Randy Moss really was something special back then when we had never seen that much raw talent from a player before.
He was a big guy to
If he had the right trainer he would of been Usain bolt before Usain bolt
miss that era
Titans would have got him instead of dyson
If your a packers fan who grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s I agree
Jerry Rice had the most deceptive speed in NFL history. People look at his 40 time but they don't look at the in game footage... Once he had that football in his hand he was lightning fast
I believe the NFL combine started using the very accurate lasers to time about the year 2000.Before that it was the inaccurate stop watch.
Incredibly under rated speed, Jerry was a pure distance runner
Nate Burleson, once said, Randy Moss had effortless speed, meaning he didn't breathe loud or heavy, when he was running a go route at full speed.
Randy Moss is on record saying that he's never ran as fast as he could 🤪
Must be nice to not have asthma 😉
@@chadheydt8221 So he wanted to get caught from behind by Terence Newman or he knew he could not out run him. Which one is it?
@@sydboski You're talking 05? Moss was hobbled throughout, its obvious in his 1st Oakland game vs the Patriots
@@nbt2310 Moss was never a world class sprinter. Newman was.
One thing they failed to mention about James Jett of the Raiders, he was a part of the 1992 summer Olympic 4 X 100 meter relay team that won gold with Carl Lewis running anchor for the team.
Fact
In terms of purely being a deep threat, DeSean Jackson
What made DeSean special was how well he could track the deep ball without losing speed. He could have been amazing at Center Field too. Jackson and Hill have that explosive speed versus a guy like Moss or Rice who just have effortless speed and just pull away from guys
@@blairpenny1526 Andy Reid spotted both of them too.
What separates Randy from the rest of these guys is that he was like 5 inches taller than all of them and just as explosive. Crazy.
Yup. Most of these guys had to rely on speed alone for big plays. Moss would have 3 guys on him and just out-size/outjump people. Easily there most lethal weapon the NFL has ever seen.
@@nbt2310 Tell them 1227. Moss.
And supposedly, "84 dont stretch."
@@nbt2310 They call it getting Moss'd/Mossed for damn good reason.
yup crazy freak moss was
Nice to see Devery Henderson get some love, I discovered him on madden 04? Where he was the 5th receiver for, like 67 overall but a 96 speed so I always moved him into the starting lineup.
Notable omissions that came to my mind; Az hakim, John Ross, human joystick, any receiver the raiders reached on in the 1st round over the years.
Wish DJax would have stuck around in LA this year and got himself a ring. Such a fun player to watch across all his stints with different teams. He’s good for one or two deep touchdowns a season regardless of how old he gets.
"Speed" is such a broad term. It is the way the various elements of speed are used by the WR that make them effective. There is first 20 speed (quickness off the line, think a cars 0-60 MPH), 2nd 20 speed (elite top-end speed, think a cars MAX MPH) and then there's the 10-30 speed (the speed at which a car jumps from 20 to 60). A WR ability to "vary" their speed during routes is an extremely important skill that is often overlooked by so called "professionals". "Yup, John Ross runs a 4.22, he is going to be elite. Nope, Jerry Rice ran a 4.6, not sure about this guy"...Evaluating speed and how it is used in this way helps figure why John Ross and his 4.22 couldn't be DeSean Jackson even though DJax ran 4.35. It also explains how 4.2 guys like Moss and Hill CONSTANTLY got open deep even when defenses knew it was coming. Moss would constantly hide his speed on decoy routes to fool the DBs into doing something other than turning around and sprinting down the field, quite similar to a poker player "slow playing" a powerful hand, and foolish/dumb/uninformed "analysts" confused this with being "lazy" and having "effort" problems.
Big Facts man. Another person who didn't have a long career but had this same effortless speed was Jacoby Ford. Go to his combine 40. Dude ran 4.28 ...with a straight face
Would add that Moss would hide his speed on decoy routes, quite similar to a poker player "slow playing" a powerful hand, and foolish/dumb/uninformed "analysts" confused this with loading. All while he lead the league in scoring all the time.
Oh shut up. Fast is fast
well the thing thats crazy about moss is his size, all the other guys are under 5 6ft whereas moss is like 6 4 and as fast or even faster than tyreek hill
thats true 40 isnt the best test of speed, tall guys have less acceleration. also rice wasnt fast at first but i think once he entered the leauge his work ethic drove him to be faster, so his official time is 4.6 but his hard work he got faster and faster
Hester the only person with 100 speed in Madden history... That speaks for itself
Also makes Madden look dumb. Prime Moss not 100? LMAO
And he not faster than tyreek
@@nbt2310 how the heck was DeSean Jackson not 100 speed in Madden that's why I stopped playing Madden years ago. Madden 2012 was the last Madden I bought in 2012 and it was also the last good Madden.
