    When he talks about The Smiths, and how important ART/Music is... sigh.
    this guy is such an inspiration to me, musically & artistically.

    Beyond doubt, the most interesting, honest, straight-up, information-filled, intriguing, fascinating and deep interviews i have ever seen. Whatever anybody else things of this new interviewer, he just totally nailed getting the very best out Ryan Adams...and i think Ryan's last words to him were said with total honesty....GREAT STUFF.

    I rate this interviewer because, overall, he allows Ryan’s mind to run free. Like most exceptional artists, Ryan’s thoughts can’t be corralled. It’s by far the best way to try and understand how the mind of an artistic genius works. No question, a great interview 💫

    It's funny how Ryan speaks about 7" singles. How people told him they were too good for the format. It used to be the exact opposite. You would put out lp's with the filler and your 7" releases were the way to put out your strongest stuff. I feel people consume music in a less mysterious, exciting way these days. I love having to go to my local record store to buy music. It's well worth the extra dough. You also get to support a small business which is the way a strong community is built in my opinion.

    I didn't get arrogance from Ryan in this interview. He's passionate about music. What I noticed in this and other interviews is that Ryan sometimes has a hard time explaining himself and tends to go off on a metaphor filled tangent to get back to his point.

    i love this new guy but god i wish jian interviewed ryan before they fired him. there is a special vibe of jian's interviews with ryan. something feels like christmas morning or catching a fish for the first time..

      Jian is a celebrity kiss ass douche. I'll admit he asked damn good questions in his interviews but his mannerisms came off unauthentic. Happy to see him off air and facing the consequences of the sexual assault charges. Jian is replaceable.

      alexander soriano He was a great interviewer and a great writer. Yes these rape accusations and his fetishes are really sick and quite shameful. He is the biggest disappointment there is now. But let the police deal with that.. we have to respect the good work he has made through the years.

    • @C4millee99

      alexander soriano
      dude shut the fuck up. what he does in his personal time doesn't define him as an interviewer

    • @ACKSDAWG
      @ACKSDAWG 10 років тому +2

      Adrian Brown Yeah you're right it defines him as a human. What the fuck is wrong with your logic? Jian chose a career that is in the public's eye, and if he's going to fuck up his career by having four counts of sexual assault then that's his fucking fault. It's people like you who think these influential figures can get away with stupid shit and not expect to suffer consequences. Do yourself a favor and self evaluate your personal values.

    • @3M00RI
      @3M00RI 10 років тому

      alexander soriano He harassed women long before he became a radio host. I don't believe he took advantage of his power to please his fetishes. And i think its more than 4 sexual harassement accusations.

    listen to give me something by ryan, and then listen to stop dragging my heart around by petty. its not the voice.. its the chords, the structure and the melody. not saying ryan stole anything from petty, who know where petty got his thing from either but they are similar. something also about stevie nicks on stop dragging that makes it not a heartbreakers song. love it all.. saw ryan twice in vancouver... great talent.. even with broken ribs.

    - Art is a bullsh*t free zone.
    - The single hasn't been dignified.
    - You could be in an emotional state and go see Titanic, and it would be a great time.
    Pax Am studio is like the greater cottage/craft movement (craft beer, craft clothing etc). Artists need a safe place to be free to create what feels right.

    I appreciate the sentiments Ryan conveyed here. I'm not a fan of his(remember fan is short for fanatic) but have enjoyed some tunes of his. I agree with him regarding the categorization of music situation. My music is influenced by music as diverse as Anita Baker to The Ramones. For me there really are 2 categories. Quality or not quality..

    I understand why he shelved the Glyn johns record, and I would never begrudge him that (it is HIS art), BUT..... respectfully and out of love I do wish he would let us decide whether it's any good or not. I'm very curious to hear it cuz even middle-of-the-road Ryan Adams is better than most others' best. It might not ever make it to being my once a month bubble bath and cry record (that's a special record), but i could jam it in the car to and from work...

    And how does he feel when he reads glowing reviews that claim he's the new Gram Parsons? "I don't know why people say that," he replies. "Gram was his own person and I'm my own person. I'm a student of the Rolling Stones, a student of Lou Reed and a student of Gram Parsons, and they were students of other people. I feel like a student of Emily Dickinson and Jasper Johns - anything I can get my hands on that turns me on artistically."DRA in the guardian 2011

    In honour of Ryan being a guest on the show, it should have been renamed to "C" instead of "Q".

    Elliott Smith would have become as popular in the mainstream media world than any artist of the past quarter decade; he woke up one day before the release of Roman Candle. And he looked as pretty much the perfect example of what a tortured folk/alternative artist who outgrew the band that brought him to the notice of higher ups in the industry! Seriously tho... Had ES looked like ryan adams; alive, adored, worshipped by the regular folks. As well as the worlds best/most popular musicians also... But, his self titled album was a extremely awesome album that made me not give two shits about him. to really delving into his whole catalog(wayy to many albums!)... plus he got to sleep with mandy moore every night for many many years; lucky bastard

    I think all the comparisons come from he plays open chord, anthemic, traditional rock tunes. Fewer effects, synths, artificial rhythms. Also he will do acoustic tracks as much as a full band electric track. So he gets all those comparisons. That said, he will throw in the Smiths and punk and 80s stuff in the mix.

    What if only sexually violent people were good interviewers? Like, it takes a sexually violent mind to really dig into the guest's psyche. I don't know.
