I love it! Of course it helps that your cane is so perfect LOL! And what a totally logical/clever tip to use TLS to aid in positioning. Thanks so much for sharing!!
Hi, I know this is an old video but so glad it's still here! Do you pre-heat the oven then put the glass in? Or put the glass in while pre-heating? I'm afraid of the glass cracking while baking. Thanks so much!
Hi there! Polymer clay bakes at a low temperature, so the glass won't heat up to a cracking point. :) I like to put my items in a cold oven, bring to temperature according to the clay package instructions, and cure for one hour. This article explains more about baking :) thebluebottletree.com/baking-polymer-clay/
Jenny -- I LOVE the way you've decorated that bottle. I have always just baked the PC on the glass so that it takes the shape of the glass, then after baking and cooling, popped the designs off and superglued them back on (because my experience with PC and glass is that it isn't permanent -- it breaks off eventually.) This looks much easier, does the TLS help to make it last longer on the glass? My students have a problem with superglue.
Hi Beverly! Thanks for your nice comments! I find that using the TLS provides a pretty good bond. I haven't had a mishap yet! I also love the TLS because you can moooooove the clay around before deciding on the final spot. Makes it much easier I find! :) ~Jenny
You can use a paint brush in the alcohol and keep wiping it on a cloth, would be more precise than the Q-tip and easier, each dip wipe glass then brush on a paper towel, etc.
Beautiful cane work. and nice tutorial. have you ever did this same technique with Fimo Deco gel? I only wonder because deco gel dries pretty much transparent (even more so than TSL) jus in case you get glue that goops out on the side that way you dont have as much clean up. Also would you say the clay adheres better in the way in the video vs jus adding the clay directly to the class piece?
Thanks so much for your kind comments! I haven't tried the Fimo gel-but I might now! :) I find using the translucent liquid helps to get the cane slices to slide around nicely so you can get them where they need to go. Sticking just to the glass works just fine, but you don't get that sliding action to help move them around. I like that. It would work either way tho. :)
Wishing Well Workshop ha jus realised I already followed you on here after this video :) then later on fb. and now on PC amino :) thanks for the videos
That is absolutely stunning! The cane work and how it looks on the bottle - just beautiful! How long will the clay stay stuck to the bottle? Does it fall off easily with handling? Reason I'm asking is because I always wanted to cover glass candlestick holders and was told that the clay would not stay on for very long.
Lynn thanks so much for your nice comments! The Liquid clay really should keep the clay on the glass well. If it ever feels loose a bit of superglue will strengthen the bond. It shouldn't fall off easily as long as it's not handled too roughly. :) Thanks for watching!
lol you sounded like you was doing a commercial for TLS. did they sponsor the video? if you use less TLS you'd have less mess, less steps, and it won't slide around more than you want it. a little bit a long way. ;) beautiful cane slices by the way
TLS cures clear, but it's kind of a muddy clear. If you don't wipe the excess you might be able to see it after curing, so do a little test and see how you like it!
So glad you like it! I don't have a tutorial for the cane itself, but my pal Teresa Salgado offers fantastic caning tutorials! I hope you can check out her awesome channel! :) ua-cam.com/users/SuperClaygirlvideos
Putting TLS all over the glass made a mess and my pieces slid around too much. Plus the extra step of having to wipe off the excess TLS. I just put TLS on the back of each slice--way less mess and waste.
I’m just learning this and having so much fun. I love all the wonderful tutorials on You Tube. Thanks so much for doing the videos .
I am so happy you enjoy polymer clay, Elisabeth! It's so much fun, isn't it? Thanks for your nice note! :)

Beautiful cane work!
Thank you so much!!!

Very kind of you :)
Your cane is beautiful ! great work; it's crisp, and the color stands out so well. honestly I've never seen a better crafted cane.

I noticed this comment was a year ago. I was wondering how the TLS is holding up.
Lovely project!
Thank you Ms. Teresa! :)

Hello thanks for sharing this nice video how long did you leave your bottle in the oven.
Thank you very much!! I usually cure my pieces for an hour, but always refer to your clay package instructions for baking times and temperature. :)

Hi !! Great video !! Could I use this technique on glass ball ornaments ?
Hi there! I'm glad you like the video! Thank you! This technique would be great with glass ornaments! :)
Beautiful 👏🏻💗👏🏻💗👏🏻💗
So sweet of you, Shelly! Thank you!
Lovely cane! Can the Liquidtex be used with Sculpey glazes?
Yes, liquid clay can be used and then glazed :)
Wow! That was really cool! I had a question about the glass bottle though, do you think this would work on thin glass as well? Perhaps a wine glass?
Glad you like the video! You can use this technique on all types of glass, including wine glasses. :)
Would bake and bond work in the place of tls? For the movement and adhering? In case I sell some I dont want ppl to have to reglue pieces ^^;;
bake and bond works, but when it cures it can have a white, milky look to it that liquid clay doesn't . But yes, that would work, too.
Beautiful!
Thank you! :)

it actually waisted the TLS also if you think about it. that could have done two or three more glass pieces if you use it just on the slices
Great tips! Thanks!
If the TLS ends up clear is it really necessary to remove the excess?
TLS cures clear, but it's kind of a muddy clear. If you don't wipe the excess you might be able to see it after curing, so do a little test and see how you like it!
@@wishingwellworkshop8130 Thank you!
From what I believe from Teresa, you really don't need to us the liquid sculpey, all though I probably can make it easier to
rearrange the pieces.
Hi, is there instructions on how you made this cane? As I would like to make it.
I didn't make a tutorial for the cane, but the colors I used are in the description box. :)
Wishing Well Workshop I would love to learn how to make that cane if you feel like doing it again please...its beautiful!
Thank you
:)
is there a tutorial on this gorgeous cane?
So glad you like it! I don't have a tutorial for the cane itself, but my pal Teresa Salgado offers fantastic caning tutorials! I hope you can check out her awesome channel! :) ua-cam.com/users/SuperClaygirlvideos
You don't seem worried by fingerprints -- is that right?
Not really worried about fingerprints at all. I can just use a little rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab to erase those away. So yes, that's right.
Putting TLS all over the glass made a mess and my pieces slid around too much. Plus the extra step of having to wipe off the excess TLS. I just put TLS on the back of each slice--way less mess and waste.
Great plan! :)
It seems a waste of tls having to clean it off better to just put tls on clay
You're right! I've since modified my method. Thanks for the tip, Janet! :)
