Congratulations for this car ! Looks perfect for a 69 car ! The paint is wonderfull , engine runs strong and interior looks so nice ! I love old model vettes ! This video its a fine job too !
I've said it before and have to say it again, you guys are really excellent and if I ever get a chance to return to owning a Corvette, I'd buy from you. Corvette Mike in CA best take notice of you guys. Thanks for the great videos
If you're looking to get a bargain 'Vette, look for originality and records; many of the older unrestored cars that we get in here have years and years of records telling the car's history. Watch for rust in the birdcage area and get a car with a clean frame. The deals are out there, if you're willing to search!
Appreciate the compliment Russell -- hopefully we can get you back in a Corvette someday, but we'll keep the videos coming in the meantime. Thanks for watching!
"Car Life" magazine lists the top speed of a 1969 L88 427ci Convertible with an automatic transmission and 3.36 rear-end at 151 mph. I'd imagine it'd be a little higher with a modern transmission.
I do believe the 2x3 was a marketing ploy during the horse-power wars of the 60's and early 70's. It was marketed as fuel efficient they would say you only need two barrels for good fuel economy and the other four were there when you needed extra power
You mention braided steel ignition wires in the video, they where used on big-block cars with radios and should reduce radio interference from the ignition system and came as standard in 1970-1972
@LandRoverWay23 Wouldn't doubt that at all...GM frequently underrates its hp on many of its cars. The 430hp L88 cars were rumored to actually put out 560hp or something ridiculous like that.
@tabese Theoretically 144-151 mph depending on the transmission, according to automobile-catalog (dot com) . Numbers may vary based on rear-end ratio as well, and of course how well the car is running as well as conditions.
You might be on to something -- however, I'm just the "web guy", and as far as I know, we usually just replace the whole caliper assembly for liability and aesthetic reasons rather than rebuild them. Nonetheless, the issue with the C3 calipers is that they leak, which means that there is at least one seal in there that consistently fails. I would post your question on the C3 section of Corvette Forum, you should get some responses there.
i have a friend who works as a mechanic and a guy brought in a 69 stingray with a 427 in it and they dino tested it with a reading of 550 horsepower, and then my jaw dropped
@JAMESS30288 We do have a '71 LT1 Convertible in stock that can be seen on our website -- would need a full resto to be a show car, but it's all there and numbers matching.
Sidepipes can be added to any C3 (1968-82). They were a factory option in 1969, so many repro and used parts are available. Additionally, Hooker sells a new kit that comes with the longtube headers and sidepipes for the cars. I think it runs about $1500.
Tri-Power carbs will work on a non-Tri-Power car as long as the Tri-Power intake is used. As far as performance, a Tri-Power setup is not going to make more horsepower than a modern well-tuned four barrel. Multiple carburetor setups have always been exotic, and at one point could have been considered somewhat of a status symbol. Additionally, they have always been difficult to tune, and persons qualified to work on such a setup are becoming more and more difficult to find.
Sidepipes were never standard, and always optioned in extremely low numbers from the factory -- most cars that you see with sidepipes today have had them added. In theory, you can put any engine in any car; it's just a matter of making everything fit. Big block conversions require different accessories for the engine, larger radiator, different springs, and a few other odds and ends.
and i forgot to mention that that is a really good price for a big blocks corvette thats 40 years old and just about everything in it is original and all the interior appliances work and it has good traction and sound marvilous and ye really are good sales people
Wow - this really is in great shape. I think this is a later '69 car because the interior is slightly different to mine, which was registered in Jan '69. I'd love that 427 in mine!
@redghost105 If it's numbers matching and the correct colors without a ton of aftermarket or custom parts and has a solid frame, that's a ridiculously good price for a 427 car.
@tricolor707 This car was a mildly restored but mostly original car, and sold for around $60,000 if I remember correctly. As far as restoring, it really depends on how nice the car is that you're starting with...a concours NCRS quality restoration on a basket case can cost $100,000. If you're starting with a good driver quality car that runs and drives and is mostly original and you don't need NCRS quality, you can probably get most of the work done for under $30,000.
@ztwntyn8 Yeah, these cars need to be regularly driven for maximum running efficiency...it's just kinda hard to do when you've got 120 of them. Man, I wonder if anyone would drive our cars for us if we paid them....
@buyavettedotnet ok thanks...i once found one for about 13,000 and it was in good shape i dont know if its a scam or if it really is 13k would 13k seem like a good price?
Right...1968-82 Corvettes are notorious for leaking brake calipers if they're not regularly driven. If you don't have your hands firmly on the wheel and you hit the brakes with a leaking caliper, the car can violently turn itself into the curb or oncoming traffic. I get what you're saying though, it definitely looks like 'wtf' hands.
But is it possible to get more power? And i mean if it would generate more power than standard four barrel as the 427 have, that's what i mean. Or will it at least affect the sound? But what is the advantage of Tri-Power setup compared to standard four barrel carburator of the 427? I'am very curius.
Thanks for the warning I have a ´69 with leaking calipers, I change the rubber on each cilinder from the caliper for a round shape "o" rings brake liquid resistant, and until now I have no leaks, but I´m not 100% sure about my fix. each time I drive the car I inspect the brakes before. do you think the square shape "o" rings from corvettes central is my solution?
@buyavettedotnet thanks , i thought it would be at least 140 with depending on the gear , somebody commented on the wall street journal site, about a vette doin 130 and a porsche went by at 140 so i figured the vette was a small block so thats what brought me to ask anyway save the wave
Lay down a run instead of it has this option or that. Only buyer are interested in lame options and how the guages work. I'm burned out on people working the prices of these old cars up. I can now get good money out of my old cars but I love them and will never be able to replace them. Sit that car in a museum and look at it... that's about like keeping a grayhound in a cage for life. Lame....
Consigned car...owner would be very upset if he saw that were dogging the crap out of it in a video. Also we get fired with no questions asked if we spin the tires in any car.
+John Adams Sorry that you found the title misleading -- we would get probably close to zero views if I titled it "1969 Corvette 427 Sales Pitch" though.
guys i have just a body of corvette 1967 and i want to build it,but i cant find a clear corvette engine.what do you think about a hundae 1800CC engin on it?
If that was a 427 Ford Cobra the owner would not be talking about the chrome, the options or the tires. He'd be too busy blowing the doors off Vettes. This guy is a fruit
Congratulations for this car ! Looks perfect for a 69 car ! The paint is wonderfull , engine runs strong and interior looks so nice ! I love old model vettes ! This video its a fine job too !

