thanks for the post, I was wondering what they sounded like. I have tab exhaust and they are too loud (quiet version), I went back to stock for now. I plan on riding long distances and the noise would drive me crazy along with hearing loss.
Dang the quiet tab was too loud? I was so close to ordering them. I basically just want to get rid of the jetsons sound and maybe go like 10-20% louder than stock pipes but every exhaust out there is like open pipes basically
@@UnkindPenguin71 yes the quiet version is basically straight pipe with a smaller outlet. I just drilled a large hole on the last baffle on the stock exhaust. Perfect sound now. I hate that Indian stopped making the stage 1 exhaust slip~ons, those were perfect length & sound.
www.youtube.com/@Txcowboy80 No problem. I also have the dean speed rampage with quiet baffles and while they are nice, they're a bit loud for my taste, they're about 10db louder than these S&S which for me are about the perfect volume. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure these S&S slip-ons - or at least the other version with cats in them are the exact same product as the discontinued Indian branded "Stage 1 Shorty"
I just picked up a pair of these recently. Got them down from Akld H-D. Found them to be louder than what I was expecting. I had done a fair bit of googling and came across the US Indian forum page(s) where people were rating the volume of the pipes on a scale of 1-10. It looked like these were going to be a 5-6 (good for me) until I fitted them and found them closer to 7-8 (bad for my neighbours). That was when I found we get the racing pipes while the US market doesn't...bugger. So long story short, has anyone managed to get the baffle out of these? One of the end cap screws (and I'm guessing that's the right way to attack it) has a bloody 7 point security torx screw in it! 5 and 6 point security torx I have, drawing a blank on the 7 locally, might have to resort to e-bay or aliexpress ($50 a set for a one-off job). I'm hoping to get the baffle out, do the fibreglass and stainless wire baffle wrap, and see if I can't take the edge of this a little... I don't like upsetting my neighbours, as a wise man said, you don't shit where you eat!
@@SpyderRios the db meter is sitting on top of the red jack stand 500mm away and yes cold start. Once warmed up the s&s are in the 80s at idle, about 97@4000 rpm probably give or take a couple db as it’s just a cheap db meter
I've been considering these slip-ons for my Indian Scout Bobber, however, I am concerned they are too loud. How are you finding them? Saw your posts on the Indian forum. Thanks for uploading this Also is your stock muffler stamped EU ?
These are definitely not quiet - hard to say what's too loud as everyone has their own opinion, after a couple weeks riding with these I'm still really enjoying these - if I were in a situation where I was needing to start the bike early in the morning I think I'd have to go back to the stock mufflers for the neighbours but I think these are acceptable in daytime hours. Yes stock mufflers are stamped with E4 PII-306-EU
I ended up buying a set, trying to fit them and they didn't come with hose clamps. Did yours ? And did you use the factory ones ? My factory ones are a V band style. Also they won't slide right into position easily. Did you have any fitment issues ?
@@Booki89 The American models have a normal clamp, international models have a v-band style - I had previously bought some clamps for my dean-speeds so reused those. All I'm using is some "t-bolt" hose clamps and replaced the nyloc nut that came with them with the 10mm nut off the factory b-band clamps. Also yes they are a little tight to get on - for me i noticed the top one slid on quite easily, the bottom one was tighter but was due to the header pipe having some carbon build up, I gave it a sand to clean it up. Additionally I wrapped a piece of 4x2 with a rag and used that + a rubber mallet to tap the mufflers on - be careful to get everything lining up nicely so the bolts go in easily without cross threading - should be able to get them started by hand smoothly
@@nzArrow88 my bike doesn't have much if any carbon build up. It's done less than 1,500km. Appreciate you telling how you fitted them, wacking them on with a mallet and some wood is far from ideal. Do they come off easily now?
@@Booki89 I think I would have been able to get them on just with wiggling and twisting eventually but was much easier to give them a few taps. And yea they come off again with a big of wiggling - much easier getting them off then on where you are having to get the holes lined up perfectly. Pretty much same experience with the dean speeds - its a tight fit by design - otherwise it would leak

Yes
