I have tried and had many radios and I only test them with headphones always with the same headphones and the same antenna with the same sensitivity, Yaesu uses a DNR which no radio has and digital noise reduction, that's why it makes the difference between other radios radios have the patent and no one can put it in the radios, kewood, icom and others, they all have NR non-digital noise reduction, maybe that's why?
I think the noise floor is not so bad on the 7700 ? The Lx station was going over the 9 on the 7700 but 7-8 on the 101? Might be an 1s of difference? Both are FAB . The 101 might have better NR . I enjoyed your video .
Thanks for the video. Personally like the 101, but S Meter should not be 0 unless it's not hooked up to an antenna. There is always a noise floor so meter isn't accurate (scratching head). DNR was impressive, but 7700 put up a fight. Nice radios!!
I don't buy Hamradios based on the Sherwood list. Why would I? I don't have a lab environment. Most Ham's would benefit more from a better antenna than a better rig?
why people keep saying that a radio is quieter by judging the s-meter? this is lack of knowledge FIRST: Icom and Yaesu use different calibration for the s-meter scale SECOND: you’re not giving the two radios the same starting conditions. Yaesu is in IPO but should be PREAMP1 ON to set similar sensitivity THIRD: the band noise here is setting the noise floor, not the radio receiver section. FOURTH: the filter bandwidth doesn’t match between the two by ear. Too many misconceptions. 73
nice video i have the icom 7700 several years and I am very pleased

7700 is to sensitieve on the low bands i always use the att

Both good radios yes the 101 dnr is far better.
...and VFO...

a fantastic receiver
Icom Icom fir ever
Very nice
What antenna are you using John? S1 or less noise on 40M is unreal receive to have!
Hi Robbie Just a 40m dipole and a g5rv just lucky at this qth on lower bands and lots of ferrites hi.
bands are bad this morning but saying that there where fantastic about 1.00 am this morn and i caused a pile up early sat morn little old me lol

Yeasu wins IMHO
no CW ....not interesting :(((

thanks for your comment
very nice

Very nice
