I really love this record and think it is without a doubt one of the very best studio albums from Neil and the guys in Crazy Horse. When the record came out (I have both the LP and the CD on my shelf) the sound was really fantastic. Billy Talbot's bass in particular comes through well without interfering with Neil's clear voice. I think that this particular recipe has remained in later albums. For me, the song White Line is probably the best from the album. It's short but intense and Neil Young at his very best with Crazy Horse. That being said, I really love the long and tough songs too, such as Love To Burn and, not least, Ramada Inn where Neil's distorted guitar really comes into its own.
Too bad too many Review Requesters only ask for the wimpy acoustic and the same ones that are nowhere near as good and the same acoustic garbage all the other reaction channels play...Harvest Moon was terrible but wimpy boys always request it
I bought the vinyl when it was released, played it into the ground as loud as I could, and saw the tour in Dallas and Houston. I love this album and especially this song, last song on Side 1; what a side! My absolute favorite Neil Young album. This is why he plays with Crazy Horse. Yes, I had to come back and thank you for this album, for standing up for your beliefs, and for always putting the music first. I saw Mr. Young up on stage playing with Jerry Jeff Walker at Willie Nelson’s 4th Of July Picnic, 1985, and thank you for that too!
Just now, after all these years, I'm discovering this fantastic album. Absolutely one of his best. And then followed by something completely different and also amazing: Harvest Moon.
