      Yes, I'm also shooting and editing videos on iMovie. I also have albinism and I'm legally blind. I'm wishing you well and a speedy recovery. Thank you for your awesome video with Sunu band. I'm one of the co-creators of the Sunu band. - Fernando

    Nice to meet your roommate/ your sometimes editor! I love your videos as a direct care provider I value the role that technology plays with in my community! From closed captions, voice over, and now devices like google home and Echo! Amazing! It’s all amazing! Yay technology

    Hello James. I am blind, and I do edit my UA-cam videos, when necessary. For this, I use the built-in movie editor in the camera/photos Application. I use iMovie to stitch the content together. I absolutely love iMovie. There are some bits of iMovie that are not voiceover accessible, (at least on the iPhone), but they aren’t features I use very often, or at all, really. And I actually use external microphones to record my video sometimes. I sometimes find that the iPhones microphone is not loud enough. I use an interface that connects to my iPhone. Awesome video!

    I use vegas pro personally! I don't get along with adobe very well at all! I use my disability to a great advantage when I edit, im autistic so I can attach colour to emotion and things so it's easy for me and 4 years later, I still love it

    Don't know if you're still really hanging around in the comment section seeing as this video is 3 years old but hey! I lost a significant portion of my vision about a year ago and I used to edit a lot of videos and really enjoy making many movies, stuff with poetry, etc. I had a couple projects that I was in the middle of working on that I just sort of stopped because I had no idea how to use the editing software. So sometimes I'll just record videos in one big chunk with no editing which is not the most graceful medium but it is way easier for me. And I also have an Android phone as my only piece of technology so I don't think any of the methods that you previously mentioned would be applicable but I really appreciate this and I'm going to try to look into some more. Thank you :-) also you have a lovely voice

    I used to make stop motion animation videos back in high school, but no longer do it. I've always been interested in film, from a story telling perspective. All I have ever wanted to do with my life is to entertain and tell stories though some sort of medium. I have goals of becoming a writer now. It has been an extremely challenging experience, since I am dyslexic. I use many of the same accessibility functions that are helpful for the visually impaired. Isn't technology a life changing experience :) The thought of using these types of programs to improve my writing would have never crossed my mind, if I hadn't found UA-camrs like you and Tommy Edison. Thank you!

    As a visually impaired individual myself although but not totally blind just moderate low vision I am able to use editing software without voice over by simply just magnifying the screen I first started editing on Windows Movie Maker this was back in the days of Windows XP however I think editing with screen reader would help if I had compatible software and a compatible computer with enough RAM I have used Adobe Premiere it is difficult for me to use because of all the fine small print there is no accessibility in Adobe Premiere that sucks from my personal experience it doesn't work well with screen magnifier. However I can honestly say Windows Movie Maker and CyberLink PowerDirector are wonderful they work perfect with screen magnification this was a great video thanks for sharing. I'm sure I movie in Final Cut are I'm sure I movie in Final Cut are also very wonderful but a Macbook is way out of my budget right now.

    I Hope you recover soon. I am thinking in creating videos about my daily experiences as a person with low vision, specially in the job place and dealing with transportation services, Editing videos is an area that I will need to have a little more practice because I want to deliver a good production. I will continue practicing with the resources that I have now. Thanks for your video.

    I use LumaFusion to edit my videos. I'm completely blind so use Voiceover all of the time. The timeline in LumaFusion doesn't play nice with Voiceover but the keyboard commands are fantastic so it's still workable. Colour correcting is never something I'm going to be able to do independently. To be honest, I don't even understand it.

      Thanks for sharing. Yeah and at the end of the day color corrections and grading can be subjective as many people see color differently.

    Now I have windows, again, still looking for a way to either trade up for, or at least get a low price for macs. Is there a program for windows to edit videos that is accessible? I know WLMM ended support a while back, but, still, really wanna make videos, hopefully they have one that has the upload features like MM did, where whenever possible, I can easily upload to youtube without having to save.

    Hey James. What sort of camera would you recommend for capturing video whilst mobile if one is totally blind? Clearly the iPhone camera works to some degree, but if I’m using the iPhone for, say, GPS or reading text in the wild, I can’t concurrently capture video-at least I assume not.

  • @JuanAlcazar
    @JuanAlcazar 6 років тому

    I think getting into Final Cut through iMovie would probably be best since it's not as much of a jarring transition compared to WMM.
    You started the really old school way with VCRs, yikes. I use FCPX to edit and zooming in makes things so much easier for me.
    I have to keep getting up after about a half hour of editing since I'll start feeling my knees losing a bit of circulation at times.

Should I go back to MacBook because I won’t be able to edit UA-cam? It isn’t up on UA-cam question how do you get round the voice over problems on the phone on iPhone? Because when I go to record it called start through VoiceOver please help Alex.

    Are there apps that you can use on your cell phone to help you read when you are out in the community? If so, what apps are they? I teach immigrants and refugees English. I just had an immigrant join my class who has albinoism and can't see well. I don't know anything about people who live with legal blindness. What do you think I need to know? I'm looking for any information to help him. Thank you.

    Hey. I need your help. I am Blind. I don’t know what is going on in UA-cam but every time I try to rewind the video by swiping down it doesn’t rewind the video it would fast forward the video so I thought then maybe they changed it backwards. But when I swipe up where is supposed to be fast forward it’s still fast forward. So there is no rewind. Maybe you can help me and others as a blind person send a feedback to UA-cam so they can fix that please I beg you it is on the new update of UA-cam. I have nine iPhones and so far six of my new iPhones it’s messed up like that.. So please if you can help me and others.

    I just use the Swift Playgrounds app on my new iPad I bought a couple weeks ago to edit things. I'm glad FCP works for you though. I don't have a Mac yet so I haven't been able to test if. I have tried iMovie on iOS and it unfortunately hasn't been the most accessible. Of course I'm very comfortable in a coding environment (I've been doing it for the last 15 years) and that's just how I work best.

    • @jamesrath
      @jamesrath  6 років тому

      There's certainly a learning curve. I do know Clips is VoiceOver enabled too. It's like a son to iMoive from Apple. Might be worth looking into. But I also don't know how coding skills translates to video editing haha!

    • @adampuckett7950
      @adampuckett7950 6 років тому

      Coding actually translates pretty well over to video editing. There are interfaces for recording, processing, playback and exporting that I can arrange in pretty much any configuration that suits my workflow. For example, to write a song, I just use the processing, playback and export interfaces and not the recording one. I'd say the biggest hurdles to jump would be the initial coding experience and also the specific formats you'd need to learn if you wanted to start. That's a lot to get into in a comment on UA-cam. Stick with whatever workflow works for you.