Madden speed do not reflect real life. They are not accurate at all.
Damn, Bob Hayes didn't get into the Hall of Fame until 2009?
Joey Galloway was a definite hidden gem, glad he' s gotten recognition nowadays.
His five years with the Seahawks were literally the most mediocre team of all time.
8-8, 7-9, 8-8, 8-8 and 9-7.
Also, Percy Harvin might be my favorite football name just to phonetically say. It rings so well somehow.
.... I wouldn't call .500 or winning records "mediocre" lol
@@einzelganger6664 that’s right on line with being mediocre 🤣
Cliff Branch, James Jett, Rocket Ismail, DHB, Ruggs, Willie Gault, Warren Wells. Raiders have had some of the fastest receivers of all time. Always seemed to find them and pick them up when Al was running things.
Yeah henry ruggs sure was really fast
Sam Graddy, Alexander Wright, Dokie Williams, Malcolm Barnwell, Jacoby Ford...I remember those early 90's teams were called the Santa Monica Track Club in pads.
@@Meep-oc4di That's horrible
James Jett was an olympic gold medalist.
Darius heyward bey...
Moss, Desean, and Tyreek top 3 IMO honorable mention Bo/Deion/Chris Johnson
hester? wtf😂
@@DogIn1993 I don’t think he was faster than any of those 6 just my opinion
This is fastest wide receivers
@@ethan.2510 Missed that aha👍🏽
None of the players mentioned in this thread are in the top 20 fastest players in NFL history in actual measured speed.
The only man that has ever had 100 speed in madden the goat returner Devin Hester
In madden 15 and 16 there were cards with 100+ speed, I remember a deion sanders boss legends card that had 105 speed and 107 acceleration
@@jedimastert4850 um those are ultimate team cards…
Yeah, well Madden has been ass for the last 12 years, so who cares.
Trendon Holliday was the fastest NFL player ever.

Djax could definitely fly, if you know you know.
I miss prime Deshaun Jackson no doubt
facts
Cheetah tyreek the best in nfl
Literally . Some of the old people getting shown was fast for their time but nowadays everyone fast even linemen
I swear Brandin Cooks with like 7 straight 1000 yard seasons still feels severely underrated.
The Raiders 93 and 94 WR corps should've been mentioned collectively. Tim Brown, Rocket Ismail, James Jett, and Alexander Wright. An Olympic gold medal winning sprinter, an All American track star and 2x NFL Fastest Man winner, a guy literally nicknamed ROCKET because of his speed, and the Heisman trophy winning, Hall of Famer who completely destroyed defenses underneath and never seemed to get caught from behind on those crossing routes. That corps would be LETHAL in today's less violent, offensive friendly NFL.
Look up 95 Raiders vs Cowboys. Deion vs James Jett and Ismail was the fastest match-ups I've ever seen on film
Who was the Olympic Gold Medal winner?
@@husker16 James Jett won a gold in '92. He outran Carl Lewis in the prelims. Dude was blazin fast.
@@elbowgang9715 LOL look it up...I was THERE. When Deion tricked Jeff Hostetler in to throwing that bomb and then ran down ROCKET ISMAIL, then jumped over his head to make that pick, then held the ball up in his left hand for like 15 yards on the return, I knew once and for all, Prime was DIFFERENT.

Harold Jackson is one of the most underrated receivers in NFL history and I hope he reaches Canton one day
Great Video NFL Throwback 👍💯
Great video but we can't forget about my man Ted Ginn Jr.
i was watching to make sure he was in there....he made the it in there
Where is Ron Brown? Gold medalist 1984 Olympics runs a 10.01 100M only man faster than him on this list is Bob Hayes.
That is almost true. Hayes and Brown both have PB's of 10.06. But there are 4 other players who ran even faster than both of them, and they are not even on this list.
This was such a great vid and list. stanley morgan and flipper anderson making this list made this super official. Cant really think of anyone left off this. I def wanna mention michael haynes and eric metcalf.
Mike Quick, Duper and Clayton, receivers from THE GREATEST SHOW ON TURF, Harrison and Wayne, Andre Reed, Run and Shoot Oilers receivers
Duper 10.21 100m is the fastest player you mentioned. Unfortunately he is not in the top 20 fastest players in NFL history by actual measured speed.
