not everything needs multiplayer tacked on, especially in titles where it's rarely used feature) and don't hide good main content behind gates that (as is clear from things like Steam unlock stats) that 90% of players never reach because the bail on the game long before then. Not that I'm mad about the state of racing games or anything.
Played it on the old laptop from my father back in maybe 2005 or 2006 with a Joystick, i loved this game. Played it with Colin McRae 2.0 everyday.. ah childhood memories.
i remembered playing this game with my brother when i was a kid, using controller, put on manual transmission, doing splitscreen, when i win, he bought me icecream :") now hes married, live on neighbouring city with his family, damn i miss my childhood with my bro :")
WOW ! So much memories summed up in 12 min clip ! Big nostalgic vibes here folks ! I clearly remember saving money to buy this game and getting my PC upgraded to make sure it runs smoothly !! God damn it sure makes me feel like I've just turn 40yo in January 2021 ! Jesus Christ Time is a slippery matter !
Loved this game, need ios port. What I love even more is the simplicity of ingame menu structure and lack of cutscene crap preventing you to do a race seconds after you started it.
Played it back then with my dad via LAN, both of us with one of those first red Force Feedbacks. Should be somewhere around his place still. When I watched the video I remember it like it wss yesterday. Only racing games that have been better since then are the first Forza Motorsport and Forza 3 in my opinion.
I play this game on Win10-64bit note PC. It works perfect. You need to apply the official patch before playing this, or Windows10-64bit will freeze while loading a race. The patch is a new version of TC2.exe. Just overwrite the old TC2.exe in the game folder.
ChotOmahh OiOi hey there, could you perhaps make a video showing how to do it please? Im lost. Its doing exactly what you’re saying. But im not sure what to replace or where to replace it, thank you.
Hi,@@synex885. I found more simple way. Go to below site. (Don't worry. It's written in English.) Read the instruction, download the custum patch for 64bit Windows, and apply it. www.replaying.de/files/toca-2-touring-cars-patch-windows-7-8-1-x64/ Good luck.
ChotOmahh OiOi i found a even more simpler way lmao, using cheat engine to speed up loading times, its all good now ☺️, i might release a video on it, there’s not much information out there.
Considering this game is over 20 years old it looks really good. I only played it on the PS 1(Well the PS 2, but you know what I mean,) and it was as blocky as Minecraft.
I know its a bit late, but how do you get rid of the gpu problems on this game.... I have a 6600 and it have issues rendering all the spots...it plays smooth but with ghost black dots and some noise
1:48 I was in my 18 in 1999 when I met that game in the first time. I'm saying the same thing. Front window doesn't break like the side windows. Because it is temperlite glass. :)
I don't remember this game having such an atrociously arcade handling, that this video seems to display. In fact as a kid I thought this was a hardcore simulator, just like life. Is my memory wrong? I can't remember if there were settings in the menu for realism and such. But honestly in this video the car handles like crap. could be that I just had different expectations as a child.
the game of my childhood, of the late 1990's and early 2000's. On ps1 the textures were pretty horrible with fuzzy lines in the distance. This is the best I've seen it look. Must get it for my PC and hope it works with an xbox game pad. This guy needs to learn how to drive though, and novice difficulty lol....should be on expert. This is the game that teaches you car control
Somebody help me!!! there is no other option in the menu only the network game. How can I fix it? I think the proble is that the CD is missing, can'T find any no cd cracks whic is woking HEEEEELP
hello friend a query I just installed the toca2 on the pc but it appears to me to start my career playing with net as I do to play only with the machine regards I also have Windows 7
It doesn't really freeze it just requires more time to work (around 1 hour) but there's solution for this. games.reveur.de/en/news/3578/ I also had the same problem but everything works fine now. It also works on win10
this game is my childhood
mine too
Same
Childhood and back in 1999 thinking that nothing can ever get any better.
I was born in 2007 and that also was my childhood with gta sa
exactly the same. great times
Holy shit I literally haven't seen anything about this game in almost 20 years, and now i see it and instantly remember everything, the menu soundtrack, the sound effects, its like i played it yesterday.
I loved this game so damn much back in the day, i just downloaded it on my tablet lol
same, i remember tinkering with the files and learning how to make my own liveries on my own without internet 🤣
It does exactly the same effect to me right now, crazy !
Writing my surname on the car and see it while playing was like a dream come true.
This is one of those games Codemasters should remaster.
yup.
Sure Racedriver series was decent, the 3rd one offered a huge range never seen before, but Quality>Quantity
Yes....if only the licensing was possible.
Totally agreed.
Ah nostalgia.

I still remember sounds of those cars. Especially Mondeo and interestingly sounding Primera. Laguna was loud and feeling heavy. Ah nostalgia :D
I'm 50 years old, but can remember this with such fondness. I lost weekends playing this. ♥️♥️♥️
Even though this game came out in 1998 it still sounds better than most Gran Turismo games lol
DTLaw00 Errrrr, no.
It does actually, it’s powerful and feels more louder.
It reminds me of NFS SHIFT 1 or 2, the sound is absolutely powerful and in your face and I love that about a racing game, it gives you more adrenaline as well.
u really need to play more gran turismo, im a toca 2 fan, but gran turismo was way ahead from any other car race game of PS1
@@panzerabteilung I played all the gt games and loved them but sound was not one of thier strong points
OMG I remember the menu sounds. Played this when I was like 5!! Best game ever. I memorised the engine sounds too lool
and that were real engine sounds

We used to play this lunchtimes at work, 3 or 4 of us on the LAN. Those 1 hour sessions would go so quick! Quake 3 was another fave.
I had this on a demo disc on the playstation.

Used to play this when I was young on the pc. Game is still sitting on the shelf at my grandparents'
What a great game. Played it back in 1998-1999
Volvo S40, Nissan Primera, Peugeot 306, Audi A4, Ford Mondeo, Vauxhall Vectra, Honda Accord and Renault Megane were the cars of my childhood! :D
Peugeot 406, Renault Laguna ;)
There were also other cars in this game like the Ford Fiesta Mk4
So many late nights with my headphones on doing race after race to qualify and win races.
The wet races at Snetterton were a nightmare.

That transmission whine is soooooo good.
I played this on a thrustmaster force feedback wheel and pedals, this game was AWESOME!
This game was so hard when i was a kid. Hardest racing game in those days i think
I played this to death when it came out. I also bought the first Microsoft force feedback wheel to go with it. Awesome at the time.
Same here! Same steering wheel for the same purpose. Those were the days!
Best game ever
I was 13 and put the toca 2 Theme in my Windows boot Sound :D

When I'm still kid I always enjoy playing TOCA 2 and always get slipped when turning wkwkwk
