I cut mine out about 7 months ago. I used a Dremel with the same results. I've never looked back. I use my Shoalie primarily for skinny water river/creek camping and that was a must mod to do. I'm interested to know if you have any packing tips for your camping trips. I'm trying to shed weight and would be interested to know your thoughts.
Aw! Thanks! Yeah, I am considering starting a new channel, “FJ Colby” where I make vids about simple diy mods to my FJ cruiser…we’ll see… thanks for the comment!
I was about to buy the LT2 mostly for the storage and then saw someone cut the hatch out of the Shoalie, then I was sold. I’ll be doing this soon. Once I cut it out, I’m going to try to put a heat gun to it and slightly bend the lips of removed hatch and the kayak in toward each other, so that I can just lay the hatch back in if I want to smaller, easily accessible storage on day trips.
How about gluing enough foam on the bottom so the to lip of the "tray' is about 1/2 an inch above the cut line...then just drop it in and it is held in place?
I did some plastic heating and bending, but the results weren’t the greatest. I can slip the hatch cut out in the spot where I cut it out, and it stays put pretty good. It was hard to pull out so I put a handle on it. Of course I had to remove the rod tubes.
What do you guys think? Let me know!
That Titanic joke is a great way to break the ice... and the boat!
Bruh
Man that’s a ton of room! Also good to see dad in another video! What can’t he do?
Nothing in those 608’s

Stay tuned. Once life slows down, I plan on doing that video 😅
Start watching some backpacker videos on how to go ultralight camping. Lots of good equipment out there that weigh ounces!!
Hey there - - just saw your message on Primal and we wanted to come and support your channel!💚

I would love to see that!!!!!!

Good idea but I don’t want to put so much foam to where it ends up taking up too much space for camping gear.
Can you buy that "L" arm attachment for a Dremel?
No, my buddy cut a piece of a metal bracket to make it.
There is an optional drop in tray available for the Lite Tackle. That is the best of both worlds.
I heard it is a close fit!

I was eye ballin the light tackle 2 for its wide open hatch. I would have done the same thing bud.
It is a huge game changer
Wow! Who was that guy with the Guns? 🤠
Dad to the rescue!
