Letterman made this interview so hard, he certainly didn't try to go easy on the young actor but Leo dealt pretty well with it... I don't think I could get through a story with so many interruptions, I’d have to make a joke to cover and move onto something else.
Leo's portrayal of the mentally disabled character Arnie Grape in What's Eating Gilbert Grape was one of the greatest performances in cinematic history. He obviously didn't. Dave was acting the fool here and constantly interrupting, like an obnoxious drunk at a bad party. This was Dicaprio's final appearance on Letterman for a reason.
There’s actually a bit more to the story of how Leo got his name: when his mother was pregnant with him, she was looking at a Leonardo de Vinci painting and that was the moment Leo first kicked. Also, although Leo is part German and Italian, for some reason, he has said that he is “half Russian”
when I first moved to Hollywood Hills in '94 I would jog in the mornings and very often Leo would ride past me on an old banana bike on his way back from the AFI center. good time to be living here then.

This dude is so classy and dynamic at such a young age. IT's cool how you see his real personality come out here.