i think that a corvette will be my first real muscle car and the start of a long collection
You guys get some great Vettes! Thank you for doing a test drive video. I love to see cool cars in action!

the guy who designed this car is a HERO its just EPIC
If I own a stingray sometime in my life, I can die happy.

my uncles 69 L88 says something like 400 hp at some lower rpm, had it dyno at higher rpm with 508 hp
@LandRoverWay23 Wouldn't doubt that at all...GM frequently underrates its hp on many of its cars. The 430hp L88 cars were rumored to actually put out 560hp or something ridiculous like that.

@ianisgreek Thanks! It was easily one of the nicest '69s we've ever had in our inventory.

I had a 70 small block, but always dreamed of the 427 big block car. This one is a beauty...yum yum!
Yes, we are located in Atlanta.
@1973StingrayVette Thanks! We appreciate you watching them as well.
my dad has a 1969 corvette as well. but its a 350 not a 400. however, he bumped up the horse power to around 435 i think! it should be done this week

@Fastracing Thanks Fastracing! This car was definitely one of my favorite C3s that we've had here.

unbelievable. I gotta have one like this some day. like I always say, theres the Corvette, then theres everything else
my dad had one like this in miami at palm island, with the 350 smallblock convertible... my fav car of all times
@GOUGOUNETTE Sold for $65,900.
Friends dad had one of these... Worth big money
Sure is! Come check out our showroom sometime if you're close by!
@redghost105 If it's numbers matching and the correct colors without a ton of aftermarket or custom parts and has a solid frame, that's a ridiculously good price for a 427 car.
thank you for the sweet ride
thanks man and ye must have the biggest selections of vettes in the usa and mabey in the world!
@tricolor707 This car was a mildly restored but mostly original car, and sold for around $60,000 if I remember correctly.

