a lot of the issues found in this video are probably because you're using an emulator and not hardware, cuz Blue Sphere runs pretty well on my 3DS and Lite, nowhere near as horrible as showed here
Are you playing this on actual hardware? I have the game on cartridge and have never had this many issues. Slight frame drops but nothing like the minigames you showed.
EXACTLY! Like common, the emulation he had mustve been terrible bc it runs very well on dsi and 3ds. I cant actually vouch for ds at this momment in time... Regardless, the only game that gives me slight frame issues is sonic 1 during times when u go across alot of rings (like green hill 1). Other than that... VERY minor issue
I had no problems with the game when I had it. It looks like you used emulation, which ofc DS emulation isn't going to be great at times. It's perfectly for a Collection. I think you were generally a bit too rough with it, tbh.

However, I can at least vouch for the framerate issues in the normal sidescrolling levels being accurate to how it runs on real original DS or DS Lite hardware. However, if you're playing on a DSi (or 3DS), as you and others have stated in the comments, you probably won't experience any of these framerate dips. The DSi had a significantly faster CPU than the prior DS models, an increase from 67mhz up to 133mhz. There was a very small handful of games released late in the DS' life cycle that could detect when it was played on a DSi and could access this additional performance. Sonic Classic Collection was one of these games, so playing on DSi/3DS will cause the games to run extremely smoothly.

Sonic classic collection on my old ds lite is actually how i first experienced classic sonic as a kid. Might've actually been the first sonic i played. 1 or 2 was definitely the first i ever completed. Ah, the good days of 2010
I think it's a little unfair to judge the game when you're playing on an emulator. Most of these issues are due to not using real hardware. My DS plays this game just fine, especially Blue Spheres.
The screen fading to black .-. I remember on my original DS that the game would crash like this had the card been removed. Your card might've had a faulty connection. If I remember correctly, the 3ds doesn't keep the game up after any card is removed.

You have to judge the titles relative to their release date (not every game will become a timeless classic like Chrono Trigger). At the time of this tile's release date, it offered a collection of the classic Sonic Games at 2/3 the MSRP of a regular DS game - that run on an underpowered,portable console (with a few hiccups, true). That's a pretty impressive feat if you ask me.

But on DS and DS lite, it runs perfectly. I never had it slow down at all like it does in this video. This might an emulation error on your end.
The special stages for sonic 3 are DEFINITELY bad. I have a physical copy of the game and it looks JUST like that. It can still be played, but JEEZ what went wrong with the developers?

this was techincally the first Sonic game i ever played, though the one i played full on and not in a collection was the Mobile version of Sonic CD

I honestly have played this game on both emulator & ds. I’m 90% sure your emulating classic collection.
I've never ever had any of these except for crashing, it's perfectly fine on a 3ds, I've fully completed all games and found not many bugs