Nice call on Harold Jackson. Always gets overlooked.
man, i already miss football!
One player left out, can't figure out why he's negated. Steve fucking Smith, Agent 89, Smitty, from 2003-2009, Steve Smith was an absolute burner.
yup that is an obvious miss.
For this BS list yes. But for a real list with actual measured speed Smith does not make the cut.
Eddie Kennison and Daunte Stallworth deserve some mention.
@Antwanh5… on God bro! I was thinking about Donte Stallworth this WHOLE video, also my guy Henry Ellard from the Rams and Redskins in the Late 80’s and early 90’s.
I’m sorry but Desean Jackson speed is/was just different.. he looks so much faster than everyone else and it looks like he doesn’t even be trying lol
Looks are deceiving.
3:02 that punter laid there knowing I don’t have a job after this 😂😂
You ain’t gonna outrun anyone named “Rocket”
Man mike Wallace was really movin back in the day
For some reason he fell off I thought he was a future starr
@@ericpackers1700 he started dropping passes 🤷🏾♂️
Bob Hayes was built different… created zone defense
Yeah, he is the fastest player ever.
so you telling me zone coverage wouldnt exist witout bob hayes 🤨 james jett smoking him
Been watching Percy Harvin play football since he was in high school, I’m younger than him but he’s the only person I ever seen make playing football look so effortlessly
Henry Ruggs did go pretty fast that one time…
😂😂😂 Good one
well yeah i guess
@@yengvang8737 how is that a good one he killed somebody why is anyone making a joke about it let alone laugh at it
Thats a disgusting joke he killed a innocent woman in that accident as well as her dog but yeah lets joke about it wtf

Harold Jackson and Stanley Morgan on the same NE team for 5 years or so with Russ Francis at TE was fun to watch. Both should get more HOF consideration
Willie Gault the Tecmo Bowl 🐐
James Jett was faster than anyone on the field. A lot of Raiders were speed demons. Joey Galloway wasnt a Raider, but I remember that guy had speed.
Raiders also had both GOATs Moss and Rice at some point
Except deion
@@nbt2310 and branch
@@elare1342 Jett was faster than Deion. Jett 10.16 100m. Deion 10.26.
Randy Moss, Tyreek Hill, and Desean Jackson. End of story.
LOL. Moss wasn't faster than either of the other 2 and Hill is the only one of those 3 who actually had world class speed. DJax and Moss did not and the do not belong on a real list of the fastest players based on actual measured speed.
Tennessee Volunteer legend Willie Gault
A theory of why Jerry Rice is the most explosive receiver ever (despite running a 4.6, 40) is because of his incredible stamina. How fast can those sub 4.4 DB’s run when they get tired as the game progresses? Jerry Rice might be the fastest WR ever in the 3rd and 4th quarter because his incredible stamina allows him to keep his top-speed for all 4 quarters whereas other db’s lose theirs as the game progresses.
Not just that, he could change speed effectively, which would throw off the corner guarding him
Desean Jackson really made the Eagles pay for trading him 😂
Great list, but I was a little sad not to see my man John Taylor on there. He had some serious speed. Also, Steve Smith deserves to be spotlighted.
Neither should be mentioned in the fastest WR in NFL history. Then again neither do some of the ones in the video.
I don’t know how Jerry Rice made this list. The GOAT Receiver but it’s about the fastest. Rice ran great routes but is not as fast as these guys in this video
Was literally thinking that
I agree
Facts.
game speed dude
If Bob Hayes had -played in this era, his numbers would have been sick.
In a smashmouth 3 yards and a cloud of dust era
I disagree completely. Players like Hayes and Jim Brown looked invincible because they outran very poor mediocre secondaries back in their era. For example, look at Dallas who had Charlie waters and cliff Harris in their secondary, you honestly think those 2 players would be starting in any secondary in today's much faster NFL? No way. Look at the Raiders Fred Biletnikoff who was very slow, you honestly think he would get a WR job in todays NFL? No way.
You cant compare those eras back then to today's NFL because todays NFL is way more advanced and much more faster! Thats my opinion.
Ron Brown L.A Rams 84-91? Gold medal relay winner summer olympics? Once crowned fastest man in the NFL?
good call
That just goes to show you how BS this list is.