@tabese No problem. Yeah, most of these older muscle cars are limited more by gearing than anything else when it comes to top speed.
Nice, sounds like you made a little fortune there.
Didn't make much on this one -- the consignee's price was a little higher than we normally like to mark them, which left little room for profit.
This car sold a few years back in the mid-50s...I would estimate its retail value today to be in the mid to upper 40s.
What a nice car!
@redghost105 If you've gotta have a big block, drivers still start at about $30k. If you can deal with a small block, you can find one for under $20k.
@buyavettedotnet in the drop of a hat i would be there to drive these beautiful works of art
thanks for the feedback,,, I would love to have a car like that,, or even enjoy restoring,,
Nice, Well Optioned Car. Good investment if Properly Cared for.
Nice car,, If for sale and available,, whats the asking price?? or how much is a car like this worth??
@ztwntyn8 Yeah, these cars need to be regularly driven for maximum running efficiency...it's just kinda hard to do when you've got 120 of them. Man, I wonder if anyone would drive our cars for us if we paid them....
Sorry guys, this one sold a few months ago for $65,900.
@buyavettedotnet ok thanks...i once found one for about 13,000 and it was in good shape

would 13k seem like a good price?
Amazing car.

What does a car like that, with matching all around with those options, price wise, go for?
thats my dream car!
But is it possible to get more power?

Or will it at least affect the sound?
But what is the advantage of Tri-Power setup compared to standard four barrel carburator of the 427?
I'am very curius.
@buyavettedotnet how much do these cars go for?
like im looking for one that isnt in perfect shape but not in bad shape either
Im going to buy one of those old cool fashion corvettes when im 24
Does Tripower carbs fit on the ZL-1 427 ?
If so, would it be much better than the 4 barrel carb it got stock?
If your going to go to the trouble of changing the manifold for a new setup why not go for the 2x4?
Thanks for the warning I have a ´69 with leaking calipers, I change the rubber on each cilinder from the caliper for a round shape "o" rings brake liquid resistant, and until now I have no leaks, but I´m not 100% sure about my fix.

We are asking $65,900 for this car.
Lay down a run instead of it has this option or that. Only buyer are interested in lame options and how the guages work. I'm burned out on people working the prices of these old cars up. Yep...$65K makes a big difference!
@Miguelsr1rst I'd say it's a little better than the Chevelle just by default...it weighs about 500 lbs less.
the reason you temp guage isnt working properly is because you probably didnt let it warm up. just one reason cars brake.
that steering wheel is HUGE
love the tri power
dont the 67's have sidepipes? and yeah, family member of mine has a 69, and in theory he could put in a big block if he wanted to?
That store is alongside I85 isn't it?
Thanks!
i wish my silver anniversary (1978) vette looked and sounded this nice. but thats the difference between the car i paid 1500 for and this 427/435 car.
@russnord Hmm....would you mind commuting to Atlanta?
$65,900 is our asking price.
what is the top end speed on these say with the road gear ?
Consigned car...owner would be very upset if he saw that were dogging the crap out of it in a video. Also we get fired with no questions asked if we spin the tires in any car.
@NirvanaRock44 They are sweet cars for sure.
Thanks for watching!
does anyone know the top speed of a 69-72 427 big block corvette?
Test drive? It sure looks and sounds like just another sales pitch for an old Vette. Please title your video accurately.
+John Adams Sorry that you found the title misleading -- we would get probably close to zero views if I titled it "1969 Corvette 427 Sales Pitch" though.
wats the price
vintage supreme
I love cast iron frame cars
@buyavettedotnet Ridiculous? How about...sublime!
Sure I will.
rpm is the variable, not the ci
@buyavettedotnet
HAH i love this
@themrpumpdaddy1 Lol, goodbye traction! Nice.
good mpg with that
sweet car but expected more performance.. prob needs a power tune.
id rather a convertible personally but nonetheless beautiful car
Sure we would :) Sweet azz Vette :)
guys i have just a body of corvette 1967 and i want to build it,but i cant find a clear corvette engine.what do you think about a hundae 1800CC engin on it?
This is better than porn
@trainwreck72 LOL, yeah no one else is allowed to like this video, or I will make you un-like it!
@buyavettedotnet I'll take that job!
If that was a 427 Ford Cobra the owner would not be talking about the chrome, the options or the tires. He'd be too busy blowing the doors off Vettes. This guy is a fruit
Go to 6:50, put on captions. The fuck..?
@hollerbacktyler ~55,000
250 Kmh at best (140-150 mph)
