He's a good actor don't get me wrong but for me he never really pushes the boundaries into truly phenomenal as someone like Daniel Day Lewis, Sean Penn, Gary Oldman, Christian Bale, Joaquin Phoenix, Robert De Niro (and many others) can and have done. Even when he "transforms" himself such as in Django Unchained he doesn't completely transform himself. There's still that underlying DiCaprio and that is what, imo, makes a truly phenomenal actor. Yes, he's a consistently good actor maybe even a consistently great actor but the greatest? Nah. I'm still waiting for that role that blows me away. Saying that I haven't seen What's Eating Gilbert Grape and I hear he's awesome in that so...
