Malaysian here. I used to live in Barking when I was studying in University of East London located at Longbridge Road. 1993-1996. Has it been more then 30 years ago? How time flies.
I worked in Barking in the 90's. I found it a really nice place. I am from Yorkshire but was working somewhere near Barking so that is where I stayed for a while. I have fond memories of a nice little pub I found there.
I live in Memphis Tennessee but had a sales manager that was originally from Barking always wanted to know more about there. Thank you for the interesting information.
As someone originally from Barking, I weirdly find it odd when someone from abroad mentions they know someone from Barking. Despite it being London, it's like it's satisfying knowing someone got out!
Its not a glamour's area but it has good transport links to central London & house prices are still relatively cheap. The schools are pretty good and there are nice shopping centers very close. I moved here about 20 years ago because I wanted to stay in London as I didn't like the idea of commuting from Kent or Essex to work and this was the only area I could afford to buy a house for my growing family.
Love this show but in decades of telly shows about london my borough always ignored,London borough of Sutton, challenge deweyen! Hope thats spelt right
I moved from Barking to the Coast of East Riding 4 years ago...The town centre looks awful. It was always full of litter and awful shop fronts. Looks like a shanty town
Great video thanks. I’m glad you touched on the Essex thing, got it spot on and hope you cover plenty more of the London boroughs east of the river lee formerly in the county of Essex . My Nan and Mum were born in West Ham Essex and I was born in London 🤪 nice you mentioned the fishing too 👊🏻👊🏻👊🏻
I saw my ex house I lived in barking 10 years Nothing interesting there, bookies everywhere I’m so glad to escape from that country who took my best years
I always say grey hairs marks wisdom in old fellas like us. Good job once again Dewyne. Tell Yeth his soundtrack has some needed soul, especially for this new year. Love the Easter Eggs this time around. 0:46 Flying styrofoam, and 5:39 Moonwalking lady. Can't wait for more videos.
I was born in Barking Hospital. Shame that it's turned into an unsafe shithole -- my gf lives there now and frequently gets harassed by drunks when she comes out of the station.
I was forced to move in an awful ground floor flat over there in November 1993! I hated the flat, and the private landlord who owns/owned the property was, and still is, an unscrupulous b*st*rd!
Easy see that COVID is going on , the streets are clean , it’s usually a rubbish tip awash with rubbish on the streets, market days are the best , it’s a sea of rubbish then, the counsel sends in rubbish trucks and a team to clean up after them, that tax payers have to foot the bill for, why can’t the traders be made to clean up what they leave and people fined for littering the streets? Labour for you👍
Barking is a dump. The only places I like is the coffee shop at the station and the park before 10am Nothing else is good. Way too many plebs , plastic gangsters , fat ugly slobs & constant bad language, litter & graffiti . I used to live there and relieved when I got out.
Love the lady having fun at 3:48
Full of life she was.
@@LondonDistricts She’s Joyce, I’ve known her for years.
Love the barking in the intro. I see what you did there 😁

Cheeky old lady half way through, good to see in these times!
Very nice lady.
Nothing like the Barking of my youth sadly, horrible dangerous place!
Thank you for uploading this wanted a bit of history revolving around barking as I live nearby very interesting.
Glad it was helpful!
Really nicely done and your voice is so soothing. 😘 I was born and bred in Barking but moved away in 1999.
Why?
My aunties lived in Barking for over 40 years, and we used to think it was so posh back then!
I learned so much. Thanks for this!
You are so welcome!

That was very informative and interesting. You know your onions. As an old local girl I liked it.👍
Another awesome film. I’m actually watching your work on London Live. Good stuff, keep it up!
Hey Duncan, nice to hear from you. Will do, stay tuned.
Just discovered your series about London. Love it! Very nicely done! Hope you will keep on posting. Subscribed!

Thank you for your video. Very informative.
Hello Dewyne. This is a fascinating video. I really enjoyed it. Thank you.
The pleasure is ours. Cheers!

How sad to see this once lovely town; where I was born, brought up and married (at St.Margaret’s) turned into a complete cesspit.
50p fine for being drunk seems a fair deal. I'm off to a Barking pub then.
I haven't been to Barking since 1997.
Lucky you! you wouldn't recognise it.
Don't go back, you'll probably get stabbed or something 😂
Such a sad deprived part of London.

I really like the music! What’s the song name?

Same here, after year 2000 it got even worse, never been the same in Barking since.
I like east london

The best thing about Barking is the road out off there
Been in decline since the 6th Century
oh looks lovely must think about moving back NOT
Barking, Essex.
@@ListenUp-py1qm ?

Ain't what I remeber now. Characters all gone.
You can sing it and look what they have been replaced with

2010 Barking had it's chance, and failed.
Yep that election was rigged