Having Ted Ginn on our team was a game changer
I'm actually glad Jerry Rice was put on here. Because I'm not sure any wide receiver had better translated "football speed" than Rice did. 4.5/4.6...whatever he ran in shorts on a track, he seemed to run JUST AS FAST in pads and cleats. I've never seen a guy before or since have that carryover on the football field. One of the many reasons why he's the GOAT.
Rice Is Still The Number # 1 Wide Receiver As The 🐐
No, he really didn't run "just as fast" as any of the guys covering him.
Don't tell me you look at Jerry's clips and see him burning DBs. It didn't happen.
Jerry was the greatest route runner in NFL history, by a lot, and top 5 hands of all time, but no, his speed was pedestrian for an NFL wide receiver.
I could give you over 500 WRs that are faster and quicker than Jerry Rice. He was put on here for shock value.
if your telling me you’d take jerry rice over Moss in their prime’s then you don’t know football 💀 if moss had brady for more then 3 seasons he’d hold every wr record known to man. Is rice more accomplished? Ya, sure. But Moss was a better athlete and receiver IMO
Speed variance dude. Knowing how to use 4.6 speed >>>> a 4.3 guy just sprinting up field every play.
@@Baddknewz you don't know football if you don't think Jerry Rice is by far the most dominant receiver ever and yes i would take a prime Jerry Rice over anyone he had the perfect size, speed, route running ability by far the greatest ever to run after the catch he also a better blocker the only thing moss was better at is running the 9 route straight down the field with a 50/50 ball that's it everything else Rice was much better than Moss
Deebo might break that 50+ yard 20 TDs sometime it’s unlikely but if all people it’s him
I was looking for Darius Heyward-Bey but I guess I was wrong
Speed does kill
Ikr. Think of Henry Ruggs
Moss is the funnest player to highlights of he makes the game look very easy,GOAT of WR imo
He may be the GOAT, but yeah, Rice shouldn’t be in here with these guys, wasn’t even the fastest Niner receiver on most of those teams.
Devery Henderson was one of the best madden deep threats of all time
God bless you guys Always keep God first
JOEY is The 1st Person that comes to Mind. 😳
God bless you
It still blows my mind how Stanley Morgan is not in the Hall of Fame, just look at his stats and the time he played in. 😑
Stanley Morgan should be in the hall of fame. So underrated
5:47 beautiful downfield block
Time for the speedy Cornerbacks!!!
Mike wallace was a beast
I think Desean and Tyreek are very close in their prime! Top end Bob Hayes was probably the overall fastest. I would’ve loved to see all of these guys in their primes race!
Tyreek is the faster receiver in his prime
Bob Hayes ran 10.06 100m PB
Hill 10.19
DJax 10.50
It is not even close.
But there are players who ran faster than Hayes.
Sorry but Jerry Rice wasn’t fast! He was well condition as a great route runner. Still the goat
He had football speed he didn't have pure speed in terms of 40 time but give Jerry the ball in game and he would out run anyone
@@richardgutierrez26 he was well condition. He was more like a marathon runner. He may get a slow start but his endurance makes him more clutch. Dbs can only get tired late in the game lol
@@terucks I mean he sure wasn’t slow 😂😂you don’t run an end around and take it to the house if your a slow player.
@@terucks Jerry Rice was fast in a sense that when he caught the ball the only thing on his mind was scoring a touchdown and you wasn't going to catch him, but I get what you saying a lot of these guys on this list without run Jerry Rice in a foot race but.

Yes and no. Yes, you cannot compare world class speed to regular guy speed. No, Gault never ran in the Olympics. But Gault is not in the top 10 fastest players with verified 100m dash times.
nice list but you forgot Jacoby Ford
Terrell Owens, Michael Lewis, Hollywood Brown, Donte Stallworth, Henry Ruggs, Tim Brown, Jerome Mathis, jacoby ford, Bob Hayes. Jus a few names that I can think of rite off top.
The only ones that should be mentioned are Jacoby Ford 10.01 100m and Bob Hayes 10.06. No e of the others ran faster than 10.49.
Desean Jackson was an insane Eagle
Ruggs and John Ross
Antonio Brown is big time missing but this video is only 4 days old. The man was a beast and maybe the best at what he did before the craziness.
Best and fastest are two different things.
Really not going to put Calvin Johnson on this list? 6’5 235lbs and ran a 4.3. Ask Patrick Peterson, a known speedster, what he thought of CJ when he took a slant 80 yards to the house against his Cardinals.
exactly they put ja’marr chase and no obj 🤦🏿♂️
