  • Translucent cane is fascinating on glass. You can use it with electric light, battery lights or sunshine. If you like the tools shown here, my webstore has Canebenders, Squarebenders and lots more. www.tinypandor...
    www.lucyclaysto... LC Slicer
    Polymer Clay: www.sculpey.com
Supply List: 2oz (1 pkg) each of Sculpey Premo Polymer Clay in:
Peacock Pearl/Bright Green Pearl/Purple Pearl/(Pearl/White/ Translucent. One pinch of ultramarine blue to whiten the translucent. I glass bottle or other heat-proof object to cover. You will need a sharp cutting blade like the Sculpey Super Slicer; or if you plan to do a lot of caning projects, particularly translucent caning, go to www.lucyclaysto... and take a look at the LC Slicer, the state of the art way to cut clay.

Just a quick paper tip for international viewers, GLAD make pre-cut baking paper sheets you can buy in the supermarket. I prefer them again because the dont curl up on you. They come in a box of 100 sheets and its really handy you can pull one free one handed if you need a free hand. Hope this helps!

It's a treat to watch and learn from you, Teresa :). One question on the bottle project: Should something like Bake & Bond or TLS or liquid Kato clay be spread onto the glass prior to laying out the cane tiles, for better adhesion? Or is the clay-glass bond strong enough without that?

I really love working with clay but I never really tried caning except once maybe twice and both times I didn't like it but the way you do it is so much different that I think I might try it again. I want to try to make a paisley project.

Thank you so much for your FREE TIME. Such a beautiful selections of colors. I'm anxious to try all of these suggestions but until I've made my first "jellyroll" "triangle" or "reduced" a cane, would you please help me out by sending me back to the end of the line (or the beginning as it may be for a beginner) so I can learn those things? Where do I begin?

Do you have an image in your head of what you want the end product to look like before you start making it or do you just decide on the color scheme & go from there?

Hi, Theresa! I am curious as to the curing of this piece. Is there a toaster oven big enough or do you use a full size kitchen range?

Lena Bowers that’s a chess board, I wish I still had it. Now I use a glass mat from We R Memory Keepers. You can get them at craft stores in the scrapbook section or on Amazon.
