  • In this tale Hades comes to challenge Zeus - over an issue happening amongst their godly family but also interfering in the mortal realm... and he is serious. It shall be continued in the next episode!
    Living Mythology is an attempt to entertain, relax and educate all in the one place. We are trying to forge narratives so that people can experience the religions and mythologies of the world as they were meant to be. Not as dry academic monoliths, but as living breathing tales and parables as experienced by the peoples who worshipped these beings, in an attempt to make sense of their own lives and the world around them.
    This channel is in its infancy, so we hope to improve and develop it as we gain more experience.
    All of the tales are taken from very conflicting traditions across many centuries, so there will be many a moment when decisions need to be made to create a more cohesive narrative. If we present something that seems to be in contrast to details, rest assured we have researched many forms of the traditions and come to the conclusions we have done to form the videos.
    There will NEVER be total agreement on any of these narratives due to the history and differing ways they developed over the centuries.
    These videos are for entertainment and an easy gateway to the subject. If you wish more academic details then please direct your attention to the wide source material and others who perform those types of academic video essays.

    An interesting prelude to the myth of Asclepius. A first glimpse to the anger of Hades and the impact of those that try to cheat death. Is resurrection such a transgression? Or do those that seek to escape death seek to escape judgement instead? Does death itself give greater meaning and purpose to life? The next part of this story is going to be very interesting indeed. Great work! I always love seeing a more in-depth and character driven telling of the old myths from the perspective of those in it.

    I love Hades. He might be just as capricious, as his siblings, but he mostly holds it in check. He is dutyfull and kind and he is a good husband. Yes, one could argue, he still stole his wife, but I attribute that to the times this particular pantheon was created and to his credit, he not only wanted her to like him and feel liked, he gave her choice.
    It's always a treat getting one of your viedos. Lightbringer and the Bard are doing such a great job with the voices, the music and the visuals, creating a vibe.

      @@leeannproctor2966 it makes sense...I mean if we base it on the literature Hera had always taken her title as queen seriously especially since at the start of it all she and Zeus established their reign from nothing after the war with the titans and that she always had great respect for Hades as she and him had known each other the longest...is she dramatic yes but for things that require politics I see her living up to her title of queen...but that's just me

    Oh Asclepius, how stupid and kind-hearted you can be.
    To steal from the Lord of the Dead, the first son of Kronos, the king to whom we all belong in the end?
    You sweet and helpful fool.
    The cosmos would shake and break if the Lord of the Black Lands unleashed his wrath. When he breaks through Gaia with all his power to get to Olympus. To tear Zeus from his throne there and put everyone in Olympus in their place. Oh poor, poor Asclepius, how stupid and kind-hearted can you be to steal from the Guardian of the Titans?
    And what wrath will you bring upon us?
    Don't you know what it means to challenge him?
    Don't you know who follows and serves him?
    Aren't you afraid of the dark gods of his realm?
    The destroyer of light and queen of this dark realm?
    The kind ones who judge damned souls?
    The iron-hearted death and those to whom the gods make unbreakable oaths?
    Aren't you even afraid of Father Darkness and Mother Night?
    Poor Asclepius, poor mortal fool.
    Your actions bring us the wrath of the Firstborn, the Eternal King, the Unseen... he, the first son of Kronos, wants revenge on you and we all threaten to perish because of it.

    On the one hand Hades brings forward an excellant point in that Zeus is derelict in his duties as King if outright thieving of, what are effectivly Hade's own subjects from his realm right under his nose. I do find the derision and contempt of healing to be odd. Healing only ever delays never denies Hades his due.
    Him rolling out with basically everyone in his court plus two primordials?
    I'm... entirely certain had Zeus answered diffrently or Hades not believed him, he wanted to make sure Zeus wasn't going to walk away.

    • @ciaranbrk
      @ciaranbrk Місяць тому +2

      I think it was the fact Zeus swore on the river Styx. Hades is patient and deliberate he has genuine care for Zeus. He even wanted to fight typhon with him. Hades can’t have his realm stolen from or he looks weak he has to find a solution or go to war.

    • @l.raphaelnery7299
      @l.raphaelnery7299 Місяць тому +1

      @@ciaranbrk I agree with the sentiment...and since Asclepius is the son of Apollo and Apollo is in Zeus's court, making this all part of Zeus's legacy means any sudden smiting would be seen as a declaration of war on Olympus...simply put Asclepius is protected by nepotism... Apollo protects his son, and Zeus's legacy protects him... so this meeting no matter how tense is a sign of diplomacy between kings...it just that none of them have any chill whatsoever

    Hello! Dimitris Taramas here big time fan of your Warhammer series and Greek in origin, I love your episode, but with your permission, I would like to give some notes.
    First of all although I understand how convenient it must be I would like to suggest you stop using AI generated pictures for your characters and start using man-made drawn images. They are far superior.
    My secondment note it’s about the the story, first of all if Hades needed a messenger he would used Hermes who War is the messenger of God and frequented the underworld in daily basis, His job, among others, was to bring the souls of the dead to Haron to take them to the underworld with his boat, Thanatos had other duties.
    My third note is that I think you made the same mistake that many other creators make, the underworld wasn’t hell Hades is not the devil and they had very good relationships Zeus and Hades. This mistake is not obvious it’s more on the flavour of the story the feeling I get when I hear it.
    My fourth note is more of nitpicking and personal opinion than anything else but if Zeus where to pick someone to come with him it would be Athena and Hermes. Athena for her wise, council and Hermes for his wit and for recording and messaging.
    My fifth and last is that if a doctor and even more a demigod where able to heal people back to live it would have been a completely different story from someone stealing the dead from the underworld. It would have been an amazing feat.
