I’ve read of when taking a trip to buy postcards from the places you visit. It gives you professional photos of local sites. Then you fill them out with what you did that day and post them from the place you visited. When you get home and get your post cards from the mail you can bind them into a small book. If you’re just doing day trips here and there you could do the same thing only bind them together by year, quarter or month depending on how often you take trips. Just be sure you mail them from the town, city or village because the local post mark just adds to the “story” of the trip.
I’m just discovering solo dates…and loving them. Rather than having to cajole a reluctant partner to come to something (or even worse, missing out entirely) I now say, “I’m off to see this on that date” - and go and enjoy time alone. Returning refreshed with something interesting to talk about.

What a lovely day out in Dunkeld ❤ Lovely vintage dress 👗 I am wearing more and more dresses as I had got into a ‘legging’ rut 😂 My nine month old first grandchild is named Beatrix ‘Trixie’ Elizabeth so it’s a good excuse to buy her things to do with Beatrix Potter. I went to Cambridge a few weeks ago and bought ‘The tales of Tom Kitten’ to read to her as I loved reading this story to my children whom are 29 & nearly 23. The illustrations are so lovely. I was just in the Scotland Highlands last week. I missed Dunkeld but we spent some time in Glencoe, the Cairngorm Mountains, and visited Urquhart Castle. Definitely one of my favorite places in Europe--I can't wait to go back! The lush landscape was like nothing I've seen anywhere else.

Umm, you do know Peter Rabbit's dad got put in a pie by Mrs McGregor, don't you? Maybe one is a bit young to take that in, or maybe it's edited out of the board book version! I so love Beatrix Potter. I was helping homeschool two sisters years ago and they had an omnibus edition. It's the perfect reading scheme, from the really simple short text of 'The Fierce Bad Rabbit' up to much longer and more complex stories like Squirrel Nutkin and Jeremy Fisher. They're all a bit macabre of course, but I don't remember that really being a problem! Love all your outings!

Looked great , I love little solo adventures I’m very lucky to live in the lake district, but love visiting the sea , your packed lunch looked so good better than some of the miserable sandwiches I’ve taken at times !

Ohh, I have such sweet memories of reading Beatrix Potter’s stories to my children. I’m so glad you were able to see the exhibition. I was blown away when we visited an exhibition of her work before Christmas in Atlanta. ALL of her art is superb and inspiring. And, okay, Perthshire is now on my bucket list. Lovely, just lovely.
