New to using WinOLS? This module, taken from the WinOLS Mastery: Map Identification & Editing course, will run you some of the basics when it comes to functions and visual layout options from when you first fire up the software.
You can find the WinOLS demo download here: hpcdmy.co/winolsdemo
Note, this is just ONE module from the full WinOLS Mastery: Map Identification & Editing course, which aims to take you far beyond these basics when it comes to identifying and editing maps in your factory ECU.
What is WinOLS? WinOLS, commonly referred to as OLS, is a binary editor that allows us to take raw data from our ECU and structure it in a way that allows us to make calibration (tuning) changes. The skills required to do this are very different from those required for tuning, and they include a heavy reliance on pattern recognition, the application of which will vary between ECU brands and series.
This is just ONE module taken from the WinOLS Mastery: Map Identification & Editing. Get $25 USD off it via the link and coupon code above.
If you want to learn how to use WinOLS, this course is the PERFECT place to start.

Quick note on the MED9 stuff. KFLDIMX and KFLDRL(you've got KFLDLR) are only part of the boost control PID. And KFLDRL isn't actually part of the PID at all, it's a sanity/smoother output from the PID. Happy to provide inpt on Bosch or Siemens petrol or diesel control if required (I was the dude tuning the 1000hp RS6 on your hub dyno with M Developments)

There has to be a handful of people who can use Win OLS correctly. I very rarely meet someone that knows what it is. I'm pretty proficient with most GUI style tuning systems. This would be the next step in my Journey, But I've never downloaded the program. I get stuck on application. I've always wanted to tune an 850 Volvo (that engine sound) which, to the best of my knowledge, has little to no tuning support. But what kind of headache am I in for? Do you burn through modules testing?
What does safety to electronics look like with regards to learning and testing?
Thank you for making this. crazy to see a Winols vid

Certainly niche within an area of the industry that is already niche. Nicheception?
Those people all started at 0 too, and had a harder path than many of us do now in how we can leverage their knowledge and experience to get a jumpstart down this path often shaving off the years it took them to learn what they now share 😎 Same can be said for many other skills out there.
To answer your question, I can't answer your question 😂 I'm not sure on the capabilities of the ECU in your 850 Volvo but being an older vehicle, it probably is limited and might require physical modification before you can dive into things noting things really did take a big jump in the 2000's as they have again now in recent years. With some vehicles in this era fitting an aftermarket standalone ECU is often a more affordable option.
Our goals in making a course are a little different as we also have to factor in demand, but setting yourself up with a vehicle that lends itself to your learning path simply makes good sense to cut your teeth too. Oddball challenges are something that you can challenge yourself with later, but rarely are they in your best interests to start out on.
Aside from that if you haven't listened to this episode of the Tuned In podcast yet I think you will enjoy it: ua-cam.com/video/px4r-Nddszg/v-deo.html - Taz.

My biggest takeaway from this is that your user profile on your laptop is "Dr Dre"
