Anika Nilles Interview

  • Nick D'Virgilio is joined by drummer Anika Nilles amidst her current drum clinic tour. If you had to classify her work, it's a mixture of pop, rock, and fusion, but the most important element in her music is always "the groove!" Her use of the drum set as an expressive instrument, rather than just a rhythm keeper, allows for some extravagant playing without stealing the focus away from the music.

    I love her answer about being a female drummer. We're all musicians, not male or female, black, brown, white...whatever. She's a great drummer. Period.

    • @FanaticDrummer
      @FanaticDrummer 5 років тому +6

      Thr33Guns She is. But she doesn’t play like a female drummer. And we all know what that looks like. Good or not, the way she plays is what takes the female out of peoples minds when they see her play. Other female drummers definitely play like 98% of the female drummers out there.

    Great interview. Prior to her now playing with Jeff Beck in 2022!
    I love your, her, drumming. Its definitely based in rock, with other time signatures mixed in.
    I feel like you are really inspiring Jeff's playing, and bringing things out of him with your powerful, inspired drumming.
    Awesome. Rock on Anika- human playing drums!

    WOW! Loved this interview. Anika's talent is ridiculous. ...So cool to hear she's been influenced by Mike Portnoy's Dream Theater days, and how she set up her cymbals the Chris Coleman style. I can listen to Nevell all day. Just a wonderful funk to the music. She's yet another stellar talent who proves you can get an amazing variety of tones and textures from a smaller kit.

    Just a suggestion, the interview and talking is great and love the gear and Tama portion and background of the artist but I wish there was a little more playing, maybe let the artist play one play along in the middle of the interview where nick just steps out of the way and lets the artist play. Pleaseeee Need to get Matt garstka or the entire band animals as leaders in for one of these jam session/interviews

      Tama doesnt pay. They just have the best artist relation division and supply drummers anywhere they need a kit. Just like Sabian and Remo does. Endorsements arent about pay, its about support that helps you get the job done without paying out of pocket everywhere you go.

    I don't have drum skills at all, but thank God that I have ear skills and a good taste! You play wonderfully good Anika, God bless you in Jesus name Amen! If you aint a christian yet, I pray that you get born again! I would love to hear you in Heaven one day : ) Please Jesus make it happen, and Holy Spirit make Anika get in love with you in Jesus name I pray, if she aint already, because if she isn't, then it can't happen! Anika if you ever reading this, this is not weird stuff, it is real and true, Jesus loves you. He loves us all, and He wants us to be dead to sin and alive in Him as new creations in His righteousness! Only in Him even if our body dies by this virus or by something else, we will live forever thanks to His fulfillment of God's law in our place, so invite Him inside of you! No fear for death, we all will go that road eventually.
    Jesus said, even if our bodie dies, we will live forever with Him. We who already are, and everyone who becomes His are only visitors here on earth. In Jesus Christ, this fallen world is no longer our home, but the Kingdom of Heaven is our new home, and it is already within us, thanks to our Savior Jesus Christ!
