      sorry i disagree, what about the original sound systems, ie duke vin, sir coxon, etc and all the artistes ie dennis alcapone, u roy, slim smith, prince buster, derrick morgan all these people where pushing reggae years before him , when it was bluebeat, ska , skinhead reggae trojan etc

    I feel your pain, reggae has evolved from previous years to conform with changing trends. Basically there's too much reggae music to play as a DJ, I should know I used to be one but family man now. So anyway people want to hear it all so this is unfortunately for some , the best way to bring to the chosen few. Just how reggae is played now at live gigs not like old days, check out a live reggae band sometime you'll love it or dub sound system session. Peace!!

    Appreciate your reply and have watched the video but I still prefer to listen to the whole of a recond not just snatches. Still thats his style and understand he's very popular.

    I went to an open-air David Rodigan gig but was disappointed. He was always interrrupting the flow of the music by interacting with the audience thus not allowing the music to speak for itself. All you heard was clips of songs as if the audience hadn't the atttention span to listen to the whole track.

      On the fence
      I did two years helping and working with Kris Kennedy Jr on BRMB around 1984 - gave me a chance to meet the reggae greats like Dennis Brown ( my favourite reggae artist), Eek-a-Mouse, Yellowman, Dean Fraser etc.
      Those were great times!

    Pretentious much..

  • @MAJORSNODGRASS
    @MAJORSNODGRASS 11 років тому

    Thanks dappa51 I feel vindicated.
    I was hip to BlueBeat and Ska in the 1960's i.e. first time round where we listened to the whole albums one track at a time both sides ffs!!
    Seems to me Rodigan is pandering to an audience that simply wants instant gratification projected at a very superficial level.
