All of the "Evolution of..." videos are done as a single take, no edits, no cuts. They perform the entire medley several times (usually about 4) and then pick the one that they think is best to be published. Not only are their transitions between songs flawless, but I find it really interesting to watch a single member of the Trio standing in the back row - Mitch, Scott, Kirstin or Kirstie (rhymes with thirsty) and see how they will transition instantly from singing a solo to moving back to harmony with whoever else isn't singing the current solo. Those three have been singing together for at least 15 years now (although somewhat less when this video was shot), and they know each other so well that they don't even have to look at each other to know what the other ones are doing. Kirstie can perform a really powerful "belt" and can make an impact if you're not expecting someone her size to be such a strong voice. Some examples are Hallelujah, Amazing Grace, Say Something, Shallow.
Definitely check out their “Evolution of” videos. Michael Jackson, Rihanna, Arianna Grande. To hear Kirstie SING, check out their cover of “Shallow”. Dare I say, she gives Lady GaGa a run for her money on that one!
Thank you for the great reaction to this early Pentatonix video. Kirstin has a very powerful voice and really shines in every song, in my opinion. It doesn't matter whether she is lead, singing harmony, singing background,, etc., she is always amazing. "Evolution Of Rhianna" is my favorite Evolution Of... video. Please react to it when you get time.
They're known for their amazing arrangements and flawless transitions. I love how they all let each other shine, no one trying to be in the spotlight etc. Great reaction as always, thank you!
Kirstin or Kirstie rhymes with thirsty, Scott (tall blonde), Mitch of the famous Mitch slap, Kevin beatboxer, Avi the Bass. Evolution of Michael Jackson and Evolution of Rihanna are my favorite Evolutions of.. They also have a couple on the Superfruit channel (Mitch and Scott’s side project). They have one for Miley Cyrus on Superfruit.
They also have another Evolution of Lady Gaga on Scott and Mitch's Superfruit channel. As well as loads of fun, sometimes NSFW videos of songs with friends and with each other.
Kirstie does have a powerful voice, but I think she needs it to hold her own among all the men. They are all extremely talented. We are lucky to have them.
Subscribed! You are a great reactor, appreciate your soft spoken voice and honest reactions. Continue on with your PTX journey. Also, their former bass Avi Kaplan (bottom left in the video) has some amazing solo work I’d love to hear you react to. I am sure you have heard this before, but you have a striking resemblance to Jason Momoa. 😎 Checking out more of your reactions!
Yes their evolution videos are great. Michael Jackson is my favorite. I also like their cover of No by Meghan Trainor. It's not an evolution video but filmed the same way. I find the individual voices stand out more. Also hope you react to Avi's solo music soon. Change on the Rise is his most popular or his latest When I'm a Fool live from Sunset Sound studios. Cheers!
i think la la latch is my favorite mash up of theirs. they sing all genres of music and there is original music too, which i like a lot. you should look at their site to see what they sing and pick something really want to hear and something you can imagine being a capella or something you hate. i hate christmas music but i'll listen to theirs.
You should check out their 'Sing Off (season 3)' performances. They do an amazing job on some of the mashup's that they did during the competition with such a small amount of time to make the arrangements and it's great to see how they started out and their evolution of becoming who they are today is so awesome!
Great reaction! The Evolution videos are great and showcase the groups' versatility. All of them have exceptional voices and massive ranges ...4 octaves at least. Scott ( tall blond guy) can go from taking over the bass while the bass is leading a verse, to a fantastic falsetto that he can actually sing in. Kirstie is the belter of the group and a mezzo soprano with a great higher register. Mitch is a natural countertenor with a range from low alto to the same range as Kirstie. Avi breaks speakers with his low that sounds like a full blast foghorn. And even Kevin has a sweet tenor and can compete with Mitch and Kirstie in reaching the ceiling.
I'm enjoying your reactions to PTX. You really can't go wrong with any of their songs, because each one has amazed me over the years. Please, also check out Avi Kaplan's solo work. (He left PTX in 2017.)
Love your reactions! I’m definitely enjoying watching you especially since you could be my son’s twin. 😊 You should check out New Rules x Are You That Somebody, Problem, and The Sound of Silence. Actually you will not find a single song/video in their catalog that is not totally awesome! Please keep reacting to Pentatonix!
Holy crap, Batman! I love these live in-studio videos. Minimal production, maximum talent. As someone else mentioned, they run through the entire son three or four times and then choose the one they want to post. There’s a behind the scenes video of them recording one of these, but I’m not sure which one. If I can find it, I’ll come back and add it. Loved your reaction, and I can’t wait for more Pentatonix. Peace from Ohio … It’s on the Endless Noise studios channel and it’s the Evolution of Beyoncé, in case you want to check it out.
If you need a good laugh, out Superfruit (which is just 2 members of PTX - Scott the tall blond and Mitch the counter tenor) perform ""Hip Hop Goes Broadway Parts 1 & 2". You'll never look at Broadway or Hip Hop the same way again....

So happy that you’re getting to the evolution videos! Evolution of Beyoncé and Evolution of Michael Jackson are fantastic

in an interview they did they said they did this by ear when arranging it, they didn't write any sheet music...they ARE the pinnacle of a cappella
Evolution if Michael Jackson is awesome too! The Evolution videos are all one-shot recordings. They do a few recordings, then puck the best one! 😅
Kirstie also really shines on Shallow and on Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone

If you want to hear the power of Kirstie's voice, I suggest Shallow. Beautifully done upgrade!
and he says "I'm definitely going to check out some more evolution stuff" and imma 💯 here for that
PLUS check out Superfruit evolutions 🔥🙌🏻
Kirstie does have a powerful voice, but I think she needs it to hold her own among all the men. They are all extremely talented. We are lucky to have them.
I miss that Prince wasn’t included. I would give anything to hear Mitch sing Prince!!
"Holy crap"....made me laugh 🤣 Love your reactions!!! Can't wait for more!!!

They truly are some of the most talented people I've ever heard.

Recommend their live four song set from Popspring 2016. They sing three original songs plus The Evolution of Michael Jackson.

"holy crap" is right. Their magic power (besides all fabulous voices) is their unique sound and energy when molded into one perfect symphony.
I'm enjoying your reactions to PTX. You really can't go wrong with any of their songs, because each one has amazed me over the years. Please, also check out Avi Kaplan's solo work. (He left PTX in 2017.)
Glad to have found you - appreciate your brevity, and expressive facial and verbal response
Evolution of Michael Jackson is my fave

Great reaction ❤
